Stayed here and had a great time . Basic rooms offer good value and best to book direct with hotel for best rates. Great meals and good wine selection. right at the foot of Mt Hotham. Owners are keen skiers and mountain bikers can arrange trips.

This place is in a great location at the bottom of the Hotham and Dinner Plain ski fields.

The rooms are basic, clean and functional. The electric blankets are a great addition and kept me toasty warm.

I had no issues with the noise but you can hear people moving around and getting up early to leave for the snow so if you’re a light sleeper this may be an issue.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Food from the pub was good.

My partner and I have just spent 2 weeks travelling through the high country, enjoying the gorgeous autumnal colours of the towns and the accommodation which was available. However, we were truly disappointed by this hotel. It is in dire need of refurbishment as the room which we were provided with had a dirty and stained carpet while the furniture had seen better days. The queen size bed was pushed against the wall which made access difficult for the guest who had that side of the bed. There was no proper bedside table but an old metal luggage rack with a lamp clipped onto its side was used as one. The wall heater was old, working on an economy cycle and had to be boosted every 2 hours to keep the room sufficiently warm. Not only was there no microwave provided but even a box of tissues was significantly non existent! Fortunately, we had brought our own hairdryer as none was there to be used. The hotel’s only redeeming feature was the quality of the food in its bistro. We had dinner there on 2 nights and kudos to the chef for the delicious food and the interesting choices that were on offer as specials for the night. Would not recommend this hotel as there must surely be others who can offer the basics which a traveller expects.

Response from Bennett Mountjoy, Owner at Harrietville Snowline Hotel
Responded 21 May 2021
Hi Susan, Sorry to hear your stay with us did not meet your expectations. We take all feedback very seriously and are always striving to improve our product. Our Motel is currently positioned as good value three star accommodation. Our rooms provide all the basics a high country adventurer should need and when combined with the high quality food, hospitality and rustic charm of our pub most of our customers leave happy & with overwhelmingly good reviews. While our rooms are by no means 4 or 5 star luxury we do take cleanliness very seriously and try to address all maintenance issues ASAP. With the recent post COVID boom our property has experienced unprecedented demand & high occupancy and as such I apologise that some issues such as ingrained carpet stains sometimes can't be addressed as part of the daily cleaning routine. We are currently going through a deep clean and thorough maintenance audit of all our rooms to ensure they are up to standard for our busy winter period. This will include steam cleaning of any carpets required. We have been collecting feedback on required updates/upgrades that would add value to our rooms. We do agree that the bedside lighting is a must and this is part of our renovation plan. Our rooms don't have kitchenettes and aren't advertised as such. They do have a kettle with basic coffee & tea provisions as well as a bar fridge. We do plan to provide a shared bbq and kitchen area for guests however most of our guests stay with us to experience the great mix food, local wines & craft beers provided by our pub.

Beautiful large deck catering for a lot of people. We had a very large group with dogs & it suited the group. Was very hot in the sun till it went down behind the mountain, some of our group had to move tables. The food was very small serves ( whole group) and was expensive for what it was. I had the beef cheese burger & there was more chips than burger. For $27 I didn't expect to come away still hungry. Others had the steak which was $41 and also left hungry. Haven't been for 2 years but was very disappointed.

Room clean enough and beds OK. Disappointed to find out that breakfast wasn't available till lunch time (12:00) as staff serve in the pub till the bar closes. Cleaners don't come in every day to refresh the room. We stayed in the hot week of 40 plus temperatures and there is no form of cooling (not even ceiling fans) phew...Apparently the food in the pub was good but we didn't try it. It appears the pub takes priority and the motel a second little earner.

This hotel/motel has undergone a transformation over the last 4 years, situated at the foot of the GIANT Mt Hotham this young couple have reinvented this resort to offer an amazing experience both summer and winter. We spent New year there with a great live singer Megan Kelly and did not want to go to bed. Next day, we spent cooling off in the mountain fed river at the rear and swimming in the Dredge Hole. The new chef is cooking graet meals, our favourite was the duck salad. The rooms are clean, and the staff could not do enough to help. This is a hidden secret as far as we are concerned.

8 of us ate here twice on our annual high country motorbike tour. It's a great pub, Friday nights are better than Saturday as they have entertainment on the deck and the place is pretty busy. The food is good, steaks well cooked, top chicken and rib entrees. Wine list is ok but not extensive, could do with more local labels. In all a top pub and one we will return to next year.
