Lavender Hue is a peaceful and charming Lavender Farm, Tea Room & Cafe and Bed & Breakfast on the banks of the Ovens River in Harrietville, in Victoria's High Country. Our 4 star bed & breakfast studio/loft accommodation in the Ovens valley is styled in the tradition of a cosy mountain lodge, with beautiful, hand crafted furnishings and abundant use of interior timbers that create a real sense of warmth. The studio loft is a welcoming space, sleeping two adults in a comfortable queen bed and featuring an open plan living area, eating space and small kitchenette, with a private bathroom off the living space. Outside, spectacular trees, flowers and birds enhance the experience and provide beauty in every season. It’s very highly rated by our guests and we love seeing people return year after year. The tea rooms, cafe and lavender farm shop overlook our delightful gardens and are on the northern bank of the Ovens River. They’re the perfect place to stop and relax with a cuppa as you pass through Harrietville, perhaps on your way to or from the snowfields, as a refuelling stop after a long bushwalk, or simply as a day visit from Bright or another High Country town. ** PLEASE NOTE** Our Tea Rooms, Cafe & Farm Shop are closed at present due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Our 1BR studio/loft accommodation is still open for bookings; please contact us directly to book.

Detailed Reviews
Peaceful tranquility, the only interruption to this solitude is the continuous gentle sound of the Ovens River, as it flows, crystal clear, over rocks which glisten in the dappled light.
This is the environment we cherished while staying at Lavender Hue, Harrietville in Victoria’s’ North East
Although development of the area over the past decades is obvious, this section of the river retains its unspoilt appeal, we trust its preservation will be afforded to future generations.
We recommend Lavender Hue for its pristine location and the exceptional hospitality offered by its hosts Rona and Bill

Thank you to my hosts, Rona and Bill, for a lovely time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I had been so cautious about travelling but felt completely safe and relaxed in the spotlessly clean, gorgeously comfortable accommodation which is nestled in a pristine natural environment. The tranquility of the setting, between the clear river and the lavender farm, meant that I only dragged myself away from Lavender Hue once in three days for an easy stroll into the Harrietville township. Spoilt daily with fresh flowers and herbs, Rona took such pride in the presentation of the cottage and my breakfast. Thank you again, and I am looking forward to returning!

Rona spared no expense making my partner and I feel welcome and looked after. Everything was excellently set up for us, and we really appreciated the warm, cozy, and peaceful vibes. The location couldn't be better - we had so much to do and not enough time to do it all. Each day was better than the last. Particularly grateful to Rona and Bill for helping us out with my broken down car which got stranded overnight in a pretty inconvenient location. I certainly didn't expect our hosts to go so far as to help us recover it - and help us remedy the issue! Not only that, but they couldn't have been happier to do all they could for us.
A stay at Lavender Hue is a good choice for anyone who needs a dose of paradise, with a huge side of warmth, kindness and attentiveness from the hosts. No wonder why we're booked in to return in November!

Lavender Hue is a wonderful place for a quiet, restful break.
We just spent 4 nights there in early April, and enjoyed every moment. The loft is beautifully fitted out, the bed is very comfortable and there is a good sized bathroom with large shower and separate bath. There is a balcony at either end of the loft, one with a view to the lush garden and the other with a view to the river.
There are two pubs nearby, so dining out is easy. Also, the Harrietville to Bright bike trail is just opposite.
Rona is a very generous host and made sure our stay was everything we expected. She brings a fresh continental breakfast to the room each morning, asks about our stay, and makes sure all is OK.
Highly recommended and we hope we can return in the spring.

My partner and I had the most wonderful time at this little B&B! The B&B was incredibly cozy and well looked after - it has rustic country vibes that suit the surrounding scenery perfectly. From inside the B&B we could constantly hear the sounds of the river outside and had brilliant views of the lavender garden and the mountains. It truly was the most scenic and beautiful holiday either of us had ever had.
On top of that the owner was warm, welcoming and accommodating, as well as respectful of our vegan lifestyle! A lovely person who made our stay all the more pleasant :) She and her husband even went out of their ways to help my partner and I when we ran into a bit of car trouble!
There were so many perks of this stay, from the hot breakfasts, the quality of the B&B, to the kindness of our host, that I would recommend this holiday to everyone. If you have the chance, be sure to check out this lovely little corner of the world :)

We recently spent a couple of days in Harrietville.
The tranquillity of this lovely piece of countryside is rejuvenating.
The sound of the Ovens River and waking up to the dawn chorus, was wonderful and relaxing
Lavender Hue hosts, Rona and Bill were very welcoming and couldn't do enough for us.
I'm passionate about herbs, and Rona, who is great fun, showed us how she distils Lavender, which is used for products in the Cafe-Shop
I recommend Lavender Hue as an ideal beautiful destination.

Thank you Rona & Bill for a wonderful holiday.
We love the peace and privacy of the farm which helps to refresh ourselves for another busy year. The river and the lavender farm are relaxing and beautiful and makes our stay very therapeutic, especially as we have health concerns. The complimentary breakfast is always delicious. We look forward to coming again very soon.

What a incredible quick getaway. The lavender farm is cosy and quaint and unique! The view and accommodation was amazing but the real high light was out host Rona. She was the most amazing, thoughtful and welcoming host, she made us feel at home and nothing was a hassle. She made us a continental breakfast every morning and even catered to my dietary requirements without hesitation. We absolutely loved our stay and will be returning. Can not recommend the lavender farm any more!

Rona and Bill have the loveliest B&B in Harrietville and they could not be more sweet and helpful. The place is immaculate and has all the sweet touches one can imagine. It’s cosy just like home and set in the beautiful countryside, next to a small river. Rona is the sweetest and most thoughtful host. We will definitely be back!
