Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Third time staying at this place, it’s comfortable and has all the things you need for a no frills time away. All I need is a place to sleep and have a shower, I spend most of my days in Halls Gap out hiking.Conveniently located behind the Halls Gap shops and is just a 2 min walk to cafes pubs and shops. The rooms are a good size but needs some renovation and updating.. bathrooms needs a lot of attention.

Made to feel very welcome. The bed was comfortable and TV excellent. However, the patio area had been neglected with a dirty table, animal droppings on the grass and full of weeds. The position and views are great but some TLC is required.

The establishment is a decrepit dive, and in times of trouble, the owners are conspicuously absent. The shower proved utterly useless, as after waiting for 20 minutes, only a feeble trickle of cold water emerged. The hand basin followed suit, spurting out discoloured water for a distressing duration of 10 minutes. This dire situation left me wary of using it for brushing my teeth or even as a source of clean water for my coffee. To compound matters, both the television and microwave outlets were non-functional. The apathetic owners displayed no concern or responsiveness whatsoever. The entire place is dilapidated, poorly managed, and unworthy of being listed. It ought to be promptly shut down!

The motel was a bit dated but very comfortable and had everything you needed. Was close to shopping strip, about 5 mins walk. It was a cold wet night and the heating worked really well. Would stay again, although the man on reception was'nt very friendly

advertised as wheelchair access, NO WHEELCHAIR ACCESS. I'm writing this as I don't want anyone with a disability to be fooled about what's available and go through what we went through. THE WORST 4 NIGHTS !!! The new owners are obviously living off the previous owners reputation.

Mould all over the privacy blinds and shower floor, damaged carpets, dripping ice tray, bugs all over the window…a great view of the mountains is not enough to suffice for the poor quality of the rooms. It just felt dated and in major need of an overhaul, especially being in such a prime location.

Great location and an easy walk to the main street. We had a ‘mountain view room’ and highly recommend for stunning views of the Grampians and a huge mob of kangaroos in the paddock behind including a couple of emus and deer. The lodge though is tired and needs some TLC. One of the chairs outside was broken, as was the castor wheel on the bed and it felt like it overall needed a good clean. I found the bed comfortable, however my partner had the broken wheel side, so not such much for him. The room rate ($160) is a little on the high side but the views somehow make you forget it.

I absolutely loved this hotel. The room was nice and the kangaroos were right out there. I was sitting for hours in the comfortable chair at the window watching the kangaroos in the big grass field just outside the room. Joeys climging in and out of the mothers pouch, kangaroos hopping, youngsters chasing each other, males fighting and most of all just eating grass. As it was my first trip to Australia I was very keen on the kangaroos. You see them in many places but it was here where I really got to know them. An emu was also walking right past our window. Halls Gap has quite a few birds. We saw more in the town then during our hikes in the park. The room is very spacious with WiFi, TV, iron, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster. It also had plates and cuttlery. There is a table to sit at and two comfortable chairs. The bathroom was also spacious. Everything was clean. The guy at the reception was very friendly. The car can be parked right outside the room. There are two rows of rooms. For the kangaroos you should book a "mountain view" room.
