Second time at this place, and the experience has been great both times. The motor inn is conveniently located in the center of town, walking distance to the restaurants and market. Ask for the mountain view when you reserve. There are mobs of Roos that congregate right out out your back patio. Watched Roos, Deer, Emus, and three species of parrots (friendly enough to venture into an open glass sliding door) from the table and chairs provided for you just outside your glass slider.

We were slight apprehensive given reviews of “aging and worn” so we were pleasantly surprised by our room. It was large, well lit, and provided with all the facilities we needed. Huge bathroom with abundance of towels and plenty of hot water. Lots of electrical outlets for gadget charging which was atypical of other motels we stayed at during our trip. Yes, the carpet was a tad aging but it was clean. There is a small patio overlooking a large pasture with resident sheep. Guest laundry on site with reasonable charge. Hoards of cockatoos to entertain and overwhelm you should you ill-advisedly produce any edibles. Location on the edge of town was quiet and restful but easily walkable to shops and restaurants. This was one of our favorite stopovers on a two week trip and also one of the more economical motels we used.

We have stayed here a few times and always been satisfied. We booked the mountain view room. These rooms have a patio sliding door to outdoor table and chairs with the most stunning view of the Mount William Range, and a paddock with grazing kangaroos, emus and ducks. Blue wrens, finches and honey-eaters hopping around the bushes where you sit. This is the most amazing feature of this motel - please do not change it. Clean, covid safe (didn't request daily cleans with towel changes and rubbish removal on request). Microwave, toaster, crockery etc all good. Friendly staff who assisted when we left a package behind.

When it is stated that wifi is in the unit, I do not expect to drive 10 minutes down the road and sit on a bench outside to use the internet.
The cottage was okay, a bit homey but nice. We enjoyed the wild life around the cottage. Service and help from the booking agent was non-existent.

We had a last minute change of plans and needed a room at Halls Gap. We phoned the property directly to discuss parking and the cost. The cost was a lot lower using an online booking service so we immediately booked on-line and received a confirmation about 20 mins later. After driving all day, we arrived the next afternoon to check in only to be told by the Manager that they had rejected our booking and there were no rooms available. I understand that sometimes there might be a lapse in communication between the online booking services and the properties, but the Manager showed no care or sympathy for our predicament and acted like it was our fault. We were very disappointed with his attitude and poor service. Luckily, we found a room elsewhere.

This motor lodge is true to name in a Mountain View room, with kookaburras, cockatoos, emus and kangaroos to entertain you over a sunset drink or sunny breakfast. Great location within walking distance of main shopping area, restaurants, fuel station, brewery etc. Easy parking. Nice BBQ area. Rooms are a little tired, with some small repairs needed ie one power point not working, fly screen door needing replacing, broken chairs outside, towel rail fell off (but friendly cleaner assured me all of these things would be fixed ASAP) but otherwise good value for money. Would certainly recommend and come back.

Great location and an easy walk to the main street. We had a ‘mountain view room’ and highly recommend for stunning views of the Grampians and a huge mob of kangaroos in the paddock behind including a couple of emus and deer. The lodge though is tired and needs some TLC. One of the chairs outside was broken, as was the castor wheel on the bed and it felt like it overall needed a good clean. I found the bed comfortable, however my partner had the broken wheel side, so not such much for him. The room rate ($160) is a little on the high side but the views somehow make you forget it.

+1
This was the second night we stayed in Halls Gap... it was $1 cheaper than the room we stayed in the night before with a lot less on offer. BUT I will stand by the fact that I had outstanding service from the gentleman checking me in, the room was clean and it met our overnight needs.
This is a good choice for an overnight stay in Halls Gap. The views from your room are delightful and you will see heaps of kangaroos whilst staying here. I didn't, ironically, see one single kookaburra during my stay. But I know they would not be far away.

I had some trouble with my booking, Stephen who owns the place was extreemly helpful and sorted things out for me.
At check-in he was very friendly and helped me out by giving me a map and also recommending hiking trails. He also recommended restaurants based on past guest feedback. I was also invited to meet with Kookaburras who visit the hotel every evening at 5. If you are lucky you can get a few picks and one might even sit on your arm.
The room was very clean and so was the bathroom. Very comfortable bed. And the place is extreemly close to shops and restaurants.
Overall a very good place for a weekend gettaway.

We recently stayed at this establishment for what was to be two nights however we decided to only stay one. Friends of ours had previously stayed here and said that it was good. It appears that new owners have taken over and we felt it looked unkept there was pieces of rubbish lying around the entrance to the units and a disposable vinyl glove outside our door. Inside the Air Conditioner filter were blocked and filthy and the bottom area of the shower recess was covered in mould around the grout / silicon sealing. The drive through entrance to reception was untidy and the light bulbs were filthy with webs etc growing from and hanging from them. The receptionist at the the time was quite abrupt and unfriendly when we were discussing the issue of only staying one night. We would never stay there again and suggest anyone thinking of booking to due due diligence beforehand. As we are retired we travel quite a lot and this place would have to be well down the list in sofar as standards go.

Hi Maria, we stayed here. Yes you can cut through to the shops and main drag if you cross the road. Easy!
Hello
You might be confusing us with the Kookaburra Hotel which is 3 minutes up the street.
I can highly recommend the spinach crepes though.
Regards
Stephen
