We stayed in a studio cottage for 3 nights. Wow, this place is fantastic. Quiet, spotlessly clean, comfortable bed, air con, very large smart TV and extremely well equipped kitchen with new and quality appliances. (An extra star for sharp knives, hotplates, microwave and full fridge - however there is no oven) The cottages face the escarpment and have a lovely deck fronting a large lawned area which ducks, birds and Kangaroos also enjoy. Parking is next to each cottage. We cannot fault this accommodation or the hosts who are working hard to improve the facilities after only 6 months of ownership.

The position is ideal – set back from the main road in a tranquil location, about 700m from the town centre. There are 9 cabins arranged in a L-shape around a grassy area which appeared a popular spot for grazing kangaroos.

The owners, Paul and Ngaire, provided a very warm welcome and obviously take a pride in maintaining the cabins which were spotless and well equipped.

I particularly enjoyed sitting on the front deck, reading, and enjoying the company of the kangaroos.

Ngarie was very helpful on check in and gave us lots of useful information on walks, attractions and places to eat.
The location is perfect as you are right in the Grampians, all you have to do is look around and you see mountains.
The studios are beautifully maintained and they have good quality appliances in the kitchen and it was evident that they were thoroughly cleaned prior to our arrival.
The two person spa was a wonderful treat after a day of walking around the Grampians.
The studios are well positioned and provide great privacy to enjoy the beautiful surrounds.
It was lovely sitting on the patio listening to the babbling brook while we had breakfast or while enjoying the antics of the local kangaroos who made an appearance each afternoon. Be sure to get back to the studios by around 3pm to enjoy the wonderful wildlife.

We had an incredibly disappointing stay at Daltons resort. This place has so much potential but is incredibly run down and it’s evident that it’s time to hand it to someone who can run it properly. The man at the front was rude and arrogant when there was a mistake in the booking on their end. The cabins have charm and could be the best place to stay in halls gap if they were cared for. I did my back immediately after sitting on their terrible mattresses that I doubt have been updated since the cabins were built. The linen was ancient, yellowed and stained and was evidently over twenty years old. For such a basic fix of getting a $20 linen set at Kmart there is just no excuse for the state Daltons is now in. I have stayed here throughout my childhood and adult life and would not bother again until someone who cares for it can take over and give this location the attention it deserves.

My wife and I shared a Family Cottage; the couple we were traveling with had a Studio Apartment. Our cottage had plenty of room, with a full kitchen and dining area. The bathroom had two sinks and plenty of room on the counter to spread out. In the morning we had kangaroos ALL over the place! There was also a kookaburra in a nearby tree.

Our friends in the Studio were not as happy with their accommodation. The bath tub/shower was in the middle of the "great-room", and there was no shower curtain.

I'd recommend staying here for the close proximity to town and the wildlife. But ONLY if you get a Cottage.

The cabins were spacious and open plan with a very comfortable bed, large kitchen and bath and separate shower. The front porch was large and little table and chairs was great to sit and have a glass of wine. There were kangaroos that came on a regular basis and grazed right in plain view. Galahs would come an sit on the roof and even the porch looking for a hand-out. Very quiet area and a good view of the Grampians. It was a little out side of town but this was not a negative. A walking path right next to the road gave easy access to the town. Highly recommend. A perfect place to relax and enjoy!

These studios are ideally placed in Halls Gap, off the main road but only a short stroll from shops, bars and restaurants. Spotlessly clean, comfortable and with helpful and friendly hosts. Sitting on the studio veranda in the evening provided a calm and relaxing break. Local wildlife visitors a bonus.

We stayed here for a night while visiting Halls Gap. The location was great for Halls Gap and the Studio Villas all had parking. The accommodation was basic and dated - we also had suspicious stains on the bed topper and hairs in the bed sheets. It’s fine for a night but could use modernising now. Ok overall.

We stayed for two nights in a studio which overlooked the green on which you could watch kangaroos graze. The verandah was ideal for sitting and taking in the views whilst being visited by cockatoos aplenty. Internally the studio, basically a wooden chalet, was comfortable, warm and very pleasant to use. Only gripes were a single ring on a two ring cooker working and the wi if dropping out frequently. That said the environmental is fantastic, you feel as if you are part of the natural world around you and you will never see more kangaroos than in Halls Gap.

Made to feel welcome at check in, lots of information about what to do, where to eat and even good coffee in the morning. Lovely little cosy spa cottage. Roos in the front, cockys on the roof and magpies on the verandah to welcome us. It had everything inside the kitchenette that you need including cutlery, crockery, toaster etc. Nice to sit on the verandah after a day of exploring the beautiful local area, and then into the spa of course. Very convenient walk into town and very reasonably priced. We would have no hesitation recommending D'Altons Studios to our friends. Dave and Jane
