What a wonderful place to stay, comfort, luxury and space. This place has it all and more. A secluded location with majestic views of the Grampians. This has to be one of the most beautiful regions in Australia. Stop thinking about it and just do it!

My wife and I stayed at Boroka Downs in Halls Gaps for two nights in February 2020 while travelling around Australia. This was our time for some R&R and it did not disappoint.
Boroka Downs is a small resort with 5 luxury styled large one bedroom private villas overlooking the Grampian hills in the heart of Victoria. The accommodation was built around 30 years ago but has been well looked after, has stood the test of time and is finished to a very high standard.
There wasn’t anything we could fault about the place so much so that we didn’t really want to leave the place during our stay. We provisioned before we arrived at the accommodation and so ate all our meals in, sitting outside looking out over the beautiful scenery. We got up early one morning to walk to the Pinnacle lookout which is about and hour and a half round trip.
We had lots of visitors while we were there; kangaroos by the dozen, black eagles, Emu’s, parrots and wrens.
Bob and Stephanie were superb hosts and had thought of everything; milk, bread, butter, a bottle of wine, jams/honey, continental breakfast, chocolates plus the usual essentials and even some body lotion/hand cream!
We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to get away from it all in complete privacy.

This is the perfect place for 3-4 days exploring the Grampians NP in winter. After a morning out walking it is great to head back to our villa, shower and change in to some warm clothes and relax with the view. We would recommend picking up some good cheese and wine ( and some easy to prep meals) on the way to Halls Gap and enjoy the tranquility. High end finishes in the room make his very easy as does the supplied breakfast, coffee and tea and a nice bottle of wine. Warm, comfortable, quiet, it was hard to leave

What a fabulous secluded spot Boroka Downs is! Nestled on a Landcare-acknowledged property well off the highway about ten minutes from Hall's Gap, the five units are at least 100 metres apart from each other for quietness and privacy. Our unit faced across the paddocks towards the mountains and we gazed at the kangaroos, wallabies and emus that wandered past. The unit is very well appointed and thoughtfully so, with items such as local wine, jam and honey provided, along with fresh bread during our stay, and a star map and binoculars to make sense of the Milky Way that we can't see from Melbourne. And on our last day, our hosts Bob and Steph kindly let us stay a little longer while I finished a work Zoom meeting. Oh, and did I mention the silence at night? Sssshhh...

This was my second visit to Boroka Downs. I visited in 2016 with my sister and husband when they visited from the UK. On this occasion, it was the first place that we stayed on a 47 day holiday of Australia before returning to the UK to retire. Before arriving my husband said to me "why are we going here?" We arrived before lunch, and by the time we had had lunch my husband said "why are we only staying for two nights". We were able to book an extra night. The bungalows are beautiful. The hosts have quite literally thought of everything that you could possibly need, from pillow menu, to torch, to backpack with maps and binoculars. The kitchen is very well provided in terms of equipment and basic provisions. Continental breakfast is supplied. It is a real pleasure to sit outside the bungalow looking towards the grampians with wildlife strolling past, or sitting sipping bubbles in the spa bath looking out to the view. For an international visitor you could not find a better place that is more archetypical of the Australian Bush.
My daughter said to me "has your trip peaked already?"
I have waited until we finished our trip to place this review, as I had chosen some other lovely places to stay and wished to compare them. Boroka Downs comes out tops. The best place that I have ever stayed. I was so sad to leave.

This is one of the most well presented properties we have ever stayed at. Quality fixtures and amenities abound. Situated on a former sheep farm, the wildlife abounds and comes right to your back door. This is the place for luxury, peace and tranquillity with utmost privacy. The welcoming treats were lovely. An absolute pleasure to stay and congratulations to the proprietors for presenting the place as they do. Will stay again next time we visit.

Our first trip to Halls Gap and the Grampians and we picked the right place to stay. Peaceful, private, amazing views, and kangaroos at your door.
There are five residences, all distanced from each other so you are essentially 'alone'. The residences are spacious, with everything you could possibly need provided. Contactless check-in was seamless, a quick text to the hosts to let them know we had arrived (and departed later on), and we settled in for a few days rest. Boroka Downs has a Trust for Nature overlay on the property with a perpetual covenant, which protects the wildlife and the habitation on the property forever. All the landscaping around the residences was done by the owners and it's beautiful. It's a special place.
Kangaroos appeared on our first day and kept us company for our stay. We saw emus and deer while we were there too. The view of national park and the mountains was imposing and perfect for sitting and just looking. Calm is how I would describe the atmosphere here.
Our hosts, Bob and Stephanie, were quick to respond to our emails and texts, and very patient with re-bookings as Covid stopped us from coming until December. No question or request was too much trouble . They were the perfect hosts - and I'm not sure I've written that before in a review. Thank you both for making our stay a delight.
Boroka Downs was exactly what we needed for a few days respite after a very crazy year. I can't recommend it enough.

Stayed at this retreat in the Grampians National Park last week. The property was absolutely stunning. It was beautifully presented with many touches which showed Bob and Steph had gone the extra mile to make our stay extra special. We loved being immersed in the local wildlife with kangaroos, birds, emus all frequenting the grounds at the back of the property. It is very private and separated from the other units by tall trees. Halls Gap is just a quick 5min drive. Bob met us personally and was great at explaining all the local hiking options and showed us around the unit in detail. Highly recommended!!

Boroka Downs is set on a sprawling property 10 minutes from Halls Gap. We stayed in Lodge 1, which has a lovely view over a shallow little valley with a small dam at the bottom of the hill.
The wildlife is the true highlight of this place, kangaroos abound and bound very close to the lodge as well as congregating at dusk at the dam for a drink.
The day we arrived was over 40° so we stayed indoors with the A/C on watching the kangaroos and local birds (rosellas and tiny little Splendid Wrens) drink from the water bowl right outside the floor to ceiling windows - what a delight.
Bob met us when we arrived and was tremendously helpful, highlighting the local walks and giving us great info on the local places to visit.
All in all a beautiful experience, and exactly the place for a romantic weekend.

We have just returned home from an absolutely gorgeous 3 nights at this stunning property. It was exactly what we needed, escape Melbourne to absolute privacy and seclusion (apart from the kangaroos which visited daily). Bob could not have been more accommodating on checking in , explaining our villa and things to do in the area. Stephanie and Bob have made this accommodation a home away from home , their thoughtfulness within the villa from every utensil/cooking item one would need to a pantry of basics to match not to mention fresh produce for breakfast and a beautiful touch of little gifts for us to take home. We thoroughly loved our time and cannot wait to visit again (hopefully August for our anniversary).
