Our favourite stop on our recent road trip. The room had been thoughtfully updated but still retained lots of '70s motel charm (yay!). We appreciated touches like the double window blinds (privacy only + blackout), quality bedlinen and good bathroom. Jo and Ian were extremely welcoming and helpful. The setting is superb, with kangaroos visiting the beautiful grassed area. We didn't use the excellent BBQ area but did relax outside with cups of tea and read the magazines provided. Unfortunately our two-night stay was cut short at 11pm on the second evening when Vic Emergency required everyone to evacuate the town as a precaution against approaching bushfires. Jo and Ian came to all rooms ensuring we understood the situation and while we were disappointed to leave, we sadly didn't get to enjoy our second night. Communication during what must have been a very difficult time for all accommodation hosts was excellent, and we do hope Halls Gap Motel bounces back when visitors are welcomed back to the area. We oudknhave no hesitation booking again for our next visit to this beautiful part of Victoria.

Gary and Pip are welcoming hosts and will give you all the information you need to see the best of Grampians. Immaculate, spacious rooms with breath-taking views, one can spend hours on the outdoor deck appreciating the beauty the town has to offer. Be ready with your camera to capture families of kangaroos in and around the motel. Enjoy the warmth of the bonfire in the evening. Very convenient location, walking distance to the town centre. Highly recommended at affordable prices!

We stayed here as part of a group tour and while the motel does need some TLC the staff, meals and location made up for any other shortcomings. We loved seeing the kangaroos and cockatoos so close to the rooms. Our room was large and very comfortable with a huge bathroom and small kitchenette. Everything we might have needed was provided and the staff went out of their way to let us know that they were happy to help in any way possible. We would definitely stay here again if we return to the area in the future.

Well located motel within walking distance of what passes for the shopping area of the town. We were warmly greeted and given necessary information about the property, dinner and breakfast options, and prominent tourist attractions. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms well equipped with a refrigerator, cable TV and a decnt shower. The property has a firepit and a couple outdoor BBQs for guests to avail themselves of. Lovely outlook towards the ranges. Would happily make a repeat visit.

This motel was so lovely. Apart from extremely nice hosts the room was excellent. Spotlessly clean, comfortable, bright, comfy, wonderful views, well equipped. The views from our room were beautiful and the garden area was immaculate, open, well maintained, views of mountains and wildlife at our door. The well kept BBQ area overlooked swamp, mountains and plenty of Australian wildlife. So relaxing and beautiful. Love to go back.

Had a wonderful stay at this motel. It was a cosy, small motel which is within walking distance to eateries and shops. Rooms were clean and newly renovated. Very friendly and helpful owners who had made our stay so enjoyable. Rooms also came with a heated mattress and free toiletries were available.

With comfortable motel style rooms and a fantastic restaurant where we enjoyed breakfast and dinner both days, this motel provided large grounds where kangaroos and emus, ducks and other bird life roamed around for us to get up close to and enjoy watching while having a drink on the expansive deck. Set in the valley between the unique Grampians range the scenery is magnificent and the location provided a great base for exploring the area’s walking trails and visiting the Halls Gap zoo. We had a great time.

We just recently stayed over the labour Long Weekend, and what a great weekend it was,
The views from the motel were amazing!! The rooms where highly kept and very enjoyable and relaxing to Stay in, with a new recent modern touch.
The location was only a 1 min walk to the main town and had great bike paths ready to go riding straight from the front driveway.
Every night we went out for tea we came back to a beautiful setting with there lovely fire pit shimmering away with mountain views in the back drop plus a handful of the local Kangaroos, deers, and ducks. Each night we got to enjoy the beautiful nights sky including seeing the Milky Way.
We had a little boy who got very sick during the trip and the Hosts were extreamly helpful and accommodating with everything we needed, they kept a close eye on us asking if we needed anything for the remainder of the trip.
they where a wonder couple running the motel and I couldn't speak highly enough of them both, I recommend there motel to anyone ever coming through to visit Halls Gap,
Thanks again Dan, Meags an Hughy

The panoramic views, relaxing outdoor seating, and abundant Australian wildlife viewing were the highlights of this stay at Halls Gap Motel in Halls Gap, Victoria. The room was squeaky clean and updated. The manager checked in with the guests, and everyone enjoyed a fire pit gathering in the evening to watch mobs of kangaroos, emu, and deer graze in nearby paddocks. Restaurants and pubs are within walking distance or a short drive. It was a home base for touring the nearby Grampian Ranges.

First a disclaimer - I know the owners but I don't think I'm biased. First impressions are of a standard country motel but the rooms have been (almost) fully renovated to a high standard. The bed was very comfortable, with an electric blanket! Really nice shower with top quality shampoo etc and good, thick towels. Outside, a covered deck looks out across a private conservation area full of frogs, kangaroos, emus and deer (bit random). Brand new radiant heaters keep you warm on cool nights if you can't get close to the fire pit that Gary and Pip light every evening (fire bans permitting). A glass or 2 of a good red is a great way to finish the day. Can't comment on the fancy TV - too tired after a day of walking in the Grampians. Great place and good hosts.
