Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Probably the most relaxing, laid-back and best place we have ever stayed at! The accommodation is not the most luxurious you will find, as the name Pioneer Cottages suggest. But it was spotlessly clean, well-equipped and comfortable. Very quiet with only a few humans around. But the birds and animals abound; kangaroos, emus, horses, fairy wrens, cockatoos literally just out of the door. Not to mention the 4 very friendly chickens sitting on the windowsill. ... And the sunrise is just amazing!

Very peaceful location. Quiet surroundings and no one else was close to our cabin. Plenty of room to stretch out and enjoy. Kitchen was fully stocked and clean. Lots of space to walk around the surrounding bushland on the property.

We had a wonderful stay in Halls Gap, and being based at Grampians Pioneer Cottages made our visit all the more special. The cottages themselves are beautifully built and fitted out, and include lots of thoughtful touches, such as firewood delivered daily, extremely comfortable beds, a well equipped kitchen and dining area, and books and games that visitors are free to use. The views outdoors are truly memorable, and visitors should remember to bring their cameras at all times as the native animals roam freely. It was a great experience for our kids, as well as their parents. Last but not least, special mention must go to the hosts, Aiden and Corinne, who look after their guests around the clock. Highly recommended!

We had the log cabin and just loved our stay. Our first impression was just how spotlessly clean the cabin was. Second impression, absolutely everything was thought of in the cabin from insect repellant to coffee plungers to matches for the fire, extra pillows, a hair dryer etc. Third impression, the views - absolutely to die for. Fourth impression, the tranquility.... The cabin was warm, cosy and comfortable. The fire an absolute highlight. The only downside, we just didn't stay long enough!

Stone Cottage was fabulous for 5 of us over 4 nights. Very comfortable and well provisioned. The wild life passing the cottage was amazing. Great to have the open fire at night. Plenty to do nearby including the adjacent amazing zoo and walking up to the Peak. Highly recommended

We loved our stay at Redgum cottage, it was absolutely fantastic. Kangaroos bounding at the front door, beautiful views and peace and quiet. We ate in every night, sitting by the fire, because it was too lovely to leave. Everything was perfect in the rustic cottage. Aidan gave us great advice and we did long walks in the Grampians each day. Thank you Aidan & Corinne. We will return! Ron & Greg

We enjoyed our stay here. The cottage was as expected. The setting was tranquil and we loved waking to the animals and birds. The hosts were attentive and friendly; generously providing and ingredient that we neglected to bring for the meal we made in the cottage.

We stayed for a night in the lovely Red Gum Log Cabin. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable and we appreciated the heated blankets! The grounds are lovely and peaceful and my son was delighted to see so many animals roaming around - especially the friendly hens.

The log cottage was fabulous with an open fire set and ready for lighting. The beds were comfortable, views amazing and kangaroos and emus grazed right out front. The full kitchen, split system heating (to support the fire) and spacious cottage made the stay very comfortable. Highly recommended!

The cottage itself was charming and spotless (not a speck of dust to be seen!) The grounds were teaming with wildlife - kangaroos, emu and deer. The location was super convenient being next door to Halls Gap Zoo and about 5 minutes drive to the town centre. Very family friendly and a memorable experience. Thank you!
