We were given a night's accomodation ar Marwood as a birthday gift. We were greeted by two kangaroos lazing happily on the grass before being met by our host Max, who made us feel most welcome. Our private villa backed onto surrounding bush land and provided a lovely outlook to enjoy whilst relaxing. Breakfast requirements are provided as is an electric BBQ. We took advantage of the spa bath and enjoyed a relaxing soak whilst consuming champagne. We ventured into town for some supplies for a tasting plate for dinner as lunch had been substantial. If you’re looking for. Unique experience in a wonderfully peaceful setting, then this place is for you.

We stayed in villa number 1 which was spacious, clean and thoughtfully equipped. Chilled water and a bottle of fizz were waiting for us in the fridge and we enjoyed a home cooked steak bought from the local shops on the main drag in Halls Gap. This is a lovely quiet spot just out of the main town where kangaroos roam freely on the lawn and back garden which backs straight onto the national forest. The bed was comfortable and the showers excellent. Wish we had been staying for longer than one night. We managed to visit the cultural centre which was full of amazing facts and photos about aborigine life as well as a trio to Mackenzie Falls which is well worth the effort of the steps down and up!

We stayed here for just one night. I had planned on proposing to my girlfriend on-top of Mount Abrupt and wanted to book somewhere special to stay the night. On looking online the idea of the fireplace appealed to me and I booked it.
After our walk up Mount Abrupt we headed for our accommodation which was easy to locate down a quiet bush road not far from town.
On arrival we were greeted at our car (perfect timing) which was fantastic as my legs were like jello after completing that walk up Mount Abrupt.
We pulled up at our villa which was surrounded by kangaroos and their Joey's which was fantastic to see.
We opened up the doors and wow, it was even better than what it looked like in the photos.
It has a rustic but also homely feeling with a splash of high end feel and definitely romantic.
We talked to a friendly fella that was tidying and maintaining the grounds who gave me a few good hints on lighting the fire like a macho man and a few good walks.
We unpacked and had a couples shower with the double shower in the villa.
We then made a coffee with the provided coffee machine and milk frother, which was a bit more fancy than the instant coffee we have at home.
In our villa we had a double shower with his and her sinks, coffee pod machine, selection of jams/spreads with bakery bread, selection of cereals, washer and dryer, dishwasher, spa tub which fits 2, queen bed, big tv and DVD player, DVD movies, outdoor area, fireplace with wood and a free bottle of sparkling white which was fantastic.
There were wine glasses ready by the spa bath which we made full use of.
The only thing which would of been great is labels for the light switches as there's heaps of them but that's no big deal.
We will definitely be returning to here from now on and make this our go-to stay away from home.
Highly recommended for couples.

A perfect spot for relaxing getaway. Quiet and great location to Halls Gap. On arrival we were met by 2 people (Deb and Cam)who were maintaining the property they welcomed us here . Stayed in Villa 4 , as soon as we opened the door we felt so relaxed and knew we would be happy here for the 3 nights . Had a issue with the hot water Deb and Cam was straight onto to and made sure it was fixed for us. Beautiful gardens and surrounds lots of wildlife kangaroos , echidnas and bird life. Thanks deb and Cam for making our getaway so relaxing . We will be back .

If we’d paid full price for the accommodation I would have felt hard done by. We stayed at Villa 2. But on the plus side there were clean, fluffy towels, clean sheets and provisions for a continental breakky. Lots of hot water and big shower. The villas have everything you need, full size fridge, WM & dryer, dishwasher and well equipped kitchen, smart TV. Great location, and love the kangaroos grazing at dusk right outside the villas. However, they might have been luxury villas back in their day about 20 yrs ago, but they are pretty daggy, tired, and not cleaned very thoroughly. Lots of cobwebs, dead flies and bugs all through the villa, and the curtains and blinds need a good clean/replacement, and a coat of paint wouldn’t hurt. Maybe replace the couch so it’s actually comfy to sit on. If you don’t look too closely, and relative to camping, it was luxury.

We had a villa for us alone. Fully equipped kitchen with really everything that’s needed. Bread, butter and jam was provided, also a bottle of champagne and milk. Tv perfect and also the guide for the visitors. Hikes and tours described as good as the instructions for the laundry and the oven. Bath tub with bubbles, fire place, outside sitting and bbq possible.

My partner and I stayed in one of the Marwood Villas for 2 nights in July and I can honestly say that it was the most beautiful weekend we have spent together. The villas are spectacular. The bed was extremely comfortable. The spa was lovely. The bathroom is large and looks out onto the beautiful trees at the back of the villas. The breakfast basket was perfect and the surroundings are so tranquil. I brought my pushbike, which was great as Marwood is only a quick ride/walk to the Halls Gap shops, where we purchased ingredients to make our own meals, rather than eat out - the kitchen has absolutely everything you need. My partner has a terminal illness and did not have much energy to go out, so we spent most of our time in the villa. My partner commented to me that it was the best medicine he could have imagined. Max & Barb (owners) are so lovely and extremely professional and Cam & Deb (the property caretakers) were so wonderful. They really made our stay simply perfect. Thank you to everyone at Marwood. You are all fabulous and made our stay amazing :)

Marwood vills are in a great location,mt zero road. Plenty of wildlife in the surrounding gardens ,and just a brief 10 minute walk into town. Welcoming bottle of sparkling wine ,and packets of cereal, loaf of bread included for breakfast.
The thing is though ,there are many places in halls gap with a lot of the same features. Whilst booked as luxury accomodation the villas are quite run down ,and need a paint and good clean.
The bed is comfortable, the couch and cushions not. There are insects in the fly screens and spider webs. A small water feature runs through the villa when it rains, and this is a nice feature, but it smells a bit when it has not flowed for a while and starts up,and if you were a light sleeper this might bother you. The outside furniture , if its plastic its dirty. If its metal ,its rusty.
Accessing the internet is through a third party filter ,that asks for your personal details.
A search of past reviews wil show some common concerns.
The pics on display are old, i have included some new ones. There is nothing much exceps a bit of an update and clean ,that is need to increase this place’s rating

We have just spent our first weekend away after Covid-19 lock down and decided Marwood would suit our needs. It met all our expectations and is located on in a very ideal location. Villa 3 was our Villa and is very romantic and relaxing. Its a short walk or ride to the centre of Halls Gap if you feel like a walk or just stay at the Villa and watch the kangaroos come and go. This was our second time we have stayed there and will defiantly be back in the future.

Absolutely tranquil and different to what you would expect in this region. Hi end accomodation with all modern conveniences.
Villas are far enough from one another to have a feel of solitude and relaxation. Close enough to town but still a drive. Definitely will consider this property on our next visit.
Not really suited for families with kids as there is no pool etc but it's not designed for it which suited us.
