The Astra staff have been friendly and helpful from the time I started booking and needing to cancel due to Covid lockdowns. This season we finally made it and we really enjoyed our stay.
We had a room on level 3 with the lift operational to all floors but choose to take the stairs most times.
It was great to be able to sit in the bar lounge even when they are closed. It is a comfortable area with a fireplace and good to get a spot early ahead of the crowds coming in.
I used the spa a couple of times and it was a relaxing experience.
Getting off the slopes and being able to have a sauna, steam room, magnesium pool and spa aided recovery.
The ski locker room was large and drenched gear dried overnight.
Bed was comfortable and there was plenty of storage space for our clothes.

My partner and I came to Falls Creek for a weekend, we were missing the snow since 2015. Him as a skier and myself as a snowboarder. Love the room and the bathroom, very modern and cozy.
We will definitely come back next year to do it again.
Astra has a cute library to read and relax, away from people and kids; their pool and spa are really nice, helps you to recover better.
The wifi needs to improve if you need to stay in touch with your kids overseas.
I highly recommend to stay.

We felt welcome the moment we arrived at the hotel. The staff gave us a quick tour of the hotel and its amenities. Overall the place was warm, cosy and we loved the amenities plus the friendly staff at the reception, restaurant and the snow mobile.

During our stay the state wide lockdown occurred and the hotel provided flexibility and options for the guests.

Thanks Mikaela for looking after us throughout our stay. You were above and beyond.

I booked Astra 6 days before I went there, for a party of 8 ( 4 adults and 4 kids) however when we arrived we told we had to all have a set menu at $90 a head (minimum) otherwise our teenage kids could have a meal from the kids menu which was too small for them. We ended up having our kids leave the restaurant... our meal was relatively good, however it was pretty salty, and the lamb dish was chewy. They were incredibly inflexible when it came to paying the bill, not allowing us to split it two ways. I could understand if ti was split multiple ways, but for a 50/50 proposition, which I would have thought was fairly common, they were unable to oblige. Disappointed, and will not be retuning any time soon.

Responded 11 July 2021
Thank you for taking the time to write your review in regards to your dinner experience with us, Emily. We offer 2 options when dining with us either a 6 or 9 course tasting menu, plus a children's menu for our younger diners. In light of your feedback, we are drafting a Teen's A La Carte Menu to bridge the gap between the tasting menu and the children's offering and we have advised our head chef in regards to your comments about the lamb. From time-to-time guests do request to the split the bill and we are happy to accommodate this, so unsure why this was not permitted this time around, our sincere apologies for this. We hope that we can welcome your family back another time. David Featherston - Venue Manager

I attended the spa for a treatment package but was not a guest.
Sienna who did my massage (sorry if I got her name wrong? Lovely English lady) did one of the best remedial massages I have ever had. I wish I could go back for another! The staff were professional, friendly and the place was beautiful. Thanks again

Can't recommend this for a second stay. I have just had 5 nights here, on my own as my partner was unable to get time off work in the end. Yes I know the snow is expensive, but the room was more than $500/night. On booking I emailed twice, and phoned once, to say that I would probably be on my own and to ask about the single supplement as documented on the website. All of these contacts were ignored. I asked once again on check out - to be told that I hadn't informed them that was the case, and they didn't accept cancellations, so I would be charged the full amount. My other complaints - the rooms are noisy (you can hear everything in the hallway), you are charged for your morning coffee (a fact never explained - for $500 bucks you reckon they could throw in a latte) and NO-ONE except other guests will ever offer to help you lug you suitcase up the stairs (I'm happy to carry it myself, but again, for $500 you can at least offer to help) I suspect the management is too busy sucking up to those they think are nouveau riche to be bothered to provide any assistance. The staff seem unhappy; and frankly, if these people think they are providing a luxury experience on the mountain they need to go back to hospitality school to learn about service.

We stayed for 3 nights midweek in the middle of August. Reservation was easy but prepayment was required.
Location
Not too far from the Falls Express Chairlift. It was a nice walk downhill from the lodge. The free shuttle’s stop is almost at the front door. No noisy pubs or bar in close proximity, thus, it was quiet.
Check-In
Was smooth and we were lead to our top floor (2nd Floor) room. No lift but they assisted with the luggage. Greatly appreciated!
Room
We booked the lowest category of rooms. It was adequate in size and pretty comfortable. Our request for a room with a balcony was met and it accorded us with a nice view of the thick snow covered back part of the lodge facing another lodge. It was nice being able to stand on the balcony… I miss that… 
Bed was huge and comfy. Room temperature was just right. There were two heaters, one in the bedroom and the second one in the bathroom (unfortunately this wasn’t working)... However, the room wasn’t cold and we didn’t really need the heater except for when we needed to dry some clothing.
An open shelve rather than a cupboard to hang clothing. There are also more shelves to store stuffs. Aside from these there are also two bedside drawers, a TV, a single armchair as well as a chair on the balcony.
It was a really good room and pretty quiet except for once when a group of people walked pass late at night talking nonstop.
Facilities
Astra has a nice cozy lounge with small fireplace. Many sofas and we really like the ones in a private lower level area of the lounge to the right of the fireplace next to the windows. It was nice just hanging out checking our emails or reading. The free WiFi was stronger here. Almost nonexistent in our room.
24hours free hot drinks such as many types of tea (loose leaf as well as teabags), hot choc and instant coffee, as well as at times, yummy cookies!
The lodge also has a good Jacuzzi and pool which we did use to relieve the aches and pains after hard day skiing. It was clean and peaceful.
Beside these there is also the ski wear drying room. Unfortunately it wasn't warm enough and our stuffs wouldn't have dried in time so we brought them up to dry in the room instead.
Food
We had dinner once and it was amazing! We shared a moreish scallop salad, seafood pasta, steak and a Pavlova. Everything was so delicious and beautifully presented.
We also had the daily breakfast. Almost the same everyday : Egg to order, few types of bread, Mushroom, Bacon, 3 types of cereal, pancakes, croissants, 3 types of juice..
In the previous reviews there were complaints about the additional charges for Espresso machine coffees. We were asked each time what would we like for hot drinks. We asked for Cappuccinos. Never once did the waitress inform us that it was chargeable. I even commented to my friend that they must have changed the policy after reading the negative comments since it looked like they no longer charged since there was no mention.
At check-out the man at the Front Desk informed us otherwise. I was surprised and said we were not informed that it was chargeable. You know what was the response? “Oh.. We can’t tell you everything!” (With a few giggles)!!! I didn't mind having to pay.. I was just slightly annoyed that the waitress didn't inform since they were nice and maybe it was common thing to charge additionally for Espresso Machine Coffees. But I just can’t believe the attitude of this man! How could he have said “We can’t tell you everything” when it comes to anything chargeable?!?! We thought we heard wrongly! It was such a pity that we came away with this lasting bad impression when in actual fact, it was a nice stay. It just goes to show that no matter how good the product, service is everything and bad attitude is just a NO NO…

Some would say you are mad to do a ski trip with a 3 month old but with the help of Astra's staff and falls creek day care this was possible! We enjoyed some great, albeit last minute snow for a few days. I must admit there was some trepidation in bringing a potentially screaming infant into such a nice, quiet & relaxed lodge but the Astra staff made us feel very welcome and made a cot available for our room. Rooms were clean and larger than others I've experienced on the mountain and they don't seem to suffer from poor hot water pressure either, vital after a long day on the slopes! We ate at the restaurant on one of the nights, they have a limited but enticing menu, all of the dishes were tasty and well presented. Highly recommended, high-end lodgings in falls, we will be back.

Old, disgusting, depressing place. The rooms are small and grey, windows have huge gaps, so it's really uncomfortable at night and swimming pool is mouldy and dirty. I do not know what they are talking about on their website how luxury this lodge is and the photos were probably made when the lodge was built, very long time ago. Had to wait for 2 hrs for our meal in a restaurant and the food was below average. Had to eat out all remaining nights. The worst experience ever, holiday ruined and have really bad memories of the stay. There are a lot of nice, tidy hotels in Falls Creek for that kind of money, so do your research properly unlike us booked the first, nice looking lodge over internet - big mistake!

My partner and I, with my cousin and her partner have just returned from a weekend stay at Falls Creek. We stayed for 2 nights at the Astra Lodge and had a very pleasing experience. The lodge is located half way between The Bowl and Falls Express, a free shuttle stop in located right at the front of the lodge and they would come every 5 to 10 minutes and would take you to either destinations which would only take a couple minutes.
The staff were very welcoming when we arrived, and even though the room was on the small side (panorama room) we didn't plan to spend much time in them. We made use of all of the facilities in particular the bar/lounge/restaurant area which had a beautiful fire going all the time and the bar specialised in vodka so we indulged in a vodka tour on one of the nights. We each had a massage after a day on the slopes and it was one of the best ones I have had. The pool/spa/sauna was also relieving after a day of skiing. We had dinner at the restaurant on the first night, which I highly recommend. The chef is new to the lodge so had only started the week prior to us arriving, but he had already made a good impression in his the short time he had been there.
