Our second trip to Pretty Valley and won't be our last. We stayed a week at the end of August. Everything from communication prior to our visit, assistance getting luggage to hotel, quality of rooms, food and everything in between is first rate. Rod, Carol, Barry and the team bend over backward to make your stay enjoyable. Location on mountain is second to none, particularly if you have young kids heading to ski school. its right near the main chairlift.

Food & drink - plentiful and great variety daily. Steak one night was high end restaurant quality in both cut and how it was cooked (and I'm very judgmental on steak and how its cooked). Drinks are reasonably priced (how can you go past $2 port!) and Barry's cellar is very good for both aged red and white wine.

Rooms - clean, warm and well serviced. Fresh towels replenished daily which my wife was over the moon about as most places tend to give fresh towels once every few days or only once on longer stays. plenty of hanging space and draws for clothes (we had a 6 share room). Some reviews we read prior to coming (the first time) said the rooms were on the smaller side but they are no different in size to any other lodge we've stayed at locally or internationally. Perfectly fine in my opinion.

Activities - for kids (we have 3 young girls) its excellent. even on down days there is a cinema, games room, lots of couches for board/card games and close to other services/cafes etc. kids never said once they were bored (always a win!)

Staff on this visit (and our prior one) have been diligent, polite and follow through on requests. for example, we wanted our bin emptied which we casually mentioned to one of the team on our way to lunch and when we go back from lunch it was done. Agree, its a very minor thing but that's reflective of how they operate. they care about the little things in the overall experience.

Having the ski rental at the lodge is so handy when there is 5 of us. Don't have to haul it up the mountain or wait in line in the crowds.

Spa's and pool are a great feature. got a work out from us and the kids.

Tip: don't bring heavy Pj's or heaps of jackets, no need. whole lodge is very warm. I spent most of the time when indoors (in room and in common areas) in a tshirt (and shorts but that's just me).

Overall, can't fault the place. great family ski lodge. you'd be very hard pressed to leave disappointed. You'd also be very hard pressed to walk out and not book again for the next year (we did).

My husband, 2 small children and I recently stayed at pretty valley lodge and all I can say is WOW.

We were greeted by Carol on reception who was so lovely and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed.

We didn’t have to take any snow gear as it was all supplied by the lodge and Matt who was in the hire room was brilliant with the kids making sure they had the right equipment as it was the first time at the snow.

Meals were also catered for with the Owner visiting the guest of an evening (even having dinner with some of them) which I thought was so nice as you don’t see this very often.

Floor staff were so accommodating and polite especially Nathan who made sure we had enough clean towels etc for the children.

Would definitely recommend the lodge if you have small children as the cinema, pool and spa’s were an absolute hit with them.

Will definitely be heading back!

With the COVID years now behind us, it was wonderful to return to Pretty Valley lodge with my family.

Barry, Carol, Rodney and crew have been busy during the forced break to make the lodge even more comfortable. The new steam room is a fantastic addition to the list of post skiing relaxation activities.

Yana sends a special shout-out to your pastry chef and the vanilla slice he makes for afternoon tea. She thinks it is unmatched on the deliciousness scale!

My only sadness stemmed from the lounge area's coffee machine being out of order. But fortunately there was a coffee shop next door to feed my addiction!

And finally, for those new to Falls Creek and wondering about the location, Pretty Valley has likely the best position within the village. The "all inclusive" accommodation package, including on-site ski fitting, makes getting the family onto the slopes with ease.

We have put up ith this place because my son likes the pool and kids club from 6 to 9. But this time around as well as last year it has gotten worse and worse and someone from health and safety needs to come and shut this place down. The rooms we were allocated were so tiny one of them with not a window that opened or could fit through in event of fire and any large ski bag you have just doesn't fit in the room so you have to leap over your luggage to get out the door. The owner arriving in Sunday announced to evreyone at dinner sorry the place isn't up to cleanliness standards and we were paying 950 a night. Our room was covered in dust with old dusty doonas and cheap pillowcases, opened the curtains and my 7 year old had constant asthma attacks couldn't breathe in the room. The common area has old furniture from 1960. If you need to escape the tiny room the common area is a daycare during the day. The mums and grandma's kids that don't ski yet take over the lounge and it's filled with dirty nappies yes they change the diapers on the lounges without putting a cloth or anything down and I saw diaper feces get on the lounge and the woman didn't even have a wipe to wipe her babies bum or the lounge. Most of the kids has runny noses and were screaming sick or running around. The walls are so paper thin when you are sleeping or in room you hear babies crying all night or people pooling on the toilet in the next room by your bedside. The 3rd morning I became dealthy ill I couldn't even leave the room to get any food. we later found out half the staff was out with covid and many guests the week before came down with it while staying there. Surely there has to be a law that the guests should be informed in a buffet style setting where you cannot stay in your room covid was vampant. The pool and spas were disgusting green yellow color and covered in a brown bacteria sludge. Make matters worse I was quoted one price we usually pay a s upon check out was charged 2600 more making the most miserable week of our lives 950 a night and I am still sick coughing and nauseous from this disgusting establishment. I will be making a call to the health department. Only good thing was food if only I could have eaten it and not got sick from the other unsanitary conditions.

Thank you for the opportunity to respond to the above comments. We do appreciate feedback from our customers. Last year this lady & her 7yo son stayed in a Queen bedroom with ensuite for the period 27 June to 2 July. Both mother & son enjoyed the stay & then requested to extend their vacation for another 9 nights. After 14 days at Pretty Valley, the lady said they were looking forward to returning next year. On the 6 March 2022, the same lady enquired to book a room with a Queen & single for 7 nights from 3 July to 10 July. The lady and her male friend & son were to occupy the room. Our Office Manager informed the lady the room was a small triple bedroom & she accepted that advice. The room in question has 2 regulation size windows. One has a fixed panel, the other is hinged. The windows were only upgraded 5 years ago. Our standard booking policy is 50% deposit to confirm the room within 7days & the balance no later than 30 days prior to arrival. This is where there was a change of attitude from the previous year. A part deposit of 32% was received more than a month after the booking date of 6 March, then a further payment of 29% received 2 months later on the 3 June. Interestingly, the 2nd deposit payment was made the exact day the balance was due. Final payment was not received until the day of departure & paid with the bar tab. The week after the initial accommodation booking was made, the lodge office manager regularly sent test messages regarding the payments. The guests may have been disappointed with the lack of space in the allocated room as they travelled with 8 mid to large pieces of luggage. The fire exit & safety procedures are clearly identifiable throughout the building & also on the inside of the bedroom door. The lodge has a modern up to date fire alarm system which is inspected by a specialist fire protection company every month. As a responsible alpine accommodation business we strive to provide a quality holiday experience for all our clients. This includes a safe, healthy & clean environment. Prior to the opening of the winter season, the entire lodge had a thorough deep clean including all the COVID protocol. We disagree with the allegations made regarding the cleanliness standard, old dusty doonas & cheap pillowcases. All linen & towels are laundered after each stay in our commercial laundry after each guests stay. The lodge purchases new linen, towels, pillows, mattress protectors, wool underlays & bedding on a regular basis. All of these items are quality hotel grade products. The spacious lounge/dining area is over 180 sqm & the customised lounge furniture was build in the 1990's. The solid furniture is serviceable, practical & comfortable. We have since spoken to many of the house guests during the week that the disgruntled family resided at the lodge and no person can recall 'dirty nappies & changing of diapers' in the lounge area. Senior Management questioned our staff regarding this matter & once again there was no evidence of these allegations. Sorry to hear that the lady became ill on the 3rd day of her stay. The staff offered to make her time as comfortable as was possible. During the winter months we are all aware that the flu & COVID were still very active. We did have one family the previous week that had a family member test positive. They phoned us and organised to leave the lodge immediately without contact with anyone. The same week 3 of our staff also test positive & were isolated in a designated staff facility located 200 metres from the lodge. There was no evidence that COVID was rampant either at the lodge or at Falls Creek resort. In early June we purchased 2000 surgical masks & 200 rapid antigen tests. These items are available to our guests & staff free of charge. Whilst on duty all our staff wear the surgical masks as a protection for our guests and themselves. Our outdoor pool & spas are maintained to Health Department standards. Our pools are tested regularly and there was no evidence of a green/yellow colour or any form of brown bacteria sludge. The lodge engages a specialist pool/spa contractor to keep the aquatic facility in top condition. Some additional point: The same week the complaints were made 16 of our 26 rooms have already been rebooked for the corresponding week in 2023. During the past 3 years the lodge has had extensive renovations including all the ensuite bathrooms & public toilet areas. Last week the municipal health inspector carried out a thorough onsite inspection of the premises including the swimming pool & spas. The written report was complimentary to our property. The lodge has been managed by the present owner for the past 43 years & the business is well respected within the Falls Creek community. Pretty Valley Lodge has been the recipient of numerous Tripadvisor category wins since 2015. The response was written by Barry Jones, Owner

I’ve been bringing my four children for many years. We tried elsewhere once and would never dream of going anywhere else again. Firstly as young children and more recently as teenagers with friends in tow, every trip has had its own challenges and we have been supported and cared for throughout. They even take the kids off your hands so you can eat your food rather than wear it, keeping it somehow fun for families and couples alike.

The staff never slack off and always have fun whilst making sure everyone is satisfied and safe. I don’t think you’ll find any other resort owner who sits down with your family and has a jolly chat while paying for the wine. Nice one Barry.

Food is incredible and somehow generously pleases all generations. True ski in / ski out, ski gear on site and included in the price - you can get a pint from the bar while someone else sorts your kids’ rentals. It’s also the cheapest way I can find of getting a family on the slopes in Australia fully catered. Happy days.

Big thank you to the patient and wonderful staff. If you have kids don’t bother with anywhere else.

We selected Pretty Valley Alpine Lodge after deciding to take our Melbourne based grandchildren (7 and 5 y/o) skiing in the recent school holidays.

IN SUMMARY: After our 5 night stay last week, we DID make the right choice, and we would definitely stay there again.

Positives:
On site ski and boot hire included in the tariff. Clothing too if you need it.
Great location near the base of Halley's Comet chair.
Oversnow luggage transfer on arrival/ departure.
All meals included, with multiple choices for entrée and mains with dinner.
Buffet breakfasts and lunches with daily menu changes.
The quality of the meals was excellent, every time.
Kids eat at a supervised 6pm dinner, and are then taken off to the small picture theatre (again supervised) so that the adults can enjoy their 7pm dinner in peace.... how good is that.
Great wine selection, all at reasonable cost (thanks Barry!)
Room: Compact, typical ski lodge style, but it was warm, and there was plenty of hot water.

Negatives: None to mention.... it WAS that good !
Highly recommended.

I have stayed here a number of times but with Covid and a few other issues, I hadn't been to Pretty Valley for 5 years. I was excited to see many upgrades and renovations including new bathrooms, luggage room, steam room etc.
As always the staff were friendly, polite and helpful.
The food continues to be amazing and my vegetarian daughter was suitably pleased with what was on offer. It was the first ski trip for my daughter's boyfriend and I think the food alone will bring him back.
The convenience of Barry bringing up our luggage and the ski hire in the lodge itself makes the energetic holiday that more enjoyable.
Of course the location is hard to top. Just look out the window to see if the lifts are running yet and off you go!

A huge thank you to Barry, Carol, Rod and the team at Pretty Valley Ski Lodge. This was our first time skiing as a family in Falls Creek and we could not have asked for a more perfect place to stay. The room was clean and comfy, the shared lounge and bar was welcoming and cosy, the meals were delicious and the wine list was impressive. The entertainment for the kids in the evening allowed the adults to relax and enjoy themselves after a day on the slopes. The staff were incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. We will definitely be back!

Such a great spot. Best location on the mountain. Ski in ski out and right next to the main lift.
Fabulous lodge. Rooms are simple but comfortable and clean and come with their own ensuite. Very comfortable beds. Main lounge area is large and cozy with a bar, movie and games room for the kids. Safe family friendly feel to the whole place.
Great value for money. Includes three generous meals a day and morning and afternoon tea. Dinner is 3 courses with 3 options for each course. Lunch and breakfast are buffet style home cooked with lots of options. Ski gear hire included which is excellent as you don’t need to traipse off somewhere else in the cold to sort that out. Staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. Do yourself a favour and book this place.
Wouldn’t stay anywhere else at Fall’s Creek 😊

Don’t look any further if you are wanting a totally indulged ski lodge to stay at. The rooms are spotless and very clean. The lodge has everything you need to enjoy your holiday. Heated Spas and pool, sauna, theatre room and games room for kids all make for an enjoyable family holiday. I was blown away by the outstanding meals which were of a very high standard. The staff can not do enough for you. Barry Carol and Rod are never far away to help with anything. Ski hire is also onsite so it’s a win win holiday. We have been coming here for 20 years and Pretty Valley gets better and better every time.
