We went and had dinner at Stella’s tonight.

Two people had the carbonara, one had fish of the day (snapper) and I had the pasta marinara.

I was told the carbonara was ok, the fish was a little dry and my marinara was ok. The mussels, larger prawns and the Balmain bug in the marinara were good. The smaller prawns were a little bland and the tiny scallops were rubbery. All meals were a bit pricey.

The staff were friendly and the food came out hot and at the same time.

All up, it was ok but I would not return a second time.

Room was large, clean and comfortable, although there wasn't enough water pressure to rinse out hairconditioner. A lot of doors in the hotel were locked over night and at 8.30, we had to ring someone to let us out the front door. This could be a fire risk. Otherwise, a reasonable place to stay.

Car parking was a bit of a problem as we visited on a busy summer weekend in Dromana but the next day it was fine. Not the owners fault as I think a lot of day trippers were using the car park to go to the beach. Besides that it was a lovely spacious room at a very reasonable price.

We really like visiting the area but find it hard to find accommodation that is reasonably priced. As it is very hard to find accommodation close to the beach for under $200 per night. The rooms were basic but large and clean. Room were also quiet. In terms of food, my wife said she liked her fish and I thought my lasagne was rather good. We both agreed we would stay again.

Firstly, I've slummed it before when eating out. I have looooowwwww expectations when it comes to eating at cheap eats here or overseas BUT Dromana Pub or Stella's Dromana Hotel is embarrassing. I feel embarrassed for them because they charge upper end prices for cheap eats quality food and experience. I've had better dinning experiences eating on side streets sitting on a milk crate with only my hands for cutlery. The quality to cost ratio is off the charts!

Let's dot point things cause I don't want to be here all day...

* Expensive for what you get- Many meals over $30-$35 with dinner plate sized Pizzas ($26+) and Salads (∼$25) clearly over priced. Good luck finding a menu online by the way.
* Several items not available ALL the time (since before current issues)
* Exposed conduit piping sticking out of walls, dirty carpet, dirty walls, smells like a granny's house, unclean bathrooms. Everything is done DIY or on the cheap, which is synonymous with the owners and there reputation (for the last 30 years, more?)
* Rude and impatient staff who couldn't give a toss- Not enough cutlery and menus for our table, lights to the restaurant were turned off and bar closed while we were still there (lunchtime).
* Poor quality food for the $ they charge.
* Table service provided but they carry around the eftpos machine and charge you then and there. When you mention the food isn't up to standard, they've got you by the balls.

You want a meal that Dromana Pub should provide? Go to Jetty Road Brewery or Jimmy Rum (both around the corner) or Rosebud Hotel for a better quality dining experience.

The place was mostly empty on a Saturday night - no wonder. Rude staff, very ordinary food. The waitress actually stated "We don't make pizzas like that here. Read the menu" when one of our party asked for a half and half. He then ordered a mushroom risotto which was oily and unedible. The woman who took our order did not listen to us, kept asking the same thing over and over, and we still got the incorrect orders. Given the place was empty, you would think they would be grateful for customers. Apparently we were just a big burden. Don't go there. Awful.

Worst dining experience ever. Half our table ordered, then at the drop of a hat they closed the kitchen "No more food"... at 6.40pm!!

Disgusting response by the owner "you want a meal, we'll do it if you want to wait three and a half hours"

Fu**ing cretin, do NOT eat here

Ordered two eye fillet steaks at $44 each and asked for them to be cooked medium rare. The steaks were served overcooked and could not cut them with a serrated knife. Also very big steaks which looked nothing like an eye fillet. Returned both meals and were then served one other steak cooked to rare standard, but still tough. The other steak was a piece of beef, maybe scotch fillet? which was full of fat and sinew. It was returned to the kitchen and no comment came from the staff or kitchen

Came with my two kids and appreciated that they have a bit of choice on the kids menu which is very reasonably priced. I had the fish and chips and thought it was very nice, not too oily with lots of chips and salad that came with it. It was a good pub meal.

FOOD = HORRIBLE/UNEDIBLE!!!!
Service staff member with red lipstick rolled it's eyes when asked to wipe down the table and refused as it was sooooo sticky and obviously never been wiped!! The parmigiana schnitzel was cold and the cheese just thrown ontop and was not grilled enough for it to be melted! The fried battered flake meal tasted like the fish was formed not a proper cut of flake. The chips tasted like they've been sitting in the bainmarie for hours definitely not freshly cooked! Also I can't comprehend why its so hard to take a drinks order and serve it to the table rather than waiting in line at the bar with 1 inexperienced bar staff.
Food attendant that collected our uneaten plates even though lacked training and knowledge was somewhat friendly.
A 3 plate carry and 5 plate clear should be second nature to you.
Extremely dissapointed so if YOU don't want to be, then I suggest you look elsewhere for a decent meal!
A pie from 7/11 would have been amazingly better!
Food 1/10
Cocktail 2/10 (bar Attendant has no idea)
Service 1/10
Management, hire a proper Head Chef and chefs not just cooks/kitchen hands. Train your food/beverage attendants the 101 of food service.
You have a great location and would be sitting on a goldmine if you actually cared a little
Overall 1/10 😞
