Settlement Hotel is listed on Trip Advisor under accommodation but my friend and I didn’t stay overnight; we went there for dinner. Usually there’s both a cafe and bistro but with the latter being renovated, we ate our meal in the cafe.

If you’re looking for somewhere that does great pub fare, generous portions and that has great ambience then the Settlement Hotel is the place for you. My friend and I ordered two entrees to split - salt and pepper calamari and arancinis - plus we each ordered a main. I had the fish and chips; my friend ordered pork ribs. Both the fish and calamari were nice and tender and coated in a beautiful golden batter. My friend was very complimentary of her pork ribs and both loved the chips.

The staff were pleasant but almost never around when one needed assistance. For example, we needed fresh cutlery for mains as ours was taken away with the empty entree plates; no matter what we did (eg. Raising hands or waving) to attract our attention, staff simply ignored us. Even when my friend went up to the bar to get some more cutlery, staff didn’t pay much attention let alone ask if she needed help. This is one of the reasons the hotel has lost a star in the rating.

I was also disappointed by the lack of desserts available. Again, this has contributed to the 4 (and not 5 star) rating.

We have been here a few times now and it’s a great place to get into last minute. Good food menu isn’t overdone with tones of options which makes it good. Kids meals are always a hit! Play room is fantastic (just need to remember my change)

Went for dinner with a group of 12 or so for children's birthdays. Staff were helpful and accommodating. We ordered the seafood platter at $56.00 for 2. The presentation of the dish was very ordinary, looked as though it was thrown on the platter randomly onto the top of the accompanying salad without much concern for aesthetics. The salad itself was very underwhelming as was the dressing, flavourless and drowning the salad. The others at the table were equally unimpressed with their individual dishes.

The rating I've given would have been even lower it wasn't for the staff who were friendly and as I said at the top accommodating.

We won't go again.

Pleasant staff let down by subpar food. Only good thing about the fisherman's basket were the chips. Few fried items ovre battered, over cooked, hard as rock and and served with a salad with a sad dressing. Last visit encountered bad staff service with great food. Not in a hurry to be back to find out what the next experience would be.

Over crowded and the food was terrible. I ordered the hot and cold seafood platter for $35 and received a piece of grilled fish smaller than the palm of my hand, two tiny prawns (the frozen supermarket type), two calamari rings, two scallops and a piece of smoked salmon. For $35 the amount of food was disgusting.
My son had a chicken parmigiana which was tasteless and took extra muscle to cut through.
The wait staff were obviously under pressure because they were surly and rude.

we booked 12 people and a high chair we were squashed on a table for 10 and as we had the menu emailed when making the booking we had our orders ready only to find a completely different menu and a large price rise. The seniors were very dissapointed as we went in Feb and the food and prices were great. We have been going once a week and now its gone up and the quality of food has gone down we wont be going again. We will go to Dandenong RSL for a fabulous feed at great price, its worth the extra petrol. I know they were busy and the staff were doing a good job of keeping up on Mothers day but food and information before we went as well as inflated prices let them down

My husband and I decided to have dinner at the Settlement Bistro on Tuesday night, and were very disappointed. My steak was tiny and half of it was gristle and a poor quality cut of steak. My husband ordered fish and chips and only got one piece of fish, no salad. Both were senior meals, which we order wherever we go, and definitely below par. We won't be back.

Paid $100 Bond. Still waiting for the return of the money.
I have called the motel twice only to get conflicting info and in fact lies from reception.
I would not recommend this place to anyone unless you can afford to lose $100.
They blame my bank! Interesting that the money came out immediately but does not get returned.

We stayed her one night whilst in Melbourne. Fantastic cosy. Beautiful rooms. Old style classic. The lady (Helen) on reception was so welcoming and very helpful. She was a real gem made you feel welcome. Food was great at the bistro. Staff at the bistro where very friendly. Would definitely recommend this place thank you

Under new management since a couple of weeks ago. The Bistro was excellent and so was the menu. Best of all was the 'Seniors' menu and prices. So much more choice and better prices than any other hotel we have been to this past year. Highly recommend weekday seniors outings.
