The most dreadful accommodation I have ever stayed in! Filthy mattress, uncomfortable bed. Given a "family" room, which others call a twin room. Very outdated (I'm talking 1960's). Maintenance has been neglected and things are simply 'patched up' very poorly. Room smelt of a cover-up product like carpet deodorizer. Had to ask for remote to A/C, even though advertised as having. Photos on web site are probably 30 years old, definitely out to deceive people. Avoid at all costs. Were charged almost twice the advertised price!

Please be aware if planning to stay in this motel...dirty rooms, stinking with cigarette smoke smell, broken door knobs..dirty towels in bathroom, no management on site, no toilet rolls, very disappointed..Not safe for a stay

This is extremely old motel and appearance from outside is not great. Looks like something from the 1950's. But is functional for short stay and really good price, cheapest if booking direct. Room was spacious and very clean, the bed was comfortable, shower good and hot, nice big fluffy white towels,but the tap/basin fittings are very dated. The room consisted of decent mini fridge, microwave, toaster, plenty of good clean crockery etc making it easy to prepare light breakfast/ snack meals. The owner is very friendly and obliging. Free wifi. Motel was fully booked out during our stay and people still calling in looking for room so appears popular.

We spent a comfortable night at the Clunes motel - no pretentious of being upmarket just very welcoming staff and a clean and functional motel room. Though our shower was more French shower size it was a good hot shower and the big white fluffy towels are a nice touch. Each room has an informative guide to the area with thumbnail pictures which I thought well done.

This motel is typical of the hundreds of older motels in country towns throughout Australia. The rooms are small, but everything is clean, the shower is hot, the fridge is cold and the bed is comfortable. The owner is friendly and obliging, enthusiastic even. Clunes is an interesting goldfield’s town and is well worth a look. We wanted to attend a couple of events in Ballarat but accommodation prices in town were high, being 20 minutes north of Ballarat at Clunes made a lot of sense. $89 a double over the net, cheaper if you look up the number and make a call.

We spent a very comfortable night here. Staff were very pleasant and our room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. We took our own breakfast supplies and the room had everything we needed to make it. Decent mugs for our morning tea and coffee too! Good value. Look past the retro facade and enjoy country hospitality.

Clunes Motel is not five star but I'm happy to give it 3.5 based on its cleanliness, it's value for money, and the great attitude of its owner Jerry. It is only two minutes from the centre of Clunes and has everything you need for a nite or two including good wifi and all the facilities you would expect, if a little dated.

This is a very old motel. We wondered what we had struck when we arrived. There was no one in the office although it had the open sign on the window. Door,was locked. We rang the number on the sign & given a code to enter our room. The room was a reasonable size for two. & clean but the bed cover was stained so that could have been changed. Wifi was excellent. Tea, coffee, milk provided. I did think the outside looked very shabby, a good sweep with a broom would have made the place look a lot neater. We never saw the owner and were told to leave our money on the bench. A great price though and we would stay there again.

I came 1000km across NSW & Vic and ended up in Clunes. Appeared at first glance to be a sad, long lost history town, and on arrival at this motel felt it may be the same. I had the Family room to myself and was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and renovation. Microwave, kettle, fridge (with milk & cold water ready), toatser, big flat screen TV, Disabled access ensuite, comfy mettress, loads of room. Management were hardworking watering the newly landscaped surrounds. I could feel the pride and friendliness, and enjoyed an extended chat. This stay allowed me the time to explore Clunes further and unwrap its warm soul.
