Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a one night stopover in Cann River. Jenny in Reception was friendly and helpful. This motel is fairly priced for their rooms. Older style but we found Room 6 very clean. Hot water is slow to come through but when it does there is plenty of it! Good location to the local Pub for dinner. No meals are offered at the motel however the Pub and Squires cafe or Bakery are all within walking distance to the motel. Would stay again if passing through Cann River.

Returning from NSW to Melbourne we needed a last minute accommodation (late night check in as well) for a night since we were traveling with our young children and a pet as well. Manager Debbie was kind enough to understand our situation and accommodated us with one simple condition that we had to check out before 10am as the room was booked for another guest the next day. We had a comfortable sleep and managed to check out at the agreed time. About an hour after check out and hitting the road, we get a call from Debbie that she'd found a wallet in the room we stayed in and was wondering if it belonged to us (such an honesty rare to find these days, especially from the people you do not know well). The wallet was surely ours and Debbie readily agreed and mailed it to us at her cost. Social media or online activities is not my thing but I am posting this review mainly for Debbie. Thank you Debbie for your honesty and professionalism; we wish you the very best in life.

Mixed review, The room was clean and adequate. However this double room only had one glass (badly chipped) one bowl, no tea bags and the microwave had large pieces of left over cheese and meat in it. Clearly housekeeping is not up to standard.
Most issues were addressed by management, except the lack of tea bags. Was told we were out of stock and order had not arrived. BUT this motel is right next door to a supermarket.

Had to push front door open as it was warped. The wood panel was coming away and was very shabby. Carpet was filthy dirty. Bathroom had spiders and webs in corners, the shower tile ledges were filthy. The bed was hard and uncomfortable. The bedding was fresh and clean as were the towels. Not worth $136! Wouldnt stay there again.

Great company, very friendly couple - Graham & Jodie- looked after us. Graham made me the perfect cup of tea. Jodie cooked up a delightful lunch. An enjoyable break for lunch in a historic place. Definately highly recommend The Cann River Hotel.

Fantastic country hospitality. Delicious meal of lamb-shank and perfectly cooked vegetables. Washed down with a Guinness. The couple who own and run the hotel were very friendly and happy to chat. We’ll stop here again for sure. :)

After an exceptionally long trip down the coast (the roads were packed with holiday makers) we got to Cann River on the way to Melbourne. The place was easy to find on the highway with one main street (blink and you could miss the entire town).
We ate at the bakery nearby which did a surprisingly good coffee.
Cann River has a few cute shops (some books, some second hand items and some food) but not very much. The location tends to be a better stop over rather than a destination.
The motel was very standard, but was clean, with good, friendly service, good breakfast, on time and reasonably priced. I've recommended the place to friends and family and my mother has also stayed at the motel twice when travelling between Sydney and Melbourne because it is comfortable, affordable and offers good service.

Stopped over for a night on my way from Canberra to Melbourne. Nice village surrounded by rain forest.
Friendly hosts, very clean and well appointed room for a budget price. I had a very comfortable nights sleep.

We stopped overnight at the Cann River Motel, during our 5 day trek from Sydney to Melbourne. After a fairly nasty detour south of Eden across to the Monaro Hwy due to road closures caused by bushfires around Genoa, we finally arrived at Cann River about 45 mins later than expected. The reception from the husband/wife team upon arrival was warm, and the room was surprisingly big, compared to some of the other properties we stayed at, whilst making our way down the east coast en-route to Melbourne. We had a fantastic meal with our 2 children at the local Hotel across the road (the Hotel and Motel are both in the main st), although we only just beat the rush of approx 80 Firefighters converging upon the only Hotel in town, for their fill of a warm meal and thirst quenching drinks. The town is only very small, so accomodation and dining choices are very limited. In summary, the Cann River Motel is easy to find, the rooms are clean and spacious, the service from the owner/operators is good, and at $110 per night, plus 20 something dollars for all 4 of us to have a hot breakfast delivered to our room (on-time) I have no hesitation in recommending this property as a good one-night stopover choice for travellers.
