Detailed Reviews
Being on a month long holiday we had been looking for good value motels. In Camperdown the other motels looked too pricey for us, so we pulled in to the Amble Inn Motel. The friendly owner didn't mind showing us a room first. It was just what we wanted. We could see the bathroom had recently been renovated and the room had a microwave oven so we could prepare simple meals. It was clean and comfortable. The location is excellent as it is only a short walk into town. We stayed two nights.

We found the Amble Inn Motel was good value for money. If you are looking for accommodation that dosen't cost a fortune then this motel is just right. Sure it is an older motel but recent renovation makes it clean and comfortable.
The owner was very helpful and suggested we have dinner at the local hotel which was also great value.

The Good - Cheap, quiet, accessible, handy to the right end of town, relatively comfortable.
The Bad - Dated decor, furniture, fittings and bathroom.
The Ugly - Dirty, old thin towels, "adhesive" shower curtain.

Room Tip:Â An end room at the back should be the quietest although road noise in minimal anyway.

Amble Inn is excellent value for money. Rooms are quiet and spotless , latest flat screen T.V's.This motel is unique - a true motel as they were built in the 50's..a trip down memory lane [road ?].Maintenance has been kept right up to date however.
It is not an anonymous chain motel with bare brick walls and a layout the same as the last motel you stayed in.
John the proprietor is pleasant and helpful taking real pride in his property..
There is a rather beautiful larege garden alongside with an undercover BBQ. A change from acres of bare black bitumen. A rare treat.

This is an example of a poorer class of motel in rural Australia that is really ready for demolition.
A poor standard of room, although no traffic noise from the Princes Highway was evident.
The proprietor was standoffish and did not make me feel welcome.
The motel shows all the signs of little investment over the years since it was built.

My boyfriend and I were travelling up to Grampians National Park and needed to find a place to stay for the night. When we first entered Camperdown we stopped at two other motels, both of which were charging $110 per night. That seemed outrageous given that we had just come from Melbourne where our hotel (that was in the city center) cost us $130 per night. Luckily someone in one of those other motels mentioned that our cheapest option was Amble Inn. So we drove down to find it.
The man the reception desk runs the place and he was really friendly and kind. The price was much more in line with our budget (around $80 - can't remember exactly). Unfortunately WIFI is not offered at all but that was actually kind of nice because the point of this part of the trip was to get away from the city and the hustle and bustle.
We had a cute little double bed room with a medium sized TV. An AC on the wall heat the place up pretty quickly and even better - ELECTRIC BLANKETS. So good because it was freezing at this point (early September) in Victoria. We had a fridge with a small carton of milk inside, free tea and coffee, a microwave, and crockery/cutlery. It was pretty clean on the whole, and very neat and tidy.
So let's be real for a second here - this place is not flash. It's dated, the bathroom door is a very meek slide-across one so you can definitely hear what's going on on the other side, the toilet paper dispenser is one of those public/school type ones that you'll struggle with, the towels could do with a better bleaching, and it could probably do with a teeny bit more cleaning in the deepest nooks and crannies. But I doubt you will find a cheaper place in these parts and it has the basics down pat so any minor gripes you may have are a sign of being too fussy. Put aside your city slicker attitude (like I did) and embrace the quirks of this place :)
It was warm, comfortable and quiet sleeping, cheap, hot shower water and decent pressure, and had a bit of character to it. We had a great time here and pretty much just left the key in the room when we checked out. Super simple.

My husband stayed at the amble inn last night and said it was the best sleep he has had, cosy rooms , great facilities and the owner was friendly. Unfortunately his stay was cut short but he will be a regular guest when we stay up that way in the future!

Amble Inn is a Old style Motel, straight out of the 50's with small rooms.Having said that it is very clean and the proprietor is super friendly and helpful. It suited our needs perfectly without breaking the bank.
