Well, this web site and the lady running this place was lovely but i have to be totally honest when i say that this is NOT a B&B and not Boutique accommodation, this is a Share House. The rooms are very sparse and sad, the beds were absolutely terrible and the sheets and towels so old that they were asking for replacement. The shower was very unclean and there wasn't even any soaps or anything provided. You need to really consider that if you want a warm dry room for the night in a share house that may have people falling down the stairs during the night drunk !!!! yes thats what woke us up, then this is ok. It is not a B&B and not a boutique hotel it is share accommodation with a great communal kitchen and as their is absolutely not signage out the front wouldn't be surprised if this was only meant to be for smaller parties.

The Bad:
The television reception in the bedroom was sketchy. Not a big deal but as there were limited tv stations to choose from, it would have been nice to have access to a DVD player.
There are a number of stairs to the downstairs section of the house. It wasn't a problem for us, however older people may find this difficult - just something to be aware of.
The bed was low to the floor and the pillows were a bit flat for us. Luckily we found extra pillows which made our second night stay more comfortable.
Be aware that although the house is only 500m from the main street and railway station, it is up a VERY steep hill! We like to walk everywhere, but even this hill was a bit of a challenge for us! If you have a car and plan to drive everywhere, then it wont be an issue.

The Good:
This is a shared house style accommodation, with separate bedrooms with ensuites, and a communal lounge and kitchen space. Distance to the railway station and main street is only 500 - 600 metres, down a very steep hill.
Communication with the owner, Lee, was excellent. She even met us at the place to show us around and ensure everything was ok. We had a room on the lower floor which had access to an outside balcony. The room was a good size. The bathroom was good with a hot shower. The bed was comfortable, but it was low to the floor like a Japanese style futon, so may not be suitable for older people.
We had access to the entire house and as there were no other visitors staying, we were able to enjoy the peace and quiet and privacy by ourselves.
Overall, a quiet and comfortable stay in a clean and tidy house, close to Belgrave Station and Puffing Billy.

A great place to stay with the family following our daughter's wedding at nearby Lyrebird Falls. We booked all five bedrooms for $500 so it was great value for my two sons and their partners and the bridesmaids and groomsmen. Lee was very helpful with my booking and was there to greet us on our arrival before we headed off to our daughter's wedding. Each room has its own bathroom and was clean and well set out. In the morning we were able to make ourselves a coffee before we checked out. The view of the bush land was good too. The only improvement I can think of would be a new shower head, it was pretty small and better pillows. I don't think I would like to stay here if there were other guests I didn't know staying here as it has a shared kitchen and lounge area.

This home nestled in the Dandenongs is special. Clarelee is a charm and the large house has an enormous living and dining room with spectacular views of the bush and the bay. There is a great porch upstairs and also one downstairs where three of the bedrooms are. The house is located minutes from everything of interest. It was so nice, after a day of hiking and driving around, to be able to come back a relax on the porch, looking out at the view, listening to the parrots and wildlife. We highly recommend it.

We booked into Clarelee for the night as it is in close proximity to Puffing Billy. It is in a great location with nice views. The house has great potential to be a good B&B. Unfortunately, we were not made to feel very welcome. While we had corresponded with the owners via e-mail prior to the visit, we did not meet them at all during our stay. Additionally, the B&B appears to very much be the owner's home first, and a B&B second. In the shared area, particularly the kitchen, it is not clear what facilities are for guests, and what are not. We had arranged for breakfast as part of our accommodation, but there was nothing left out for us to use in the morning, and as mentioned preivously, the owners were not around to ask. We ended up heading out to a cafe. The owners did offer to refund our breakfast costs via phone later. Our room was clean enough though, but as mentioned in another review, the soap in the bathroom appeared to be watered down.
Overall, this is a B&B in a great location with great potential, but the owners really need to place more focus on looking after their guests.

Clarelee has the potential to be a very nice BnB but it appears to be totally unkept at the moment. In the communal kitchen/lounge area we were greeted by washing drying on the clothes horse, rubbish from previous guests, several blown light globes and cupboards full of miss matched and dirty crockery! Unfortunately it didn't get any better in the bedrooms with a mouldy bathroom, watered down soap, no shampoo or conditioner, no hair dryer, damp towels and of the two spare blankets one was dirty and the other full of holes! Clarelee is quite possibly the most disappointing accommodation I have ever stayed in.

Booked a room overnight here Paid deposit to confirm also in August for a stay in April 2018. January this year contacted by the owner saying they double booked and that we would no longer be staying here. Seems they got a better offer with the whole house being booked out , so decided to cancel my booking. They found alternative accommodation but it was further away not in Belgrave. Very disappointing. So beware if owners get a better deal you can get shafted and end up elsewhere, even if booked months in advance.

We stayed here for the night as we were doing the puffing billy dinner dance and didn't want to drive home. This accommodation is very close to the station which was great for us but the hill if walking home is a killer!. Lee was very friendly and welcoming. The room was lovely and the bed comfortable. Lee had gone to the trouble of putting the heater on in our room before we got there.
I recommend this accommodation and for the price it was excellent value.
