Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Spend three nights here. Very convenient for us to do day trips to wineries, art silos and breweries The cottage was excellent, very well designed outfitted. Very comfortable bed. Huge spa, unfortunately did not use. Could get lost in the huge spa😜 Pretty close to many of the main attractions.

Great property for a family stay, including full kitchen and laundry facilities. Walking distance to town, easy conctactless checkin, good wifi, plenty of space and the most comfortable beds in the world. Just what we needed as our base for Beechworth - we left feeling refreshed

The cottages are know known as Beechworth Cedar Cottages after having been sold. The owners are Kerry and Adrian Haddock. This created some confusion when I initially tried to book. The cabin we stayed in (Drummond) was a fully self contained 2 bedroom facility with on bedroom closed off as we only booked it for one. The cabin is very well equipped with everything needed for the stay with full kitchen and laundry. The cabin is also fitted with a double spa in addition to large bathroom and separate toilet. The area is quiet with very nice surrounds. The main part of town is about a 1km walk along the lovely landscaped rail trail. Lake Sambel is only 200m away. Would thoroughly recommend and will stay again next time we visit Beechworth.

We stayed here for 5 nights in the Ah Yett cottage in late March and found it very pleasant. They're well located, close to town, and plenty of space just for the two of us, and the bed was very comfy. It was lovely to just sit out on the deck in the evening with a glass or two of wine. We did find that a previous visitor had put a clean cracked wine glass back in the cupboard, and there's no wifi which is very uncommon in this day and age.

This was our fourth stay and sadly our last. The attention to detail and having it in hands of real estate has made it loose it's personal touch. Toilet leaked/dripped the entire 4 days so was hard to sleep. When I went to start the spa found bodily hairs so then I had to clean that. The heat sensor in the spa also didn't work. Cobwebs everywhere so hasn't been cleaned properly. BBQ was rusty and dirty. Gas bottle also empty. From a once fabulous place with owners who ran and cared. To owners that are oblivious look elsewhere for a place to stay.

Hi. Even though the property has recently changed hands, I still found the property brilliantly presented, clean and roomy with the added touch of fresh flowers. The grounds are large and the units well separated. Beds, King size, are extremely comfortable. The kitchen is well set out and user friendly with all appliances supplied. Beechworth itself put on its best weather and is central to all the attractions in the region. We went with friends this time and they also enjoyed the both the cottages and the day trips around the region. The first Saturday of the month had a local produce and bric-a-brac market. Too many goodies to list but loved "Jenny's Jams" Raspberry - delicious.

We fell in love with Beechworth and the lovely local people. The Woolshed falls and many historical sights to visit were real highlights. Great range of cafes and restaurants for families including: The Brewery for great pizzas and other meals and really good service, a great old style family Chinese restaurant, a selection of bakeries and the sweet shop and really good coffees and snacks at Project 49 in Ford street. However, from an accomodation perspective it was sadly not so memorable. The Beecheorth cottages had highly rated previous reviews and photos all looked great so were were most excited for our two night three day stay. Sadly it looks like many of the positive aspects & nice homely touches mentioned in the previous reviews (including welcome basket of some local produce, coffee machine/pods, blankets on sofas to name a few) are all history as well. Important note is all the good reviews are from the previous owner/management who sound lovely and were clearly great hosts. We had quite a different experience. We had to ask for kitchen basics like dishwashing liquid, dishcloths, tea towels etc as had not been supplied in the kitchen and we were cooking for two families. Standard of cleanliness was as per the other most recent review, average and less than acceptable. Finding dirty dishes and teacups in cupboards on arrival made us worry about cleanliness overall. New real estate agent looking after property was rude, accusitorial and completely unprofessional after we queried where to find missing items and mentioned dirty crockery. Property manager even went so far as to acuse us of not telling the truth about cleanliness issues. So upsetting and seriously why would we bother to waste our precious time. Didn’t need to be such big issues but was so badly handled by the new management. Such a shame as actual cottage and location in relation to the town and nearby lake is all great. We would not come back unless the property was managed by a different agent and cleanliness was addressed.

This was our third time stay at the cottages and sadly our last. Could noticeably see the difference and no personal touches since change of owners & being handled by a real estate. Place was not as clean as our previous stays. Went to use BBQ had not been cleaned for a very long time the build up of oil and grease was disgusting was prepared to clean it till the 2 cockroaches climbed out of the grill. So cooking was to be done on the stove except as the exhaust didn't work windows had to be open. Not great on a 1degree morning or a cold evening.

We stayed in the Ah Yett cottage which seems very nice. However, we were there at the end of July which is the middle of winter in the Victorian High Country. We were there for walking along the rail trail so totally expected it to be cold. We live in Canberra where the winter overnight temperatures can drop to -8C and grew up in the UK - so we are used to the cold. The cottage has very high ceilings, lots of windows and unlined curtains - all great in the summer or even late spring/autumn. I would imagine there is little or no insulation. There were two reverse cycle heaters placed high up one in the bedroom and one in the large open plan lounge/kitchen/dining. The only other heating was a tastic ceiling heater in the bathroom. Understandably it was cold. After the first night, when we couldn't get warm, we rang and asked for additional heating of some sort. We were basically told to crank the heating up which we did. They did offer to check the heating was working OK which we should have taken them up on as I note from other reviewers that they did not find the cottages very cold. By cranking up the heating we were able to finally get the rooms warm at about 10pm which was not much good after a day out walking. There were electric blankets on the bed which were lifesavers. The cottages are advertised for 'romantic' stays with a 'luxurious double spa bath'. Believe me it was much too cold for romance and no chance of using the spa bath as there was absolutely no heating in that room which also had floor to ceiling windows! It was very disappointing and we left two days early to go back to our non luxury cottage in Canberra where the overnight temperatures drop to -8C but we are warm! All in all if you want to visit it the lovely little town of Beechworth think about your tolerance for cold before you choose these cottages in winter.
