Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Not really what we expected. The grounds are lovely and the restaurant and staff are amazing, the rooms however leave a bit to be desired. The bathroom set up is weird, the shower is on one side of the room and the toilet and vanity on the other as you enter the room. Our towel rail broke every time you out a towel on it and the old wall style hairdryer was kinda hanging off the wall!! The shower has mould in the grout and the water pressure was abysmal. Again the staff were lovely, shame the restaurant doesn’t get more patronage. They supply a continental breakfast for $15, we just went to town instead. They said they don’t do breakfast as they loose too much money!! We didn’t use the pool or facilities as it wasn’t warm enough. I probably wouldn’t stay here again. So many other options in the area.

Four of us ate at the Oak View and will return. The food was delicious, well presented and generous. There was also a good range of local wines at sane prices, many by the glass. This meant we got to sample many of the region's wines.

We booked in on spur of the moment & were not disappointed. Service was friendly, timely & helpful. The menu was such a surprise covering a blend of options including vegetarian. Portion size is very generous, I had the coconut prawns, my husband had Duck Spring rolls & both enjoyed our Scotch fillet steak which was cooked to perfection & so tender. No room for desserts but I did see some served & they looked delicious. Local Wines & beers supported a thoroughly enjoyable evening at a very reasonable price. We stayed in a Air BNB close enough to walk but they also have accomodation & taxis are readily available if you wish to enjoy the wine selections. Best wishes to continued success & we will definitely return.

We have stayed at the GK a number of times and it is our favourite hotel. The restaurant meals are just perfect. Service is flawless and accompanied by good humour and a genuine desire to make your evening special. The rooms are always spotless and are always reasonably priced. We would like to make special mention of Rose who is such a warm hearted caring and fun member of the team and who really sets the standard for superb hospitality. Thanks guys we will be back and we will certainly be booking into the restaurant each night.

Not great. Tiny, stuffy rooms, with cheap fittings and breakfast only from 8am. Even the cookies in my room were stale. The grounds are quite lovely but it’s a weird location, in that it feels creepy and isolated. This hotel could be so much more.

We decided to come to Beechworth on relatively short notice on the Melbourne Cup long weekend so we were delighted to find a 2 night vacancy at the George Kerferd. Our room is a deluxe king spa suite - very spacious and everything is working (wifi is good). Price is good for a weekend in Beechworth! Breakfast eggs benedict and coffee were good and the outlook is wonderful - great gardens and sunshine (it was raining when we arrived).

Great stay, friendly welcoming service, rooms are cosy and comfortable. Pool area is good and the restaurant has a cool outdoor area. The grounds surrounding the hotel are nice to stroll around Only a short walk to town approx 10 minutes, it is uphill on the way back.
