If you're looking for a place to decompress from the pressures of modern work and life, then Cimarron should be a the top of your list of places to consider. There's much to really like about this place: the bush setting, the ocean views, the birdlife, the inspiring timber construction of the house, the wonderful collection of books of browse, and of course the delightful company of hosts, Paul and Wade. Don't come to Cimarron B&B if you're after black pudding, Royal Doulton figurines and lace doilies, but do come for the chance to re-charge your batteries, reduce your sleep deficit and re-connect with the simple pleasures of the day. Within easy reach of Melbourne by car (90mins), but feels like a world away. Highly recommended.

Absolutely gorgeous! This was our first stop on our Great Ocean Road drive and it was perfect. A beautiful cosy cottage tucked away in the bush with a lovely view, wished we had stayed for longer! Wade, one of the owners, was delightful and put on a lovely breakfast in the fantastic living room/ library accompanied with a great conversation! Thank you so much for letting us stay in you lovely home! Comfy bed, beautiful house, great host - a must visit!

What a wonderful place. Along quite a bit of the early miles of the Great Ocean Road (coming from Melbourne), there is quite a bit of second home sprawl along the coast; and there are also quite a few rather dull motels.
Cimarron is something completely different - set in the bush on the outskirts of Aireys Inlet (surrounded by park/forest, naturally built by Wade (one of the owners) in gorgeous wood, fascinating hosts in Paul & Wade, lovely rooms (just 2), best granola I found on a 3 week trip round Oz, great views over the bush & sea, peace, stars at night! Locally would recomment A La Greque and the local pub for food - both excellent.
I bet that anyone staying here wished they'd booked an additional day! Worth a serious detour.

We generally agree with the previous comments under "Quiet Bush Retreat". We found our hosts Wade and Paul both congenial and helpful.
We stayed in the spacious Eagle Room which has ocean views from the bed. The pleasant bathroom is right next door and has everything you need, including a view of the national park at the rear.
The big room downstairs was available for quiet lounging around on a sofa and reading from Wade's large collection of books, some of which are for sale at reasonable second-hand prices, for those interested.
As advertised, there is a continental breakfast available at 9am, but it is one of the best continental breakfasts I have ever had with high quality granola, yoghurt, croissants, toast and delicious homemade jams. Highly recommended.

What a perfect oasis a short drive inland from the Great Ocean Road at Aireys Inlet! This stunning, hand crafted/built house with its abundance of beautiful timbers and brick is set on a rising 5 acres of lush, Australian gardens/bush with magnificent ocean views. My very spacious bedroom with ensuite, more like a bedsitter in size, was accessed by its own entrance from the paved, private patio where I enjoyed many a cup of tea, lost in the ocean vista and the songs of the kookaburras. While I treasured my privacy, I had open access to the wonderful main living area of the house - an extensive open plan "room", lined with crammed bookshelves. The traditional return verandahs protect the house from our extreme weathers. All this would have been enough to keep me happy but, as an added bonus, Paul and Wade, my hosts, were perfectly attentive to my needs without being intrusive in the slightest - sometimes a fine line to walk. It was stressed that I should make myself at home including making cups of tea whenever I wanted; a beautifully fresh breakfast was served each morning - much more than I could eat - at a time to suit me; tips on all things "Aireys Inlet" to enhance my visit - the organic icecreamery is a must - and interesting, engaging conversation when I felt the need for company. This was particuarly true of Paul, the perfect host, as Wade was often busy with his academic requirements. I had booked for 3 nights, an extravagance I was allowing myself, but stayed for 5. It was just too hard to leave! Thanks again Paul and Wade.

My partner and I much enjoyed our stay at Cimarron. We were stationed in the Cloister room which was quite lovely and had a private entrance and exit. The early morning views from the front porch were quite breathtaking. Also very delightful were the pretty birds whom owners Wade and Paul regularly feed. One ate bird seed right out of my hand! Cimarron may not be the most luxurious accomodation I've ever stayed, but was certainly amongst the most tranquil and homey. The continental breakfast was more than adequate with lovely artesian breads. I shall return if I go to Australia again.

After a bit of a mission to find Cimarron (but we were jetlagged after 12hrs flying) we were welcomed by Paul and Wade despite us catching them just about to go for a walk. Our room was really charming with a fabulous view over the gum trees to the peninsular and the ocean. Downstairs, this B&B has a library to rival all - it feels like the sitting room you wish you had at home: if, of course, you lke a serene, booklined, comfortable place to relax. We watched the sun set, hoping to see kangaroos. But to fit with the theme of the rest of our month in Australia, not a Roo whisker to be seen. Breakfast was the only slight let-down: it was a nice-enough continental breakfast with home made meusli and some good breads from the village but was way overplayed as being 'gourmet' so expectations were high. And particularly so as Paul had told us he used to be a chef! However, there was nothing at all wrong with the food and the setting and accommodation are lovely. They seemed really aware of water preservation and recycling etc as well which was good to see.

We stayed here for 2 nights for a family wedding in nearby Fairhaven so the location was perfect for us.
We arrived late at night and were welcomed by Wade who showed us to our room, the Cloister room, which was the smaller of the two rooms but easily large enough for our needs. Our hosts were friendly and helpful while allowing us our own time and space which was ideal.
Breakfast was good and Paul catered to any special requests. As others have mentioned, the granola is fantastic.
Located next to a state park Cimarron is a peaceful and comfortable place to stay in Aireys Inlet and I would definitely recommend it to anyone staying in the area.
