We fell in love with our room the moment we walked in. It's so pretty and all the finishing touches just really made it. It's a great location for exploring the great ocean road and there are plenty of lovely restaurants around too.

The pool is nice if a little cold. The only thing we were disappointed by was that the cocktails at the pool were literally just poured straight out of a bottle with ice added. After the first night we went down the road to the supermarket and bought the exact same bottle for the same price as two drinks.

We really loved our stay and would happily come again if we were in the area.

Hello and thank you for the beautiful review! It's so nice to hear how much you loved your Sunnymead experience. We're so pleased to hear you got to try out Sunnies Pool Bar and while we totally understand your comments, we have tried to put the 'fun' in functional as it's a small outdoor bar and a limited but tasty menu. We have a more extensive and creative cocktail menu in our beautiful onsite restaurant, Santara! We hope to welcome you back again soon and thanks again for the constructive feedback.

We had only booked a one-night stay to do the Great Ocean Road, all through our evening we were musing that we wished we had been able to spend more time in Aireys Inlet just to be able to enjoy the hotel.

When the room was first booked, we assumed that it would be nothing more than a clean room and bathroom to rest and reset on the road - we arrived to what looked like a stunning spa resort! The lady we spoke to at check-in was lovely and warm, was happy to give us plenty of information about the area and then handed us our key for the room.
As soon as we opened the door to the room, our jaws hit the floor and we almost thought we had to go back to the reception because we'd accidentally been given someone else's suite. Nope, it was ours! The rooms were bright and warm, wonderful decor, a bed so comfy we were almost late for check-out. There was a wonderful cocktail kit (complete with spirit, garnish, syrups, juice, etc) the room also came with a Manhattan shaker, coup glasses and tradition hawthorn strainer, bar spoon and jigger, there was a kettle, toaster, and coffee pod machine.
The bathroom had a WONDERFUL waterfall shower with beautiful tiling and basin sink. We were almost sad to be going to dinner with friends away from the premises as everything was so lovely!

Thank you again to the wonderful staff who took care of us, we had such an amazing stay!

If you find yourself in Aireys Inlet - be good to yourself and check into Sunnymead Hotel!

My daughter and I have been excited for our stay at Sunnymead and it did not disappoint! From entering the reception area you can immediately tell so much thought and care has gone into this place. Our room was a delight. Big and comfortable bed, thoughtful decor and we loved the pops of yellow that add to the sunny vibe. The room had everything we needed. Housekeeping was attentive with replacing used dishes quickly and they were bright and cheerful. The location was exceptional. We ditched the car and we were within easy walking distance to all that we needed.

Hint - definitely head to the top shops and enjoy a plentiful and delicious cheese platter at Le Comptoir.

Thanks for the wonderful accommodation Sunnymead, we can’t wait to come back!

The Lightkeepers Inn Motel conveniently located alongside the Great Ocean Road in Aireys Inlet is definitely one place that I am more than happy to recommend to my fellow travellers.

From the time of my arrival right through to my departure the Management were extremely helpful and proactively ensured that all Government imposed Covid-safe requirements were met. This was greatly appreciated and definitely helped me to feel safe and secure for the duration.

Everything Needed to Make You Comfortable:

Whilst one could be forgiven for describing the building & fixtures as dated the decor and amenities themselves are modern. Items included in my room were a Microwave, Flatscreen Television with Remote, Air Conditioning / Heating with free access to the Internet via Wi-Fi.

The bed was comfortable, the sheets & pillow cases fresh & crisp. As for hygiene, the bathroom was one of the cleanest I have ever had the pleasure to experience.

The gardens with the tall Palm Trees are pleasant and with being situated at only 300 metres from the Beach there is ample reason to consider this Motel when planning your next trip to the region.

Full Disabled Access is Available:

For those with specific needs there is a Unit available that is decked out with Disabled Access. An allocated Car Space is assigned directly opposite the room for those with a valid Disabled Parking Permit and there is a ramp provided for wheelchair access. The Bathroom is huge and designed to accommodate mobility equipment. I was not charged any extra to use the Modified Unit and overall it seems the tariffs are very reasonable.

Happy to Recommend:

All in all there was nothing at all to find fault with. Management were friendly, helpful and considerate to my needs. Being directly opposite the Aireys Pub, within walking distance from the Beach & close proximity to the local Shops gives visitors a great opportunity to leave the car behind at the Inn.

I also suggest that you take the time to check out the two Monuments that are found at the Main entrance. Extremely interesting is the story one tells of the Australian "Mystery of the Mahogany Ship" - a fascinating piece of History that is sadly not readily shared.

Thank you for reading this review, we hope that it is helpful.

I was going to book to stay at what used to be a simple, serviceable, reasonably priced motel, only to find it had been updated, rebranded “boutique” and was $400 per night.
I felt sad that many people are now pretty much priced out of a getaway along the Great Ocean Rd during summer.
Affordable motels like this was when it was as the Lightkeepers Inn Motel are all but gone.
Everyone deserves a holiday and there is a desperate need for basic, simple affordable accommodation on the surf coast. There is more than enough top end “boutique” accommodation.

Hey Julia, thank you for taking the time to review us. While we appreciate your honest feedback, we're disappointed to see that you haven't left any comments on your experience at Sunnymead. As you would be aware, rates are generally higher in peak seasons across the region. We're sorry to hear that you didn't see the value in your stay as we have put a lot of thought into our suites and making sure we provide a memorable experience for our guests! Could you please let us know if there is anything specific that you found unreasonable? Feel free to contact us directly so we can learn more about your stay. Thanks!

Hotel located on the Great Ocean Road, in a very quiet little town.
The establishment is very well appointed and decorated: large rooms with seating area, huge bathroom, well equipped.
The mid century pool is lovely with an afternoon bar.
Extra: spa.

The restaurant was closed during my stay but a Greek restaurant is right next to the hotel.
Warning: it is very quiet .... small grocery store quite expensive in Aireys Inlet, plan ahead!

This motel is designed and decorated like a ritzy resort but don't let that distract you it still retains a wonderful welcoming homely feel. Comfy beds, well appointed rooms, friendly service that can't be beaten. Their body wash and shampoo is divine. We love it here. Repeat users.

It was a chilly night, so we didn't use the pool — and we are not really spa people, so we didn't take advantage of that. But the room was spotlessly clean, cheerful, and cleverly decorated, the bed was very comfortable, and we were very glad to have spent the night here as stop #1 on our three-day trip along the Great Ocean Road.
The staff we interacted with were outstandingly helpful and friendly. Highly recommended!

This place was such a pleasant surprise! We stayed here for two nights as we ventured down the coast to the Great Ocean Road. The lady at reception is a lovely sweet mannered woman who was more than accommodating and friendly. The rooms are clean and comfortable. And it just so happens to be located directly across from the Salt Brewery which is one of the best little businesses I've stumbled upon in my travels! We had the privilege of eating an easy dinner across the road with a few bevvies to boot, and then strolling back over to our motel for an easy night in.

Would highly recommend this place. We will definitely return!
