Fully self contained cottages..we stayed with two teen girls who got quite bored, would be better for a couples romantic weekend away. About 15 minutes walk to shops, pub etc. Has a tennis court and spa. Coin operated laundry and dryer.Very relaxing but will stay nearer town and the beach next time with the kids.

I booked a weekend at Split Point cottages for my daughter and son-in-law as a birthday gift. The receptionist was quite keen to 'push' the pet-friendly accommodation, and as they have a dog that travels with them a lot, I thought it was a good idea to bring her along, and they agreed.
Don't get me wrong. The accommodation, the setting and the ambience were just what they were looking for. I agree with the other reviewer about the availability of the spa. Luckily they did their homework and were able to avail themselves of it during the hours of availability.
However, the tone of their entire weekend became stressful instead of relaxing when the pet-friendly enclosure failed to keep their dog secure. She first of all pointed out all the holes in the fencing, then when they patched them up themselves, she proceeded to dig under the fence (only an earthen floor). She escaped once during the dark and had to be tracked down, and the only way to keep her in there was to tie her up as well. On reflection, they would have preferred to leave her home and have a more relaxing weekend. Pity, as she adored romping on the beach.
Bit of a problem dropping the keys back as well. Although ready to leave before 10.00, the outlet did not have a key return box, and had to wait until after 10.00, until someone turned up.

My wife and I decided to spend 3 nights here on ANZAC weekend.
We arrived after dark and had trouble trying to find where to park our car as there was very little lighting outside, and the one light that was outside the unit, was behind a huge tree so it was no good at all.
Once inside, the unit was very clean and inviting. The rammed earth walls are great, our unit even had a shell embedded in the wall which was suitable considering where the units are. The beds are very comfy and there were plenty of towels, and the water pressure is fantastic.
We went to use the bbq outside our unit and when I owned the lid, I saw that it wasn't clean. There was old fat on the tray and bits of old dried meat in the grill. Needless to say I closed the lid and cooked our food in the fry pan inside.
The towel rail in the unit we were in (unit 3) needs fixing as it is falling off the wall.
Also, the batteries in the remote control for the tv were flat. I know it sounds trivial, but it's one of those things that should be checked.
Apart from a couple of little things, w had a great time during our stay there. It's cost to the shops and a great pub. The only thing that no-one has control over is the weather, which when we stayed was pretty crappy, but that's no-ones fault.

2 bedroom cottage was perfect for our stay.
Quiet, bush land setting.
Easy access to Great Ocean Road.
Picturesque Split Point Lighthouse a short drive away.
The fire was perfect.
Well equipped laundry room.
Didn't get to take advantage of all the activities (free bikes, spa, tennis court, etc)
Would definitely recommend.

What a lovely bush location. The cabins have all the facilities you need; stocked kitchen, comfy beds, adequate linen, woodfire (and plenty of wood), outdoor furniture, BBQ, car parking space etc.

The cabins are secluded enough to be private if you're wanting a more intimate space, but close enough if you're in a group to commune together.

We rented a one bedroom cottage but when we arrived we actually had a two bedroom cottage. It had a fully equipped kitchen, microwave, hotplates and oven. The bed was a king size bed and the mattress was firm. Spotlessly clean and it had a wood fire with wood and kindling supplied. Also matches and firelighters were there as well. There was a little secure area if you were travelling with your dog complete with kennel and hessian bed off the ground. A private outdoor area with your own bbq was also supplied. There was a full size tennis court, hot tub (only open between 4 and 9pm) and another communal bbq area. they also supplied bikes & helmets if you wanted to go for a bike ride. This was all situated about 10 mins walk from the mail town centre of Aireys inlet.

We stayed in cottage A for two nights mid-December.

The cottage is fully self-contained, with two bedrooms - one double, the second with a bunk and single bed.
They have pretty much thought of everything you could possibly need; the kitchen is fully-stocked, dish clothes, tea-towels, washing detergent, bin-liners, paper towels & toilet paper; there is more linen, pillows and blankets than you could possibly need; wood, matches and fire lighters inside, while there is outdoor furniture, a clothes lin with pegs and a bbq for each cottage.
Shared laundry facilities are available on sight.

There is pleny of natural light in the living room (floor to ceiling windows) with black out curtains and there was definitely no shortage of hot water while were there. As has been previously mentioned, there is no A/C (I can't remember seeing a ceiling fan either) - so they maybe a little uncomfortable during hoter spells. In contrast the little fire heater I imagine would make this a great little winter retreat.

The only thing we found they don't provide are portacots or high chairs (for those travelling with small children) so we had to provide our own.

The location is superb, a short walk from the GOR without the traffic or noise, a short drive in either direction to Anglesea, Fairhaven or Lorne. The cottages are nestled within a bush setting, there is plenty of bird life and its very quiet at night (except for the possums); you can fool yourself into thinking you're on the beach as the sound of the waves crashings is quiet clear and definitely relaxing.

We were really impressed with our little stay here & had wished we had booked for longer.

A fortuitous internet search located the Split Point Cottages in Aireys Inlet and what a find. 5 minutes walk off the Great Ocean Road ensures a peaceful sleep and as for the cottage itself - it is well appointed with all the self-contained mod cons you need. Nothing fancy but very comfortable. The tennis court and bbq were an added bonus and to be less than 10 minutes walk to the coastline is amazing.

Tips? Buy your groceries in Geelong or Torquay, as groceries are expensive. Having said that, I was also happy to support the locals by buying locally, as that's what keeps these places going. Another tip - go for a jog/walk along Eagle Rock Road - stunning views of the coastline and up to the lighthouse.

I will definitely be back again and have already recommended it to my friends.

We stayed at Split Point Cottage in Queens Birthday long weekend and in a word we loved this place. Cottage C was two bedroom self contained cottage with full kitchen. We used Split Point as our base while driving around different towns in GOR.
David, the owner was very helpful.
I will recommend this place to my friends and will definitely stay there again.

These villas are clean, spacious and well kept, with a decent outdoor bbq area and good privacy. There is no air-conditioning, which may be a problem in the hottest parts of the summer, and being enclosed in a cosy bush setting, there are no ocean views. These are not major problems in the overall scheme of things. The wood-fired heater works really well and this would be a great winter break location.

Nearby are an excellent general store (with great wines on offer, better than anywhere else on the coast)and not far away are the substantial hubs of Lorne and Anglesea. The seafood from the pier at Lorne is worth cooking on the bbq.

Overall, it was an excellent get away at a good price (from Wotif) with everything you need for an enjoyable stay, especially sitting in front of the fire with a glass and wine and the test cricket on TV!
