The award winning Hughenden (circa 1870) is a gracious historic hotel at the heart of Woollahra, in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. Associated with Australia's first philosopher, The Hughenden experienced many changes from grand residence to Masonic Hall to Ladies College. In 1993, The Hughenden commenced a programme of extensive restoration, redeveloping it into a beautiful boutique hotel. The last refurbishment in 2017 refreshed the hotel whilst preserving its old-world grandeur and character. The historic features such as the marble fireplaces, the original grand staircase, and servant bells are still prevalent today. Visitors are welcome to experience the warmth, charm and personal service offered by our hotel. With 32 Heritage Rooms, Pet Friendly Accommodation, Cafe, Lounge Bar and Event spaces, The Hughenden has unique offerings for all to experience and enjoy.

As it did last time we stayed here, it feels like we are coming home. Lovely staff and cosy clean environment. Awesome older, historic boutique hotel. Great location. Great value. Can’t wait to come back again.

We really enjoyed this lovely old mansion accommodation which is situated in Queen Street across from Centennial Park and close to the SCG where we were seeing an AFL match. We loved the easy walk to the ground and when we came back went to the local Woollahra Hotel for dinner. A fabulous hotel with a great menu and only a short walk from the Hughenden accommodation. The room we had was the Manor Suite and it was spacious and comfortable for an overnight stay. Off street parking is handy and costs $33. We liked the leafy street with a nice safe feel and the hotel has good security systems so night access is via a coded gate. You also get a $10 voucher each to have a coffee and breakfast snack in the morning. The coffee was excellent along with friendly and efficient service.…

Thankyou for looking after us. Clean, friendly and in a great location for us. The breakfasts were nice and the staff very helpful in accommodating our large car in the tight parking spaces. Nothing was too much trouble, including extra towels.

Handy location and they allow pets. Breakfast voucher was good. We were in Room 6 which had virtually no natural light and the size of the room was quite small. Bathroom was small and we had to keep the door closed when taking a shower to avoid tripping the smoke alarm. There is a fee for parking and various security codes to get in and out of the place Check in girl and another one making coffee looked like they'd been sucking lemons. A smile would have been easy but we didn't get one.

I stayed at the Hughenden with my dog whilst travelling for work. The hotel is lovely and unique and for the most part I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel is pet friendly, in so far that they allow your pet to stay, but they don't really provide any other pet friendly facilities beyond that. For example, there is no grassy area on the hotel premise and you need to take your dog over to Centennial park to relieve themselves. As a solo female traveller, the idea of doing this at night made me pretty uncomfortable. Secondly, when booking you have to book a 'pet-friendly' room, which costs more than a standard room. I thought that this might mean that they provide a kennel, or dog bowl, or just a little more space for your furry friend, but this is not the case. I think if you are…

We had 2 dogs and used this as our base in Sydney as Alf was getting treatment at SASH Veterinary hospital in North Ryde. The hotel and room were very comfortable and the courtyard was fabulous. I think the location in Woollahra was terrific as there are so many restaurants nearby and very easy access to M1 to easily get to the North of the city. The architecture, beautiful streets and proximity to Centenial Park made it a terrific place to walk with the dogs. The staff were great and helpful. We loved it and would happily return to stay and recommend the Hughenden Boutique Hotel.

I am working down the road so this place is very handy for me to stay a couple of nights a week to avoid a long drive .The staff are great and the room quiet ,clean and comfortable and in a greta area ! One thing that seems petty and a little ridiculous .The "1 free breakfast (worth 10 dollars)" Its for a coffee and muffin or toasted sandwich or granola . probably a value of 6 or 7 dollars at absolute most ! But if you ask for oat milk or an extra shot they charge you 60 cents extra ??? Then I paid cash they didn't have change on hand . The guy serving me seemed embarrassed ,certainly not his fault . Beside this small complaint a nice place to stay .

Hi - we had high hopes for the Hughenden as their reception staff had seemed helpful on the phone and they have good reviews. We had specifically chosen the Hughenden as they said they could accommodate our car and trailer, twin beds and a late check-out for us and cars to 1 pm at a payment of $60 plus $132 for the car and trailer plus the room. Our credit card was charged for all this the day before our arrival. We arrived late on a Sunday due to heavy traffic and rain en-route but Nick had kindly given us all the information we needed about accessing after-hours. When we arrived he had stayed back a few extra minutes and helped us in but told us that the car park area was being used for a film crew early the next morning and we would have to move our car and trailer! Also…

Staff are very friendly, polite and helpful. This is a pet friendly hotel and we were not dissapointed. The location is very good, very near to many pubs and restaurants. There are various churches as well in Oxford Street which to my delight, I was able to attend a Saturday night vigil at St Franciss of Assisi Catholic church. Coffee shop of the Hughenden Hotel is great, coffee is good ! I can imagine that this place could be more lively and tidy if not due to pandemic. The room is a little bit small (since we have a frenchie). The bathroom is tiny and it will be better if there is a window for ventilation. I guess it's about time to remove carpet on the hallway. I think there is hardwood underneath the carpet. I am sure that hardwood is much much better. Overall, we…

This is the second time we have stayed at this little boutique hotel. We love the history, character, high quality furniture and fittings and overall ambience of the place. Plus its location just off Oxford St. The full breakfast was not operating because of COVID, but we were warned in advance. A pity, as I recall that the pastries we had in our first visit were absolutely delicious, so we look forward to having them next time!
