Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Room and view were great. Emer on reception was excellent & Will at restaurant worked hard to rectify dining service problem. Welcome letter stated breakfast served until 10am - arrived 9.45am & told rather rudely kitchen closed & we should go eat outside hotel & eat from the kiosk or local coffee shop so beware. First time we've stayed in a hotel and been instructed to go and have breakfast on the street!

We recently took the inexpensive and picturesque ferry ride from Circular Quay to Watsons Bay, to visit the waterfront Watsons Bay Hotel. This has been a popular trip for us in the past, with great views from the semi open air , really a fancy beer garden. This trip we arrived within minutes of their 11:00am opening. Perfect sunny day, light breeze and the same great view. Unfortunately that’s where the positives ended really. The place just didn’t feel ‘fresh’, just a little shabby. And in need of a decent clean. The first table we sat at was dirty, hadn’t been wiped down and had dirt sitting on it. Second try had grubby seating. Service was also just a little off - the youngish staff members mostly seemed to have something better to do than serve customers promptly: either chatting among themselves or ‘hiding’ behind the bar doing‘something’. Too many other good options on the harbour to bother again.

Beautiful place to visit , easy access from Sydney harbour with a truly picturesque ferry ride to the bay. The hotel is situated right in the beach front with wonderful view of the bay & Sydney harbour. The bar & restaurant have very good sea food & caters for vegetarians ! The bar is best visited during week days when it’s not so crowded.

I ordered a Gluten Free Spicy Italian Pizza and it was the most disguxting pizza ever and they have the hide to charge me $5 extra for GF. The sauce wasd dry and tasetelss, the pastry tasted like leather. Ive had GF Pizzas in Venice which was brilliant and in other places in Sydney where the pastry we very good. I only gave a 1 star because of my wifes fish and chips...

Food was good, and timely but disappointed in the cleanliness. We opted for an indoor table as it was busy and we arrived before our booking time - but were accommodated inside. However nearly every chair looked like this. Almost every single one. Wearing white pants isn't supported if visiting. This wasn't just one chair out of one hundred, they were pretty much all like this. Food tasted good. Service was quick. Bars were open around the venue. And typical issues with add-ons with credit cards, a fee to use and a processing fee on top. This meant $1-2 additional on a $28-$40 cost.

No food after 9pm No room service after 8.30pm No hotel staff after 9pm no one to answer questions No mini bar or vending machine King size bed two doubles without mattress topper No kids food except what’s on pub menu, all carbs no gluten free No deviations from menu Breakfast menu finishes at 11 no sides of avó or fruit available Marriott residency inn (cheap roadside motel) has a better selection for traveling families Terrible destination for families, no thought into target demographics on summer vacation Suggestions: Offer a more extensive menu for hotel guests Offer picnic boxes for traveling family A king room should be a king room not two doubles, at least add a mattress topper Offer a wrist band or some identification to hotel guests to differentiate from pub goers so the level of service can match the advertised “boutique hotel” Breakfast included should be an option

We ate at the restaurant and enjoyed a nice lunch overlooking the bay. All of had the poke bowls with salmon. We also ordered the foccacia. There are umbrellas on the tables so we were not sitting in the sun. Food is served although you do need to go to the bar to get your drinks.

We stayed for 3 nights in a King Room. Overall we were really pleased with the room and stay. Room was spacious and in our room 101 were heard no exterior noise day or night. 2 lovely comfy chairs in the room to just sit, relax , read or chat , Thankyou for that.Bed was great also. Pillows were beaut. Any concerns or queries were attended too quickly by front office staff and we got the feeling that staff cared that we were happy too. Breakfast was really nice each morning in the sun room. Parking was good also in hotel carpark. Overall we were both pleasantly surprised with how much we liked and enjoyed our stay.

Avoid ‘restaurant’ - terrible service. The food was poor and the staff had no idea and were rude. They seem to depend on their location for the clientele and have forgot about food and service. Go to Doyle’sit is much better and service to match.

No attention to the detail required for hospitality. Understaffed. Staff slow. No urgency when queues build. Took ages to get a drink and I was 4th in line. Food was mediocre at best. The lobster rolls are (or would be to a restaurant) an embarrassment. It would be hard to find worse fish and chips. The fish had been deep fried to cardboard. The linguini was mediocre.
