Stayed in Rydges Paramatta for 8 nights, one of the longest ever in a hotel I have ever stayed. It happened to be a great one. Started on a Christmas evening, so the first breakfast was on a Christmas. The tables were beautifully made with Christmas theme, we loved it. Check in and check out were easy with no hassle. We had breakfast included, the menu was good and service was good as well. Room was refreshed daily, we had option to go green by no opting to Room service one day, to compensate it, they used to give us a $10 service offer which you could use on food and other services. It was a good option for us, as some days we didn't really need a room service. Room was spacious and good. There was free parking within the compound and with additional charge closed parking was also available. Overall, a goo d stay here.

This was our 3rd back. After last visit we said we wouldn't return however we urgently required overnight accommodation and the free parking is too good to go past.
Rydges Parramatta have a new check in system, all digital with no human interaction. This was great for us as we arrived late (10pm)
You use a kiosk to generate your room key.
There are receptionists for those unable to use the kiosk.
The sofa bed was made up for the kids and Rydges provided extra towels/ amenities
They even provided cute Easter packs (colouring/plush toy)
Sound proofing is non existent in these rooms
Shower pressure very light
Room was spacious enough for 4 people
The rydges dream bed has changed, it was uncomfortable
And the air con wasn't cooperating
Staff were very lovely at the breakfast buffet, expensive for a family of 4 $90 with PGR and missing breakfast items
Morning of departure the hotel left Easter eggs on our door front (I thought this was so lovely)
Check out was via kiosk, very simple and quick
This stay was much better than last!

This is the 3rd time I have stayed here, but I have decided I will try somewhere else.
It is not the worse place I have stayed, but for the price, it fails a little short

The GOOD
-Beds are amazing. So soft, it felt like sleeping on a cloud. Some hate this I have read, but we just adored it.
-15 minutes to Olympic Park as we attended an event there.
-dining room has nice meals.

The BAD
- Very minor complaint and may even sound silly, but 3 females and 1 roll of toilet paper and no spare rolls anywhere. Yes, reception was called, but seriously, how simple is it to leave a roll of two spare.
-3 people we paid for but got only 2 towels, 1 facecloth and 1 hand towel. Yes, called reception when I noticed a towel missing, but by the time we got home from dance competitions, it was then we noticed lack of face clothes and handtowels. Minor issue to some but should never be an issue. This is basic housekeeping 101.
- not very clean. Old tissue under bed.
-generally looking run down and could do with an upgrade.
-unless going to racecourse opposite there is nothing around the hotel
-parking expensive. Told they charge to stop neighboring units parking there, so surely a code, a ticket could be given to the people paying to stay. Being a member should also be good enough to include free parking. Good idea???
-major complaint, is gym does not open till 6 am. We were up at 5 am and wanted to use it, as advertised . It advertises a gym, but its closed. Most gym people go to gyms early

Dear Robin, We appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback as this helps us improve the service we provide. Pleased to hear you found our beds to your liking & the location ideal. We sincerely apologise for the housekeeping. The additional towels & the spare toilet rolls should've been in the room upon preparation for your arrival. This feedback has been passed on to our housekeeping department. Our car park is owned & managed by a seperate company therefore unfortunately we cannot provide complimentary parking nor include it in our rates. The rates however align with other properties within the area. Your mention of the gym times have been passed on to management for consideration. Thank you once again. Kind regards, Rydges Parramatta Team

I strongly advise against staying at this property. The rooms are in extremely poor condition, and the issues are numerous. All windows leak when it rains, leaving the carpets damp and creating an unpleasant odor. Despite notifying staff, no efforts were made to air out the rooms or address the problem. Mold is present in the bathroom sinks and showers, with no effective solutions provided when this was reported.

The in-room fridges are either non-functional or stop working shortly after use. Despite informing the staff, the only response was that maintenance had been notified, but no action was taken. The cleanliness is appalling—carpets are dirty and dusty, walls are unclean, and curtains appear to be unwashed.

The TVs in the rooms are outdated, unable to pick up free-to-air channels, and lack compatibility with streaming services like Netflix. The air-conditioning system is unreliable, functioning only part-time and shutting off entirely when you leave the room.

While most staff are courteous and appear to do their best with the limited resources available to them, the property itself falls far short of acceptable standards. It is outrageous that such a poorly maintained hotel is marketed as a 4.5-star property, and the rates charged are completely unjustifiable. This establishment does not deserve any positive rating, and management should be deeply ashamed of the current state of their facility.

Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay. It was concerning to hear that your stay was not up to our usual high standard. This is not the lasting impression that we strive to achieve for our guests. While I wish you had a better experience, it is feedback like this that we learn from and can use to improve. We work hard to deliver an exceptional guest experience, and it's apparent in this case that we fell short. Thanks for bringing this to our attention and our sincere apologies for your experience. Kind regards, The Rydges Parramatta team

Very nice hotel, clean and tidy room in a good location, near Parramatta and opposite Rosehill racecourse.

Very quite room, with comfortable large bed, plus block out curtains for a good nights sleep.

Go green option to limit towel washing and room service, with a $10 a day credit (for restaurant or bar).

We have stayed with Rydges Parramatta a few times before as a base for Olympic Park.
We were very surprised to find a random upgrade to the penthouse suite this time around!
It was a shame check in and out are completely digital now and we couldn't thank anyone for the upgrade.
Rydges Penthouse suite has beautiful views of Parramatta and the City
While quite run down and a few major cracks in the walls, the rooms were spacious and comfortable
We love Rydges dream beds and this one was brilliant.
We didn't have much interaction with staff but when we spoke with the breakfast staff they were welcoming.
The breakfast buffet is worth the $35 a head
Also if traveling to Olympic Park for concerts, Rydges Parramatta usually hosts a shuttle at $30 a head (highly recommended!!!!)
The major downfall is they now charge for parking :( $20 per night

We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your upgrade and room along with our Rydges "Dream Beds" and breakfast offering. We have noted your feedback into our self check in system and parking charges, unfortunately due to rising costs in other areas we have had to introduce this cost, but believe it is consistent with other properties in the area. We stayed here after a visit to the Royal Easter Show as it was 50% cheaper than the hotels within walking distance. Drive from P1 was just 7 mins so for us, it was perfect.

My favourite thing about the hotel was its new self check in and check out. The kiosk was easy to use and so fast compared to normal check in procedures.

The room itself was as advertised, clean and quiet. Breakfast was overpriced for the value but I’d stay again and skip the buffet.

The lobby and room were lovely, up to date decor & comfort, enjoyed the spacious, well appointed room, free car parking was great, able to walk to CBD & restaurants. Room windows did not seem to be double glazed, so noticed road noise from louder vehicles. Was asked to download hotel app to check-in & carry out requests within hotel & it is apparently the only complete source of info for guests. Downloading a perhaps not watertight phone app is something I will never do after having my phone hacked. Therefore was not able to make the most of my stay without an in room guide or a web page with such info (The Star has a TV channel & a secure web page offering such info). For some reason I was offered free breakfast on checkout, I was in a hurry so declined & sorting out the bill via the only staff computer at front desk took some time. Did aporeciate the late checkout & staff were very professional.

The first thing to note about Rydges Parramatta is that it’s not in Parramatta, it’s in Rosehill right opposite the racecourse, which is fine if you’re going to the races, but very inconvenient if you have business or dinner in Parramatta. It’s a 33 minute walk through some dark streets or a ten minute drive and more parking costs on top of the hotel parking you’ve already paid for.

The motel itself is noisy. There’s a busy road outside, the aircon is so loud that I had to turn it off and people will tell you that I can sleep on a barbed wire fence. The rooms are not very sound proof either. I could hear the tv in the next room quite clearly.

The worst thing though was the little annoyances after a long day, there was no bottle opener to open a very expensive beer from the mini bar, there was no soap to wash your hands in the bathroom, there was no plug to fill the basin for a shave. All things that you want at the end of a long day and you arrive and need to shower and change and get out to dinner.

Like I said. Very ordinary.

An enjoyable experience I usually stay here because it is convenient for me, also the rooms are reasonably nice always seem to be clean, unfortunately the last few times I usually get no coffee satchels left in the room, which is not a huge issue and usually ask room service nd they bring some up straight away. Love the spa, pool sauna, unfortunately the steam room wasn’t working. I’m surprised they make the Sauna and Steam Rooms gender specific.

How close to Parramatta Park
Answer from Noojee
Melbourne, Australia137 contributions88 helpful votes
Its a decent walk or jog, especially if you take the path along the river. Walking should take about 30- 40 minutes, or about 20 for a steady jog. Public transport is limited, but there is a bus nearby that takes you into Parramatta, but then you still have to walk a fair distance. The best option is car, whether it be your own, a taxi or Uber.
