Metro Hotels was located conveniently by the bus stop at New Port. There were many food options around it and only takes about 15 minutes to get to the New Port beach. Getting to the other beaches like Palm Beach, Dee Why can be accessed by bus 199 but takes about half hour each way. The staff were very friendly and check in and check out was fast and easy. Only a photo ID was required for check in. The room was comfortable but could do with an update on the paint and design. The TV was also quite small (18-20 inches) and the WiFi was so slow I had to use my own data. Also was disappointed that the king bed turned out to be two twin beds pushed together. The location was great and at a reasonable cost, so it is great for staying at a convenient location near the Northern beaches.

After booking one night, we read reviews and arrived with great hesitation.
To our surprise, we were very warmly greeted and ( telling, it was my Birthday) given a very acceptable water view room..102.spectacular view.
The room was spacious, clean, although with old fashion furniture.
The king size bed was very comfortable.
We immediately realized the TV did not work....the confident young lady on reception, arrived to make it work, no problem.
Yes, the entire property is old and rundown.
The surrounding gardens, paths and driveways, all needed attention to cleaning and presentation.
Internal renovation, repairs to holes in walls, re painting, new carpet, all needs to be done.
Upon our next morning departure, again an attentive young lady , courteously farewelled us.
My wife and I have been in the accomodation business, so, be pleasent to staff and they will be pleasent to you.
With an incredible location, I hope this hotel can be revitalised with a massive renovation...Good Luck.

After reading the reviews I was sceptical about the cleanliness of the place, I even bought my own sheets and cleaning products but I was pleasantly surprised by my stay. I stayed one night for a wedding in the Newport Room. I can’t say the room wasn’t in need of a good spring clean, with marks on the curtains and some dust in the cupboards but all the important things were spotless. The sheets were clean and the bed quite comfortable. The bathroom was outdated but perfectly clean. Overall I was happy with my stay, it got the job done!

This place was so run down. Mould in bathroom with no fans. Window in bathroom was painted with black paint. The air conditioner was so noisey it kept on cutting on and off. The blanket between the doona cover was old and smelt. The room smelled musty. The car park was so narrow very difficult to park even for a very experienced driver. I would not recommend staying there A lot of money needs to be spent on it to make it pleasant. I think it was overpriced for what you got. The position was great

Upon arrival the hotel looked tidy and friendly and considering it wasn’t cheap I was expecting to have a nice comfortable stay but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. The lobby was warm and cosy and this really tricks guests into thinking the whole hotel would be in similar condition. I checked in and was given just one room card for 2 people and it took 3 attempts and trips back to the check in desk to get it to work and after complaining even more we was finally given a second card that subsequently never worked. The lift was filthy and freezing cold and the fire door was wedged open on the 2nd floor which is both dangerous and illegal and my partner who happens to be a fire inspector asked the hotel to close it and was told it was not her responsibility. Our room had a lovely view over the water but unfortunately that was the only lovely thing about it. The decor was incredibly dated and the room was freezing cold, smelled of damp and absolutely filthy. The hotel was full so even after several complaints we couldn’t be moved but unfortunately the hotel had zero interest in fixing any of the problems. The sofa was filthy, the curtains had moth holes, the bathroom was damaged and filthy with a leaking bath and a very strong damp smell. The room was freezing cold and dark. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone and I’ll never return to it again. Absolutely disgusting service and the quality of the rooms is beyond a joke

The location was good for what I needed but the overall state of the hotel for the cost of the room was terrible. It is in desperate need of renovating. The room had stains on the couch, the spa bath had duct tape holding part of it together, light bulbs needed replacing. No room service. It said snacks were available at reception, when I asked at reception, I was told none were available, luckily there was a cafe across the road.

Very tired hotel in need of renovation or demolition.
The location is in good proximity to wharf, Newport hotel and strip of small shops. Bus service nearby runs frequently. Wouldn't stay here again. What I was paid for the room was overpriced considering the lack of amenties available and how noisy it was.

Please see my previous comments. I found the place to be extremely run down, expensive with a number of things not working within the establishment. The carpark is extremely difficult to maneouvre in with one of our cars not been able to park due to height restrictions and just overall difficulty. 2 of the 3 rooms did not have working airconditioners and the staff were not particularly friendly nor welcoming. I'm not usually a complainer but this time I was extremely disappointed overall considering we were paying top dollar for the accommodation on the Saturday night

Room was comfortable enough and it has an excellent location but I struggled to get any sleep at all because of the noise of a party being held at the hotel. I understand that it's been a difficult time for hospitality but we were in town for a race and really needed a good night of sleep. It would have been nice to have been offered a quieter room or given advanced warning so that we could have brought earplugs. Attention could also be given to the bathrooms as there was a definite mould issue in ours (Room 305).

We stayed overnight here for a family wedding, along with many other guests, both friends and families of the bride and groom. Outside our bathroom, also the entrance to our room, the carpet was sodden and dank smelling. Too hot to open the balcony door we ramped up the aircon only for it to drip continuously onto this already wet carpet. We put the bathroom bin under to catch. When we came home to bed, we put the aircon on but not at all cool, and a particularly hot balmy January night!! Many other guests had bad experiences on the night as well with air conditioning problems and foul smells in rooms. We stayed here 6 years ago and the place has fallen into further disrepair. This hotel has a monopoly in the area for one night stays and I guess they feel they don’t care about their guests’ experiences and pay no heed to repairs and maintenance on report. Reception staff quite stressed and not very polite.

No, I don't think so as we ate across the road at the hotel. They do have a buffet breakfast which is very good and a beautiful view over the Pittwater.
