Convenient location, clean and well appointed rooms. We had three rooms over three days for the State Surf Championships and found the beds comfortable, rooms quiet and showers hot with good pressure.
Not overpriced but felt a $20 per night parking fee was s bit over the top.
We will definitely stay again next year.
Breakfast available from 6-30am and Manly Leagues a 50 mt walk.
We would have given 5 stars, but no pool … but still very good .

I've stayed here twice: Once in January with two kids, and once alone in June. Aside from the suburb of Manly, or hotels that are attached to pubs, this is the only hotel in the Northern Beaches that isn't an AirBnB, so it feels like our only option.

The positives:

Service was great. The breakfast is good. Room service is quick and reasonably priced (though the beef lasagne had hardly any beef, and the pizzas had far too much cheese). The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. The air conditioning worked well after I figured out how to turn it on: The wall panel will allow you to adjust the temperature even when the air conditioner is switched off, without showing an obvious sign that it's off, so I assumed it was broken!

The kitchenette includes a mini fridge, a kettle with tea and coffee, a microwave and some dinnerware, although strangely we saw a sign that said we were not allowed to bring food in from outside. We brought food in from outside anyway, and the staff didn't say anything. The staff also let us take the bathroom towels to the beach (we checked that this was allowed!), which is generous because some hotels won't allow this.

The location is good, not very picturesque for walks nearby, but convenient to buses. The room is good value once you've stayed a couple of times, because Accor membership provides good discounts. Parking is $10 per day for Accor members, and it's not hard to find a place to park close to the entrance (except on days when the Sea Eagles are playing nearby, when the car park and hotel are much more crowded).

The negatives:

The bathrooms are dated and the grout is full of mold! The shower taps turn on in opposite directions, so my kids had trouble setting the temperature. The booking system on the Mercure website is odd: I booked bed and breakfast, but it never showed up as such in my email confirmation or when I opened my booking, so I had to hope that they'd recorded it correctly. On my first trip, I had booked and paid for breakfast for a triple room with three occupants, but they told me that the rate only included breakfast for one person! This would have been very misleading if true. Fortunately they figured out that all breakfasts were included.

The Chromecast to the TV worked well with my phone, but half an hour after switching the TV off, it switched itself back on again at full volume, waking me up in the process! I unpluged the TV the next night as I couldn't figure out why it did this - perhaps there's a way to disconnect from the Chromecast.

Dear Snuggliest, Thank you so much for taking the time to review the hotel indepth and provide your experience at the property. The feedback is invaluable to me as it allows us to sit with the team, go through your comments and make changes for when you hopefully return, you can see the difference in experience. We are currently working on a project through our bathroom tiles to bring them back to life and increase the cleanliness of the property and we are really excited for how this will turn out. I'm sorry to hear of the confusion with your breakfast and also the TV turning on during your stay, this is something we will check with the respective departments to ensure is rectified. Please do reach out to me next time you plan on staying so I can ensure you're well looked after as a valued Accor member and your experiences continue to improve. Kind regards, Scott

A couple of months ago we stayed at the Mercure in Blacktown and very impressed, so on visiting relations on the Northern Beaches we settled this time on the actually identical Mercure Manly Warringah at Brookvale.

Clean, quiet, all the basic facilities and good friendly service. Excellent large TV, microwave, good ensuite, comfortable bed. Brilliant climate control.

Nobody goes to Brookvale (commercial and light industry area) for a resort experience and the hotel is just off the roads that will take you all over the North Shore / beaches for visiting, business whatever. Sweet spot.

It's just over the side street from Manly Leagues with good value food and the usual club facilities, just a short trip to the major Warringah Mall and on the major public transport route.

What really impressed me was the fact that we only paid (a mid week special was happening) around $15 more than you would pay for those daggy old Mum and Dad 1970s besser-block motels frozen in time, with a tiny TV, a microwave if you are lucky, virtually no security, noisy old aircon and a mouldy shower such as you find in most of the regional areas up and down the coast.

More than happy to recommend Mercure if you just want modern, high quality accommodation that's handy to what you want to do in Sydney north of the Harbour. After all we go to Sydney to do personal stuff, if you want to do Resort then stay on the seafront or do a cruise!!

This is super venue, staff are professional and friendly, the rooms come with a smart TV, air conditioning and a small kitchenette that is useful for snacks. Also, the location is ideal if you don’t have a car as you can easily catch the bus down to Manley or up the coast. Will book to stay longer next time!

We cannot rate the genuine care and professionalism of the staff at Mercure Sydney Manly Warringah more highly. Always responsive, attentive and willing to go the extra mile to ensure that guests feel welcome and valued, General Manager Scott Bear and Front Office Manager, Alex Farrell have set an exceptionally high standard for hospitality. Rooms are comfortable for both business and leisure guests, and the conveniently located cafe offers tasty treats. This hotel is a local gem for travellers visiting the northern beaches

We have previously stayed here when it was still the Travelodge. There have been a few upgrades since, which were needed. Bed was very comfortable, as were the pillows. Some negatives however: no bedside lights, no hand towel in the bathroom and no luggage rack. When we asked about these we were met with blank stares. We purchased a portable LED light from our local Bunnings to use as a reading light. We paid for parking ($20 per night), but found 2 out of our 5 nights the car park was full and we were unable to park in the hotel car park. It appears that when there's a rugby game on, guests at the hotel let their friends park in the hotel car park. In addition, the disability parking spots were frequently occupied by those without the applicable parking permit. Hotel staff was not at all interested, but did give us a refund for the 2 nights when parking was not available.

Dear ferreldcat. Thank you for taking the time to review your stay and it is great to hear you enjoyed your time and have seen the improvements since the takeover from Travelodge. Thank you as well for the feedback in regards to the points made for improvement. We are implementing a new parking procedure to ensure the car park does not over book and re painting the disability parking sign to be more clear for guests. Whilst it is hard to monitor guests parking in these spots, we will do our best to prevent this from happening and do checks. We will also be looking into adding these items into rooms (lamps and luggage racks) to ensure the highest level of comfort for guests. Kind regards, Scott

I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels across Australia in the past couple of years, and most of them are indistinguishable. This one is yet another of the same.
The good: Sam at the front desk was an absolute delight, couldn’t have been more helpful when we checked in. The TV actually has the ability to cast to, so we weren’t limited to watching the poor selection usually available on Australian free-to-air. And despite the location near a fairly busy road, it was quiet.
The bad: the beds are too firm for my liking. I acknowledge that it’s personal taste and I do like a softer bed, but I can’t be the only one. Pillows - one is too low, two are too high. Bedding: they do that quilt sandwich thing that every hotel seems to do these days, flat sheet instead of a fitted sheet, then a quilt with a flat sheet above and one below instead of a quilt cover. I HATE this with a passion. It can’t be hygienic, I bet they don’t wash the quilt between each guest and it’s really hard to not wind up with the sheets tangled all over the place and the quilt touching your bare skin.
A major down was that we had to move the bed to get access to the power points. My travelling companion uses a CPAP machine and needs to have power by the bed, and I use my phone as a white noise machine so I need to have power too. In this day and age an easily accessible power outlet on each side of the bed is a basic necessity in a good hotel.
Bathroom: very ordinary, the floor needed a deep cleaning, particularly the little nub sticking out of the floor to stop the door slamming, that was very grungy. The toilet needed to be flushed 2-3 times to clear it, the water pressure in the shower wasn’t great. They did have refillable toiletries which I appreciate.
The buffet breakfast was the same as every other hotel buffet breakfast. Overcooked scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, tomatoes, toast, yoghurt, juice, tea, coffee. Nothing special and certainly not worth what they charge.

Dear J6434BMsarahj, Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel in such detail, all of the information in this review goes a long way to allowing us to review our processes and improve for future stays. I'm sorry to hear you did not enjoy the bed or pillows and as much as you have acknowledged it is a personal preference with others enjoying this style of bedding, it is disappointing to hear you did not. Please always feel free to provide this sort of feedback whilst in house and the team might be able to assist with more mattress protectors/padding. I appreciate the feedback regarding the electrical outlets and we do attempt to have the beds away from these however are often restricted with certain requested rooms set ups. We do our best to ensure there is always an option but understand it is not convenient if not next to the bed. I have personally looked at the room you stayed in and have requested for maintenance to go through and deep clean the bathroom. These are older style bathrooms so from a visual may seem dirty however can assure you the team do a great job of cleaning the grime out and reducing any dirt within the room. It is great to hear your feedback on Sam and how he was helpful with your experience, also the chromcasting being a positive is great to hear and reaffirms the value of the investment in this technology. We truly hope you can return to us and if no, please do reach out so I can take care of you. Kind regards, Scott

Dear Glen, Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel and having a chat with me prior to posting the review online. As we have already discussed, i appreciate your perspective and experience of the property and I apologise you were not satisfied with your time at the hotel. The hotel honours all Accor membership benefits with drink vouchers being able to be used within the property. These drink vouchers can be redeemed using the ALL app just like with all Accor properties. We pride ourselves on the delivery of our service and the team I know are all very guest focused so it is disappointing to hear of your dissatisfaction here. I do know the team reacted immediately to your shared concerns and compensated you for that which I hope you can appreciate. Kind regards, Scott
