We have stayed at this hotel many times. The staff are very friendly and the food is very good. This is a quaint hotel with period features. For mid Wales very central location plenty of sightseeing and walks particularly around "Lake Vyrnwy" Autumn colours around the area are wonderful. We will certainly be returning.... Jen Bridgend

Friendly and homely onky stayed for one night but enjoyed the quaint olde world charm of sloping floors and old beams. Obvious that duvets have not yet reached here yet but room was warm and comfortable. Bed was very nice but two blankets a bit heavy. Foodwas good home cooking

We, two rooms booked, stayed for three nights at this historic hotel. Having read the other reviews I can understand some points, however it is an old hotel with character not a premier inn, frankly I am yet to rate a chain hotel higher than a 3.... so why the five? Customer service, several teams of people stayed at the... More

Struggle to understand the reviews which rate this as excellent. Its OK, no more. Yes, it is an interesting old building but very tired and in desperate need of a little tlc. Room was clean but the room rate a bit steep for what you get. The food again is ok but nothing special; average pub grub at best. A... More

The Cain Valley Hotel is in a wonderful location in a beautiful part of Wales. The hotel itself is very old and full of character including beams and sloping floors. Easy to think that you have had too much to drink while walking across them! Our first floor room at the front of the hotel was quiet (it was a... More

This is a very welcoming and comfortable Hotel with excellent food. It is well situated for visiting Lake Vyrnwy and Llanrhaedr Waterfall. Cycling and walking in such fantastic scenery is brilliant. We will be back! Likes - Location, food and the Staircase! Dislikes - None.

This really is a great hotel, and I never give an excellent rating. If there isn't anyone on the reception on arrival the bar is literally through a door. I read a review of someone waiting there for ten minutes - I can't understand why. They let us store our motorcycles under their fixed canopy; this proved to be invaluable... More

We did a motorcycle tour around Snowden national park and Stayed here for 1 night and it was spot on. Good food, friendly staff. Room was a good size and clean. Would definitely stay again and would recommend the sirloin steak as it's delicious.

Firstly I think we must have been staying at a different hotel to a lot of your other reviewers as I can honestly say we did not find the place friendly or charming. When we arrived we were shown to our room which was No.2. I had requested a room on a lower floor which is what we got. On... More

Just come back from a few days and stayed at the Cain Valley Hotel. What a lovely place to stop so full of history especially the Jacobean staircase. Yes you need to take care on the stairs but my parents are in the 80s and they managed them. I was in room 10 which I think is the room over... More
