Lovely welcome for my husband and I and our Cavapoo. Dogs very welcome in the lovely bar area. He was fed first with dog biscuits and got lots of fuss from the staff. The menu was very varied with bistro style starters and mains plus salads, pizzas and hot and cold sandwiches. I had the chicken with chilli and lime...

Have just returned from a 2 night stay at The Royal Ship. Our room was beautiful with a really good sized en suite bathroom, everywhere was extremely clean and the decor was lovely. The staff were really friendly and went out of their way to help us. Breakfast was lovely on both mornings and evening meal was ok - I...

Decided stay over for one night and managed to get one of the last available rooms. Staff at check in were very helpful as were the staff in the restaurant where I ate and at the bar. Food was very good and reasonably priced. The room was spotlessly clean and the hotel looks as if it has had a recent...

The room was large and very clean, plenty of tea and coffee facilities with FRESH milk, in a flask, not in cartons. staff very helpful and friendly, the meals (breakfast and dinner) were good with a varied menu. The only downside we found with this hotel is that the car park was very small, but there is plenty of parking...

The hotel was recommended to us as it had been recently refurbished. We took 3 rooms and they were all very nice and well furnished. Bed and breakfast prices are reasonable although I have had better breakfasts. The bacon is described as crispy on the menu but in practice it was anything but crispy! That said, we had two diners...

Beautiful place to stay, really wasn't expecting it, just seen the old pictures and what a transformation wow. The staff were very polite and helpful and the food and drink are spot on. Would definitely stay again. Oh and it's really clean, nothing like what I've just seen on the old pictures, nasty. Thanks for a wonderful weekend royal ship.

Fantastic stay thanks to very friendly and helpful staff, who stored our bikes securely, fed us delicious food including an amazing breakfast, and mouth watering and inexpensive dinner. Watered us in the hotels fine bar and put us up in a very spacious and beautifully decorated room, cannot recommend this place enough, fantastic value too

Not very happy at all with this Hotel. On checking in at 4.30 p.m we were asked by a not very happy girl from behind the bar if we wanted to book an evening meal, if we did we would have to dine at 5.30 p.m. or around 9pm and that all the other restaurants in the village were booked...

We had lunch at the Royal Ship last September and thought it was rather a gloomy and run-down place with only average food. Our visit this week was a revelation! The refurbishment is amazing and the bar/dining area is now very stylish. The food was also very good - I can certainly recommend the fish platter which was excellent. The...
