Just returned from a stay at the West Arms. There's not a lot you can fault at this hotel, the rooms maybe on the small size, this is not a criticism this is a very old building, the rooms are very comfortable and very well presented. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. The...

We booked via TravelZoo. £99. We got a 2 course dinner and prosecco and breakfast. The value was unbelievable. The room was lovely and the staff were faultless. Service wonderful. I can't praise it enough, honestly. I had the trout which was a sensation. Mikey had the beef cheek and he says it was delicious. Portions were great. Wouldn't go...

Stayed here for 3 nights. Charming 16th century building with all its quirks, slopping floors, low headroom it is a find! The staff, food and service is worthy of a 5 star Hilton. Only niggle is the room we had was on 3 levels and with no overhead shower, but charming none the less. Book it you will have a...

Stayed Monday night with our Westie and so loved this place. Some say they are 'dog friendly' but this place really is. The staff are lovely and the hotel so inviting. We sat near the fire for our evening meal which could not be faulted. The guy who served breakfast worked so hard and nothing was too much trouble for...

This hotel and restaurant had been recommended personally to us by close friends and clients who have stayed this year. What can I say... Amazing! Solitude, scenery and great food. But most importantly sensational staff. This is my first trip advisor review, and while I am fairly well travelled I do not find the need to write about service as...

My partner and I stayed at The West Arms last week, on the way back from visiting family. We rang on the off chance that there may be a room available, and were pleasantly surprised that there was 'room at the inn'. We spoke to the manager Steve on the telephone, and he was very helpful, and eager to have...

Thank you for your review Paul and also thanks to the previous reviewer Ellen, for very quickly restoring our reputation as a warm, welcoming and friendly establishment - something we pride ourselves on - as do all our committed and hard working staff. Unfortunately we cannot please 100% guests for 100% of the time but we do try our best....

We were there at the weekend too and so agree that the welcome was very cool ! The front of house manager was quite rude to two sets of customers who couldn't get wifi and whose room was cold.He actually made rude comments about them to other guests ! Such a shame. We visited ten years ago and it was lovely...

Thank you for your review. We apologize for any lack of warmth felt in the welcome you received, or any rudeness experienced during your stay - and this applies also to any of the previous reviews, referring to this incident by other guests. The two course offer described by Secret Escapes should have been more explicit and this has been...

Tucked away in the heart of this tiny Welsh village is The West Arms hotel which oozes character and charm. As soon as you step through the doorway you are warmly greeted by the very friendly staff who make sure you have your every need. A huge log fire was roaring in the lounge where after finding our room, we...

We stayed here on a Saturday night having stopped off to visit the aqueduct and then a long walk around Llangollen - the heritage trail, which is about 25 mins away by car. Well worth doing. We arrived at the hotel late afternoon. It is off the beaten track in a small village surrounded by hills and very picturesque. We...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The West Arms is a traditional Olde Inn (16th Century) with beams and uneven slate flagged floors, roaring open fires and low ceilings. It offers an abundance of warmth and charm with quirky individuality. No bedrooms are the same. We are a privately owned business with a wealth of experience, offer a friendly informal welcome. We have 15 bedrooms, a superb Chef who has a great pedigree, lovely friendly staff and are situated in a beautiful location. If you want a bland boutique modern hotel with a lack of soul, The West Arms is not the place for you! ... more   less
