From first arriving we had a lovely welcome from Mel. Our room was very beautiful and clean with a really large comfy bed. My husband had hurt his back and they even provided a hot water bottle. The whole place is very historical with roaring log fires where we enjoyed lunch with homemade chutney and a couple of g and...

We took a Travelzoo offer to stay in the West Arms, £89 for dinner b&b for two. At that price it's difficult to criticise, the staff were friendly, good real ales in the bar, a room upgrade (Eagles, delightful) and the place just drips with character, oak beams and log fires in most public areas. So, my only negative comments...

We came here after a bad experience in another 4 star hotel the night before staying here, and it was as different as night and day from the other place we stayed at. From the warm and friendly welcome to the beautiful rooms it was amazing. But the cherry on the top for us was the fantastic food. The chef...

Recently stayed here as a group of four. The bar really friendly, staff excellent along with great food, however my room was tired, clean, comfortable but in need of upgrading. The TV only worked one Chanel and shower head really weak. Breakfast again was very good and I would stay again.

Booked a few weeks prior, we had an amazing stay for my birthday weekend. The cuisine is utterly superb, the rooms just gorgeous - superbly historic and interesting. It is difficult to carry on without simply raving about everything - the weather the autumnal colours etc etc but simply put we had a perfect weekend. The staff, well, what can...

Look at a map,and there's not really any large settlements around Llanarmon. We approached it from Bala on a Windy narrow road. Iconic Welsh village, unspoilt. One night stay in October. Friendly and professional welcome from the barman, who showed me to my room. Advised me I didn't have an ensuite, for one night didn't mind. It was only later...

We needed somewhere for a one night stay and chanced on The West Arms. Really welcoming and helpful staff. Dog friendly in all parts except for the restaurant. Owners and dog(s) can eat in the bar area and the staff set up a table for breakfast adjacent to the main restaurant. Lovely spacious ground floor room. En suite has a...

The room was very small and opposite the kitchen extractor fan which despite assurances was left on all night. After a 16 mile uphill hike to the hotel I was in need of a rest but was unable to get any. Having seen this room I requested another one and was offered two alternatives at £90+ and £125! No towels...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The West Arms is a traditional Olde Inn (16th Century) with beams and uneven slate flagged floors, roaring open fires and low ceilings. It offers an abundance of warmth and charm with quirky individuality. No bedrooms are the same. We are a privately owned business with a wealth of experience, offer a friendly informal welcome. We have 15 bedrooms, a superb Chef who has a great pedigree, lovely friendly staff and are situated in a beautiful location. If you want a bland boutique modern hotel with a lack of soul, The West Arms is not the place for you! ... more   less
