Beware it closes at 2-6pm some days, so check opening times. The bar meals are excellent, the area is stunning, and the choice of beer outstanding. On the day we visited there were three Welsh real ales, 2 Welsh real ciders and Welsh perry, all on draft. Landlord is particularly good - a delight of a pub - just a...

After a nice long walk in the sun shine we stopped here for a quick drink. Really friendly staff and very accommodating to myself as I wanted to try a Pear cider but wasn't sure if I would like it so the bartender poured me a tiny glass to sample which I loved and I had a whole glass. Small...

After a long walk at the RSPB reserve at Gwenffrwd Dinas, it was great to see a pub open for a well needed drink in the late afternoon sunshine. Very friendly staff and a good range of ales to boot, very enjoyable rest.

Didn't stay here, but stopped off for lunch whilst out walking. The food was great, the atmosphere was really wonderful and the landlord welcoming. Although it's off the beaten track it is definitely worth going to. Three of us had burgers which were lovely home made ones. One of us had a Lasagne and the other had a roast salmon...

We stopped off at the Royal Oak on our way for a walk further up the valley: the RSPB walk at Gwenffrwd-Dinas about 3 miles up the valley. We both ordered the home cooked Cheshire Ham, egg and chips which was outstanding. The ham was was probably the best cold ham I've ever had while the egg, which was also...

We come to Rhandirmwyn once a year for a week with friends and their young children to stay in a cottage over the road from The Royal Oak. Part of the reason we stay in this village is because of the The Royal Oak Inn - the excellent owners, great home cooked food, beautiful views outside and the general friendly...

A friendly pub in a beautiful setting. Excellent food and beer and large but cosy rooms. We stayed for 2 nights to enjoy the surrounding countryside and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We were made to feel very welcome. Would recommend for a quiet country retreat with great food and a friendly atmosphere. Thank you!

My wife and I stayed here for two nights and found the pub to be the perfect place for a short break. The landlord was very friendly and most helpful, the room was spotless and spacious and the food was excellent. We will certainly stay here again when we next visit Wales.

All is based on personal experience that time: Plus: Lovely location Great food but shocking waiting time unless you are staff's friend, live locally etc Dog friendly (she loved it) Free toiletries; Minus: Box room - far too small for 2 people + dog Bed very tiny Bathroom with carpet! Stained white-off towels Wardrobe storage used for bedding, pillows etc...

The falsehoods in this review are the result of us not yielding to your bullying tactics. You demanded a refund for being charged for two nights because at 4pm in the afternoon of your second day, you decided to leave. We have a clear 24 hour cancellation policy which is a standard in the industry. If a guest has genuine...
