Stayed for just one night as first stop on a road trip and can recommend. The pub is lovely with it's own car park at the back. The room had bags of character and was freshly decorated. The evening mean was fantastic and the breakfast was even better. Good accommodation with excellent comfy bed and powerful, hot shower, really great...

My boyfriend and I stayed here while visiting family in the area for 3 nights, all the staff are very welcoming and friendly and the rooms are very spacious but there were a couple of problems. The first was made quite quick when we went to bed and the two single beds pushed together were lovely but not the small...

We stayed here for my partner's 50th birthday, along with our Bichon Frise. The place is really olde worlde. Our room was huge and sparkling clean. The floorboards were really squeaky, but that is expected in such an old place - although they did interrupt my partner's sleep as he got woken up several times by people in the next...

Whilst staying in Llandovery we thought the 2nd best place out of 12 on tripadvisor was a good idea to try. This is a nice old building central to the town. It has a very large bar/eating area with beautiful low old beams. Llandovery seems to have a "thing" for quite bright/gaudy colours inside and out and this was no...

We had room 10, which had the ladies and gents toilets on the other side of the wall. Walls very thin so you heard every use of toilet, every conversation, constant loud hand driers and the odd person vomiting. Awful. Even though it closed at 11, people still using it until the early hours. The room was clean, but people...

I recently stayed here with my wife for a two-night break. Reviews looked positive so we arrived with high hopes. Unfortunately we were disappointed with our trip and felt that the hotel is in need of some TLC. It does have a certain quaint charm but we felt that this is now tipping over into being a bit shabby. A...

This charming pub has a blackboard outside offering lunch at £5/£5.95. I went for lunch with a good friend. I am gluten intolerant and was extremely disappointed that the special lunch offer did not include any gluten free options. In the end I ended up paying approx £14 for something that was gluten free. Come on guys ...there are many...

An overnight stay, but we will be back. The Kings Head is a welcoming, friendly place to stay. The food is excellent, the staff attentive without being over friendly or intrusive. The building is steeped in history with original features and the rooms large and very comfortable to ensure a good night's rest.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Once the home of the Bank of the Black Ox, the Kings Head in Llandovery is a traditional coaching inn with a history that dates back to the 17th century.Nooks and crannies, crooked floors and exposed beams together with great food and refurbished bed and breakfast accommodation, make the Kings Head the perfect modern day coaching inn and the preferred choice of many; including tourists, commuters and even members of the Royal Household.Overlooking the cobbled market square, our location is simply superb. In the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, you’ll find us just off the A40, half way between the Eastern borders of Wales and the ferry ports in the West. But it isn’t just our location that keeps regulars and visitors coming back for more. Mouth watering food, a selection of great ales and a true Welsh welcome all await you at the Kings Head in Llandovery. ... more   less
