We turned up in an absolute downpour- Scotland was near enough under water, and this lovely man met us and showed us our pitch. We’d already been called by them on our journey up to make sure we were ok and still coming to the site. Gratefully we were told that they would keep the site open for us as they were going to close due to flooding. Our pitch was beautiful and I have spent the last week waking up to the beautiful Loch (which thankfully stayed away from the caravan!) The showers were clean and there was plenty of hot water. Toilets were great too. All wardens on site that we met were friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend this site but there is a steep climb out of Balmaha towards the campsite. Some inexperienced towers might struggle with this.

This is a lovely site right on the bank of Loch Lomond with access to swim or paddle board. The staff were so friendly and greet you at the gate and walk down to your pitch with you to check all ok. A couple from Wales were on duty for our stay and made us feel very welcome. You can also choose from available plots which is nice. There are a lot of campers walking the West Highland way but the site was very quiet. The facilities are very clean. I think that a lot more could be made of the shop. A perfect opportunity with all the walkers about. The Cashel Forest walks near the site are very good and worth a visit.

We camped here on an electric pitch for 5 nights as a family of 4 (children ages 6 and 2) in August and had a lovely stay. Despite arriving a little later than planned, we were guided to our pitch by staff and told exactly where to set up and where to park our car. We were up the top of the site, a little out the way, which turned out to be good for drainage when it rained. Over the course of the 5 days we found the staff to be helpful to any request we had including access to the family changing room and where to park our car when my Mum visited us for the afternoon. The site is well maintained, the shower areas are a little dated but work well with hot water and cleaned regularly. I found the site to be quiet at night. There is a laundry room with a couple of washing machines and a couple of driers (take some coins) There is a small play area ( a couple of swings) and a slide which our girls loved. On the shore there is a beautiful view of Loch Lomond and we spent plenty time learning to skim stones and using a rope swing that we found there. Balmaha is a very short drive or 30 min walk along the West Highland Way. We also spent a bit of time in Drymen and found a lovely coffee shop selling homemade pies and pastries. We visited Blair Drummond Safari Park (40 mins by car) and had an excellent day there.

The place is on a hard surface, ok, flat terrain, but grass... a disaster. The bald employee with a beard is a typical smartass because his wife is a manager. No possibility of reaching an agreement. When I said I wouldn't come back here, I heard from the manager that they didn't want customers like me... that's a shame.

We will never return to this campsite. We were due to be staying on this site for a total of four nights on an electric tent pitch. On arrival at the site, we were shown our pitch (all electrical pitches are on a steep hill by the way to the point plates will literally slide off your tables etc) and told where to set up our tent. After setting up our tent we were enjoying our stay when the pitch next to us was taken up by another camper, no problem there. The Warden an older gentleman with the long white beard, came up to us to state that we needed to move our guide ropes which again, no problem however he then started to get very irritated and pushy saying that the tents and car cannot fit into the pitch because we had pitched our tent wrong. We moved and obliged as best we could however our tent was well within our pitch limits. The bigger issue arises when the tent on the pitch next to us had finished setting up and parked their car in the spot that the warden had told them to park. The pitches had absolutely no space between them especially when a car is placed there which resulted in a very serious fire safety concern for all campers placed in these pitches. When the car door was opened it was hitting our guide ropes to our tent. After observing other tents along this row I could see this was not a one-off occurrence and that all the tents were not being managed to ensure proper and legal separation limits were being met. As a customer to this site, we were extremely concerned as to what we were witnessing as if one tent had gone on fire, baring in mind these are electrical pitches, then the whole row had the potential to go on fire which is a very high potential risk to life on the campsite. Having seen this huge fire safety risk sitting on the camp in full view, I went to reception to raise this to the staff. Upon entering the reception four members of staff were there including the warden slumped on a chair at the door. I politely stated I was staying on pitch sixteen and would like to raise a fire safety concern and started to explain about the tent pitches being extremely close to the cars in between. The warden then shouted from the chair that I quote word for word “Cars do not go on fire.” Fortunately, for myself confrontation and intimidation of this sort does not phase me so I immediately questioned the validity of this statement to which he repeated it again and I had to state that saying cars do not go on fire is a ridiculous statement to make and the way the pitches are set up causes a massive risk to whoever is staying on them. He was highly aggressive and defensive when talking to me. I would like to point out that I wasn’t even talking to him in the first place but the girl behind the counter before he started shouting profanities. He went on to state that I was being ridiculous and that myself and my husband are the problem because we “pitched our tent incorrectly and couldn’t even get out guide wires right." He also shouted at me that our tent was way bigger than stated to which I said to him he was welcome to come to measure our tent to ensure that it is within the size limits we stated on the booking to which he got flustered and defensive and changed the topic yet again to the pitch. He did not take me up on that offer to measure it (because it was the correct size). I said well maybe you should look at the suitability of the pitches as they clearly are not fit for purpose. I brought up that he was being extremely rude to me and I only wanted to discuss the fire safety issue. I said he was rude to my husband the day previous and that was also upsetting. The warden screwed up his face and rolled his eyes at me then laughed. All very immature and childish to say the least, you can’t have a reasonable discussion with people like that I’m afraid. He very angrily shouted in my face “Speak to the manager” to which I then turned round and the manager was there to speak to me who I later found out is actually his wife, go figure he gets away with talking to customers like that when his boss is his wife. This is clearly a long-standing issue and she seemed embarrassed. The manager started by telling me the car can be 3 metres away to which I had previously stated the pitches are not set out to allow 3 metres apart and the car was much closer. She handed me a bit of paper showing guidance and came with me to the pitch to see my concern. She could instantly see the issue at the pitch and it was actually the tent next to us was pitched wrong not us, that the car and pitch spacing was 100% a fire safety concern and that our tent was pitched well within our pitch space. She said I was “spot on” with my concerns. I was right and our tent was pitched well within our allowance. Actually further into our pitch that we had to be. That would be it right? No. The people next to us then moved their tent over and parked their car down the side again, where they were told. Even with them moving the tent there still was not 3 metres between our tent and their car (or 6 meters between the tents without the car) showing that even with both tents being pitched and ours even more into our pitch than it had to be that the pitches are still not meeting health and safety regulations. To make matters worse, the next morning we noticed two tents in pitches 19 and 20 pitched the same way, extremely close with a car in-between which actually had children staying in the tents. I witnessed the warden and the Manager checking the pitch availability for the day and saw them walk past these pitches set-up that were far too close and not fixing this issue one day after I raised the concern of the pitches being a potentially serious risk to life. I have no faith that this will be regulated properly in the future and whoever receives these pitches for years to come will be at risk. I sincerely fear that one day there will be a fire and because this issue has not been managed more people will be affected than what had to be. I went to the reception to raise a genuine issue that could cause death to campers and was shouted at and intimidated by an aggressive warden. The reaction from the rest of the staff told me that this is not a rare occurrence either. The manager assured me he would be talked to but again, I am aware this probably won’t happen. Never in my life have I been talked to the way I was received by him. It saddens me that another camper could have gone in there with the same concerns and will have been so intimidated by him they have been silenced or convinced they are being stupid so have gone away quietly. It is completely unacceptable. He is a bully. If a customer raises a genuine health and safety concern to staff, especially one that poses a risk to life then they should be taken seriously and the issue should be addressed immediately. Instead, I was harassed and told I was wrong before I had even properly discussed the issue or they had seen the issue first-hand. We fear that by taking a look at Tripadvisor reviews on this club site, the issue of this staff member, in particular, goes back years and yet he still works there with claims of sexism, harassment and discrimination in these reviews. We left our time at this site early as we could not stay there anymore seeing that we were being put at such high risk and the campers' lives were not valued. On top of this the facilities were poor, run down and dirty. Don’t book if you don’t have your own bathroom. We complained directly to the club with these concerns but we will see if anything is actually done. Probably not. They were very reluctant to give any sort of refund until I pointed out their own policies section on the website. Refund as a “gesture of good will” after ignoring my email for a week and me asking for a refund multiple times. Wouldn’t stay at this site again. Lots of great independent campsites in Scotland with much better facilities and staff.

This is our third readycamp as a group of mums and kids and the facilities here were the best out of all the places we’ve stayed. The site was next to the loch with a small shop, play park and direct access to the lake which we swam in daily! Facilities were clean and perfectly adequate!

Really enjoyed our stay here. We were a family with 3 tents pitched right beside the play park! Ideal! The staff were all super friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The views were beautiful from the beach area and we went swimming daily! The facilities were near by for us too so we were able to shower and wash dishes when required as well as phone charging! Which was a necessity with 2 teenagers! Happy memories made here, will definitely be back!

Beautiful location, staff were very helpful at all times and explained everything clearly. Facilities were cleaned to a high standard every day, site was very tidy and well laid out. Laundrette was handy. Might be advantageous to put the waste drain away from drinking water tap due to splash back. Only negatives were mucky guests not cleaning after themselves in showers (cleaning equipment available), and mucky guests camped next to water area allowing their dogs to foul and not clean it up. Child friendly site, the brats were everywhere enjoying themselves. Would come again, a pleasant and peaceful lovation

Great price and a lot of facilities for tent pitches. For about £11-12 I got access to WC, showers, clothes drying rack and even a microwave! Despite being next to a road the area was relatively quiet on a weeknight.

Arrived & all ok initially, we were given a pitch at far end of site opposite end to the facilities, which was ok. Next morning we spotted a vacated pitch next to lake and next to facilities - perfect for our 7 night stay, we asked if we could move there and were given several different excuses why we couldn’t including: someone else might be booked on there, although they don’t take advance pitch bookings? First come first served, too difficult to sort out on their computer system, the “big boss” had instructed them not to allow people to move pitches!! They just couldn’t be bothered. We have been with club for several years and have never encountered this problem before. We have changed pitches several times at different club sites without any problems or issues. There was no customer service. The facilities were very dated and run down. Beautiful area spoilt by the staff.
