I used to work here a few years ago and all I can say is " has nothing changed?" are you really still serving the same old dated menu? you still have the boring old red napkins and loud fuzzy radio playing in the corner it honestly looks like my grandmothers living room, please do look on the website.. Wow....

On a visit to lovely Lochgilphead we visited the Stag for drinks and a meal. We were made to feel welcome straight away and we were even shown the cute beer garden where our dog enjoyed a relaxing afternoon in the sunshine. the staff and regulars were very friendly and the food was extremely tasty. We enjoyed our visits to...

We (me and my mother) spent one night here. Rooms were comfortable, bathroom was a decent size. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had the full English breakfast which was nice. Good hotel to use to explore the area or just for a weekend break.

On Friday 17th July my husband and I arrived at the Stag asking about availability of a room for one night’s stay. We explained to Dan (the manager) that we were camping near Campbelltown and that as the weather forecast for that night predicted winds of up to 50 mph we had decided to find somewhere for an undisturbed night’s...

We arrived in beautiful Lochgilphead and after viewing the beauty of the loch looked for a tea room or cafe. There was a dearth ,a small greasy spoon and a take-out. We called into the Stag and were given a very warm welcome, shown into a dining room with easy chairs and a welcoming fire. We were brought coffee biscuits and...

Good choice on the menu. Resturant nice, clean and cosy. Friendly staff and good tasty, freshly cooked food. Even my fussy kids were happy and well catered for. Thoroughly recommend and will visit again.

This little restaurant was just fine for lovely home made sandwiches and tea. The food was fresh, the staff wre friendly even if the restaurant was a bit spartan. It did the job but didn't wow us. Mind you there was not a lot of competition.

Nothing special here but a good mid place hotel and restaurant. Staff very nice and friendly. Restaurant has plastic tablecloths which take away from an old inn look. Well positioned hotel right on main street.

We booked for the Friday until Monday and found the room very cold and characterless. It was all white and the bedding was very uncomfortable ie the pillows were flat as was the duvet? We expect to see puffed up pillows and duvet. There was only one bedside table so I had nowhere to put my glasses but on the...

“A high room or a back room, away from the bar!”
charlotteJimmy, 12 Nov 2013 | Read review
“Perhaps away from the function room if sleeping very early, However in my experience the functions ended at a reasonable hour, and besides the Scottish welcome to join with the function was extended! This is a very peaceful and quiet hotel with the manager and staff always on hand to be of assistance and no doubt to any serious concern.”
