An extremely warm welcome on arrival. We originally planned to stay on the campsite but after a long day of walking on the WHW we upgraded to a room in the hotel. The room was basic but comfortable, with a nice selection of tea and shortbread. We arrived after the kitchen had closed but the bar staff we more than...

Stayed here for a night and loved the location of the hotel. The location and the views more than make up for the smaller aspects like the need for a bit of refurbishment. Lovely and helpful team, food was good

I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone walking the west highland way. We stayed in one of the hotel rooms for one night bed and breakfast, but there are also cabins and camping pitches available. We were really appreciative of a bath after a long day of walking, and ate from the bar menu that night. The rooms were...

The MacDonald Hotel and Cabins were a find, the location and our cabin ideal for all our hill walking needs. The staff were welcoming and friendly, the food was excellent (loved the Haggis Fritters and Venison Burger) with great choice of local beers, ales and fantastic range of whiskies, all essential after a hard day on the hills. But what...

Absolutely awesome! We stayed in a cabin, which was warm, dry, clean and spacious. It's a perfect location for the WHW, with mind-blowingly stunning scenery to wake up to, superb facilities which we weren't charged extra for (showers, drying room, pot wash), the bar staff were very friendly and welcoming and served us delicious food. And everything was very reasonably...

This was the last stop on our West Highland Way hike, and we definitely picked the right place to stay! Rooms were warm and comfortable but where this hotel stands out was the food and the staff. We turned up extremely late and asked to change from tents to a room, which was no problem. Despite the kitchen having already...

Our advice here is to pass this review by and move on, but like any self respecting independent hotel owners we do feel the need to respond - more for those of you reading the review than for the author. As you can see from the majority of reviews since we have owned the hotel, this is the exception rather...

The best word to describe our stay at this hotel would be "underwhelming". There is nothing particularly bad, but there's nothing to write home about either. The room was clean and comfortable with the facilities you expect (tea, coffee, kettle, etc) and the Wifi was decent. The bathroom was clean but there was no soap provided. Also we had low...

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review, we have owned the hotel for just over a year now and are gradually investing in better facilites and refurbishments as time and money become available, and thank you for your best wishes. I'm glad we were able to address the issue with the water pressure for you, hopefully next time...

We stayed here over Easter weekend with family which include 2 small children. The service was very good and the owner's very welcoming. The meals were all good and the atmosphere in the bar was great.
