Although we were only staying one night (and out of season) at Dunvalanree, Alan and Alison went out of their way to make our visit truly wonderful. Our beautiful room overlooked the bay at the front of the house - and the whisky and home-made shortbread in there were a much appreciated treat after our long journey from London! Despite... More

An intimate 5 star dining experience. We didn't stay in the rooms, but took a group of 16 to dine, and everyone absolutely loved their dinner. The food was excellent (seafood especially so), as was the service. Our host initially caught us off guard with his ultra dry humor, but when we were up to speed with him, he made... More

My wife and I visited lovely Carradale and Dunvalanree for an all too brief trip recently. Yet again Alyson and Alan didn't disappoint. The welcome, accommodation and food were excellent and even the weather was kind to us. Thanks for a lovely time; looking forward to our next visit !

We stayed three nights at Alan and Alyson's long established restaurant with rooms, situated in a cliff top location at Port Righ just south of Carradale Golf Club on the east coast of Kintyre. Great views across to Arran. The accommodation is clean and comfortable - a bit dated but perfectly adequate - but essentially you come here for the... More

My daughter and I booked two nights at Dunvalanree, staying there the night before we began our walk on the Kinytre Way, and then again after walking the two sections from Clachan to Tayinloan, and from Tayinloan to Carradale. After our first night's dinner, superbly cooked by Alyson, and then a wonderful breakfast the next morning, we had to do... More

The long drive to Port Righ, Carradale was richly rewarded by finding a superb country house B&B with great views, and a warm friendly reception. The rooms are richly appointed and the complimentary 'dram' of whisky was much appreciated. The very comfortable lounge was a great place to meet other guests before dinner (yes, dinner in a B&B). The real... More

We loved this hotel. The room was spotless and had a great view over the bay. We were welcomed with a pot of tea and some good local advice on where to go. Evening dinner was a real treat with a good menu choice. We will definitely recommend this to other travellers heading off to western isles.

Dunvalanree is found at the end the road overlooking Port Righ beach and we visited it with our daughter and son in law for dinner to celebrate their wedding anniversary. They had eaten here on many occasions but it was our first visit and we were not disappointed. The meal was excellent and good value for money and the scallops... More

We booked a double room and were disappointed to say the least it was tiny. But what was worse was the fact it hadn't been used in quite some time. To describe the bed as freezing is no exaggeration it was bitter. Everything about the room was dilapidated and tired. It clearly wasn't fit for purpose. The host Alan (Basil)... More

We are so sorry you had such a time with us that you did not enjoy your stay. We asked, as you left, if you had enjoyed your stay. You said you did. But then took to the pages of this forum to say otherwise and make personal remarks. You booked our last available room for that night, which we... More
