TLC is probaly the best way to describe what this Hotel is missing, There is a fine line between Rustic and Quirky and just plain run down. Our room had torn paper on the walls,Carpets badly needing replaced, dents and cracks in bathroom walls, shower not working and no hot water from taps either, patch works filler jobs on the walls. For the... We had a night here on our three-week tour of the western highlands and islands, and a very pleasant short stay it was. We'd booked a bedroom with a king-sized bed, but were offered one with a double, which was very swiftly rectified. A corner room on the first floor with a good harbour view was splendidly located. We ate... More

Very friendly and helpful staff, unbelievably beautiful location, lovely big rooms and bathroom, good cooking, large breakfast. It is old-fashioned but very atmospheric and comfortable with open fires and big armchairs. The view from our room was stunning and we had a lovely time. It is being gradually updated but keeping its charm. They welcomed our baby and our dog... More

The hotel wasn't full so the lady who greeted us kindly offered to upgrade us to a harbour view room. The room was really spacious and nice, no wifi signal in our room and the decor is a little dated in places but it's undergoing a renovation and the old grandeur looks great. The breakfast was really tasty. Would definitely... More

I recently visited the Western Isles Hotel for a family get together. I have to say what a fabulous building and what amazing views. To say the new owners have a challenge on their hands to bring this hotel back to its former glory is a slight understatement but having seen their work in previous hotels I can honestly say... We recently stayed at this old Baronial style hotel on an overnight to the glorious village of Tobermory on Mull. We were warmly greeted by the staff and Meg the collie. The place was warmed by a roaring log fire in the foyer. Check in was quick and efficient. Our room was on the first floor. Handy, as there is... More

The staff of this hotel seem to be under the misapprehension that the intention to provide a service is the same as providing it: it is not. On arrival we were told that there was no bar (drinks could be brought to you in the lounge), the restaurant was closed (dinner would be served in the breakfast room) and there... More

Welcoming foyer with a roaring fire looked promising but a hike up three floors was not worth the trouble. Twin beds when solo travelling is always a bit of a disappointment and although the room was clean it was also worn, dated and in dire need of an upgrade. Breakfast was not enjoyable and the check out was lacklustre, with... More

Me and my partner recently stayed here for two nights. I have to say before I arrived I was feeling a little uneasy after seeing some of the not so good reviews, but I can happily say now that I had no need to be worried as we had a very pleasant stay! We had a very warm welcome and... More
