The local oysters from Loch Gruinart were the best i've had anywhere in the world. They told us that the seafood platter was taken off the menu the week...

Definitively, if you're into whiskey and malts, you must visit Islay and the Isle of Jura, and when doing so, stay at The Islay Hotel in Port Ellen. Above all, a warm, clean, spacious and elegant place. Rooms are comfortable, high-end and greatly equipped. The bar offers a nice place to share a dram with your travel mates, and the...

Booked three nights at the hotel. No complaints whatsoever - even though the heating system defied all logic and i never manged to heat the bathroom. My only issue was the price. The hotel does not warrant it's very high prices - more expensive than central London hotels. I've stayed in better for much less. Looks as though advantage is...

Had a meal and drinks here with two others last Sunday, on our first ever trip to Islay. Beautiful menu and excellent meal. Large selection of Islay malt whisky as you might expect! Excellent service with well trained, efficient staff. Comfortable and relaxing surroundings. (Please note we didn't stay in the hotel, as it was full.) I'll be back. Highly...

My buddy and I twice visited the restaurant at the Islay Hotel during our recent visit to Port Ellen in August 2016. (Please note: we did not stay at the hotel, so this review is only about the restaurant.) We found it to be an excellent dining experience and recommend it heartily to other visitors to Port Ellen. A very clean and nice hotel. The silver room was a bit small though. The breakfast was very good. We ate local seafood in the restaurant in the evening, very tasty. Checkout time at 10am surprised us. You can walk to Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg.

Stayed here before an early ferry hoping for a good nights sleep before a long journey. The hotel has been refurbished to a high standard and the rooms are well fitted. The restaurant food was great for both breakfast and dinner. I would have given a 5 star review but unfortunately we stayed in room number 4 which is above...
