Visited for dinner only while in Bowmore for one night. (We stayed with Fergus in the An Cuan B&B opposite -which I can recommend as stylish and comfortable). As stated in other reviews, the menu is extensive and the portions large. I would see both these things as good points! We had an excellent meal with friendly service. Make sure...

Hi, I am glad you enjoyed your meal. You are right, especially at this time of year, booking is essential. You are also right about the accommodation. Our building is 1835 and there are limitations to what you can do. Hope to see you again

We had a great evening having an early birthday celebration meal during a family holiday, wonderful food and really friendly hotel. We went back for lunch later in the holiday and it was equally good. The scampi, venison and crab salad are particularly recommended. Our dog got a great welcome and loved it as well! Highly recommended if you are...

A quite bleak exterior belies this hotel's true worth. Friendly reception, excellent room, happy, chatty and ... singing staff in hotel and restaurant. Even the lady cleaning the toilets and collecting the fire wood was singing and humming. Must be a good place to work. Certainly a great place to stay and eat. I rate this hotel the best of...

On arrival here we could see it was a very busy an popular venue. After finishing an evening of work we were delighted with the food which was excellent (rustic chips were amazing) and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Great service, food and staff. The only downside was I could hear everything from the bar until about 12:30 to 1am...

I was so impressed with this family owned and operated hotel and restaurant, I arranged another return trip just to back up my first impression. The rooms were clean and comfortable, but on our second visit they were installing a sky light outside our window, from early morning until early evening. I liked this place so much I could not...

Thank you very much for your review. You will be pleased to know that the work on the executive rooms is now finished and it was worth the disruption. Three other rooms will be done in the coming winter to the same standard as the executive rooms. Hope we will see you again at some time.

Visited the Bowmore Hotel last weekend with an elderly friend. Last stay was two years ago and since then much work has been done to improve and upgrade the building. The dining room and bar areas are outstanding with a very high quality stone and wood theme and creates a fine atmosphere. Again staff were very helpful and friendly. We...

Spacious, light filled accommodations with great view of loch and town. Andrew gave great advice on visiting distilleries, bus travel, historic sights on Islay, local restaurants. Breakfast was great way to start the day - a dram of single malt is available, too. Easy walk to center of town with a number of dining choices.

Visited on business for one night. This is very much a pub with rooms. The food was OK in the small restaurant next to the bar. The big problem was the beds, the sheets were very strange and felt like plastic which made for a very uncomfortable night. The bar was very noisy so sleep was not possible until they...
