I went here with my daughter with Caledonian Travel, we paid an extra 50.00 each for a room with a view, the view was beautiful, but the state of the rooms were a big dissappointment, the wallpaper was water stained the base of the bed was stained, and the carpets stained and filthy, my daughter had white socks on and...

Sorry to hear about your disappointment with our rooms. It must admit it is very unusual to receive negative feedback about cleanliness of our rooms, as you can see from other reviews we normally receive very positive feedback regarding the cleanliness of the Hotel. I will certainly look into this with the relevant department manager. I’m glad to hear you...

Stayed for 3 nights booked with shearings holidays. Rob our driver was very professional and gave us a great tour of the highlands. The bay highland hotel is in a prominent position in the village of srathpeffer which is a very peaceful village and a welcome break from the city. After getting on the coach at Rotherham we didn't have...

Had a lovely stay through Shearings. From stepping onto the coach to stepping off back home. Could not fault - coach driver, hotel and staff, entertainment, food, excursions. Well done! Would book again with Shearings/Bay as my husband is sceptical about coach trips but has changed his view.

Stayed for only one night as we were attending an event in Strathpeffer. We may have been the only non bus party guest, I'm not sure. Our room was basic but clean, which is very important to us. Certainly no view, but that was not important as we were there for one night only. No toiletries, only soap. Hand held...

We have travelled abroad with Shearings previously and will be doing so again in December but always driven when staying Shearings’ hotels in the UK. This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. We drove up last time and so we thought we would try a 4 day coach tour this time. We found this to have...

This is a lovely highland hotel, decked out in tartan with a beautiful staircase up to the rooms. It is a Victorian hotel built for the days when visitors would get the train from all over to visit the spa village of Strathpeffer. We stayed for two nights, the breakfasts were lovely (buffet style for cereals, porridge, fruits, rolls etc...

The evening entertainment was great especially on the Tuesday and Thursday nights due to a man called RAYMOND who was absolutely fantastic. He was a brilliant musician with a lovely voice and hilarious as a comedian in fact a good old fashioned all rounder not to be missed. He was the main content of the conversations on the bus home....

A wonderful Victorian hotel originally built by the railway company to accommodate visitors to the spa town of Strathpeffer. The public rooms still retain their Victorian splendour. The bedrooms and bathrooms are large well furnished and clean. Breakfast was good but the evening meal was not as good. The staff were very helpful and keen. The lift was small and...

Thanks for your review. We are restricted with the size of the lift due the age and layout of the hotel. It can get busy on arrival days but hopefully you didn’t have to wait too long during the rest of your stay. I’m glad you enjoyed your room and found everything well furnished and clean. Kind Regards Alastair.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Peacefully set in its own grounds with lovely views over the colourful village square, this chateau style hotel’s traditional features have been carefully retained to strike just the right Highland note. A warm welcoming feeling comes as much from the friendly staff as from the fine wood panelled public rooms which have been carefully preserved. Strathpeffer itself is just steps away from the hotel and is renowned as an attractive Highland spa resort with fabulous Victorian architecture. Be sure to enjoy the scenic views of the village below from the open veranda. The massive peak of Ben Wyvis is the backdrop to this charming village. It’s a perfect base from which to explore Scotland’s dramatic Northern Highlands – mountainous countryside, sparkling streams, waterfalls and golden shores. ... more   less
