We were welcomed ever so kindly by the owners, their dog and horses, stayed 4 nights in an absolutely lovely log cabin 20 meters from the loch. The kitchen is small but entirely sufficient for 2 people, the entire cabin was super clean and the bed was very comfy. When we were heading on our outings and encountered one of...

I don't even know where to start... I have had the most amazing time! From beautiful cabins facing the Loch, to the warm welcome by the staff. We stayed in the most beautiful cabin facing loch ness with the sun rising over the mountain and shining through my window to the nights where all the stars are shining in the...

What a fantastic stay! We were made to feel so, so welcome by the owners. We stayed in one of the beautiful wood cabins with 2 double bedrooms, a kitchen, living room and bathroom, decking and parking space... Not to mention the unbelievable view overlooking Loch Ness. We had a delicious breakfast cooked every morning with Haggis fresh from the...

Travelled 7 hours to get here.... Didn't stay 2 hours I bought bleach to try and clean the place... Got back in the car and travelled another 4 hours to find a hotel in the city. The log cabin smelt so bad you couldn't take a breath, there was pubic hair in the bathroom urine stains up the wall the...

We were right on the edge of Loch Ness. Took a dip in the freezing cold black water. Walked into town everyday to watch the canal boats, have a pint and wander back along the loch. Horses, highland cattle at your doorstep. Watch the tour boats pass your window, relax or take a walk this is the place to unwind...

This B&B is a very homely one with a wonderful host by the name of Jenny. She has so much information to share and makes you feel right at home. Her property is very large and Jenny is happy for you to walk around it. Our room was quite basic but very clean and cosy.

Such a friendly welcome when we stayed self catering at The Shieling cabin. There was everything we needed fifteen minutes walk away in the village. Very special location. Miss it so much. We could have spent all day without seeing anyone. Lovely.

Stayed for two nights as part of a hiking trip. Jenny was a wonderful host and make us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. The rooms are very nice and in the evening there is a beautiful fire to relax by with a glass of whisky! Will definitely be back.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Welcome to Old Pier House, a Highland farmhouse on the shores of Loch Ness, near the pretty village of Fort Augustus. We offer bed and breakfast in the main house open from April to October and self-catering facilities in our Loch Ness Log Cabins which are open all year round. This is a very private location on a peninsula in Loch Ness with stunning loch and mountain views yet only a ten minute walk or a two minute drive from the centre of the village. Located in the heart of the Highlands we are ideally situated as a central base for your Scottish touring holiday. We welcome walkers, cyclists, canoeists, horses and camping groups. There is plenty of parking and storage space. The 125 year old house with magnificent views has been extended to provide comfortable en-suite ground floor bedrooms, sitting rooms with log fires and a large bright breakfast room with superb views. Originally the Old Pier House was the end of the line for the West Highland Railway where big paddle steamers carried timber, cattle and people up the loch to Inverness. The old pier still remains and provides wonderful photo opportunities, a great picnic location and moorings for small boats. We have friendly Highland cattle and ponies that graze naturally on the heather hills, fields and surrounding woodlands. We speak fluent Gaelic, French, German, Italian and Spanish. ... more   less
