Detailed Reviews
Booked a nights camping to see if the two year old would like it and safe to say he had a great time and wants to go back! His papa enjoyed it too.
Low Meadow was nice and accessible and all the facilities close by and he couple nip off for a scoot round the skills park on his bike whenever he felt like it.
Great evening food from the Bonnie Mountain and breakfast from the main cafe and really appreciated the effort made to give an outdoor lit eating area where you can easily socially distance.
Highly recommended and hope to be back soon.

This was our third time at Comrie Croft, and despite the weather we had a great time!
The Croft itself is ideal if you want to get away from it all, and is in great location in Perthshire just over an hour from Edinburgh.
We booked using an 'itison' voucher, and paid an additional £30 for staying at a weekend, and £5 supplement for our dog. Check in was easy, and the staff were helpful, we arrived just as reception was closing but this was no problem and we were given a quick explanation of the facilities and site rules.
The Kata was clean and had everything needed for a weekend break. Our Kata was up quite a steep set of steps which were quite rocky, and slippy in the conditions. Access might be a problem for some, so beware of this when booking if you need easy access.
There were 5 in our party and the sleeping platform provided ample space and was surprisingly comfortable. The outside compostable toilet was exactly what you would expect, and had a novelty factor for the kids!
The door shop is well stocked and had an organic/sustainable bias as you might expect.
There are lots of nice walks that start directly from the site, or you can hire bikes and make the most of the purpose built trails that surround the Croft. In short you can do as much or as little as you want!

By far the best hostel I've been to. I've been going there for several years and even tho the place was great to start with, it's growth has been epic. The newly refurbished rooms in the steading and wonderful and cosy, yet practical. The room I had was perfectly accessible for someone with mobility issues and offered an easy access wet room with one seriously powerful shower! The team here are awesome, so helpful, so friendly and really make your stay a wonderful experience

We travelled to Comrie Croft for a relaxing break with our family, 2 adults and 2 kids (one baby 1y/o and one toddler 3 y/o) and it was a brilliant break! We will definitely be going back!
We stayed in Kata 2 as was recommended for us by a member of the Comrie staff when I called. It was secluded away from other pitches and the access track which we asked for. This suited day time napping little ones. Good call as our littlest needed the mid day rests.
The Kata was excellent, plenty room on the bed for 2 adults and one 3 y/o (who is a real wriggler) and also plenty space for a travel cot on the main floor space.
We were given a fire guard (as requested) which we managed to pop the travel cot beside and the firewood basket so that the kids couldn't get anywhere near the stove. Despite the cold, wind and rain, the kata was really cozy really quick with the stove on, and we just popped the kids in extra blankets and thick grow bags for sleeping and all was fine until the morning when we just popped the stove on again before play time started again.
There was plenty space outside the Kata for the kids to play in the leaves, bushes, trees, stream and MUD! The covered area and picnic table outside was ideal for all our meals, and the kids loved eating outside. The littlest just ate in the buggy at the picnic table with us to save taking a high chair of any sort.
The only thing we didn't use was the camp fire area...as it was raining every night...but thats our fault for holidaying in Scotland in late October! The area looked great for a family camp fire in the evening. Once the littlest is older and doesn't think that fires want cuddles then the campfire will be great!
The walks on site and to Comrie were great for us and the kids, and our 3y/o loved the bike tracks. The surrounding area is also incredible for walks etc.
The washing up, toilet and shower facilities in the main block were always clean and showers cosy when we were there, and were really well kept. The shop was really well stocked with bits and bobs and essentials. And the coffee and food from the cafe was great!
Our Kata battery ran out on the last night, lights went off (lack of solar charge this time of year), so we called the out of hours number, and within 10 mins it was replaced and we were up and running again. Great service!
Overall a brilliant break. We will definitely be back! We will have to...our 3 y/o keeps asking when our next holiday is at the Katas!
Thank you to all the staff/crofters for making this a great stay, during pretty tough times. Exactly what we all needed.
See you again soon.
Thanks,
Callum

Hi Callum, Thanks for the amazing review. I remember booking you guys in, sounds like Kata 2 worked well for you all. The best days are when you finish up messy and tired, glad to hear your kids found that out. Next time, if it's easier we can pop a high chair in the Kata too. Stay safe, Amanda

Just returned from 3 days with the kids. We were in the summer camp which is basically just a field sectioned off. It is a 5min walk to reach the toilet facilities and shop/cafe. We hired bikes for 2 days and the kids made great use of these constantly visiting the pump track and the bike trails but with 3 kids and 2 adults it wasn't cheap but kept kids occupied. I hired an electric bike which was so much fun and made it easier to reach higher points in the trails. 11pm is the cut off time for noise which everyone adhered to. Showers have a booking system now and are cleaned. There are cleaning products available in between showers. The one way system wasnt very clear however. All in all had a good few days away and it was relaxing. Definitely be back

This was our 3rd visit to Comrie Croft all in the lower meadow, 2018,2019 and just there 2022. All about the same week. We have 5 kids who range in age and this year seemed to bore them quite a bit. Unless you are a mountain biker there isn't much if anything to do for kids or families. It's a shame as the wooded hill that the site sits on could be used to better effect to engage kids in play and also learning about the environment.
Bikers seem to have the run of the site. Kids were constantly being told they were on a biking trail with no clear signs and a lack of actual walking trails. Swings which seemed to be all over the last trips which busied the kids all over alot seemed to have disappeared, think there was one which seemed to be put up by campers up the top end and heavily guarded by some parents from all kids getting a shot.
Trying to get a shower or gain access to a toilet, which most double as a shower room was near impossible and with one of the children having Crohns disease presented problems.
The staff that you come across are all present enough but only seem to engage if you do.
The direction they may want to go in might be mountain bike suited but it's to the detrement to other users, we have certainly been put off of a return trip. The more grass on show in the lower meadow the more room the bikers and bike shop/hire staff use to practice on there bikes.
A real lack of things to do on site which could both generate more money and also more users prepared to spend a bit extra and return as well as recommend. There doesn't appear to be that long term vision. I would happily spent money on our 5 doing activities on site, and would it really cost a lot to have tree swings across site (enough for most kids on site to use) and maintain them ?
A few timber trim trails dotted around to amuse kids of all ages and some areas where dens could be used/made. We have a lot of this done by country rangers for not much cost locally that really engages kids and adults.
The ability to order meals on site for a night or two when you can't be bothered cooking would be great and also an extra income. Maybe it's been tried before and wasn't cost effective.
I'm disappointed that we left disappointed as the kids seemed to enjoy it more the last visits.
There wasn't much to do locally, which isn't the crofts fault at all. Dunblane and Crieff don't offer much at all and Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre is effectively a very expensive bird sanctuary.

Let’s start with the positives:
1. Beautiful little site, very quiet and feels like your out in the wilderness a bit which I liked. Camper van bit was small and lovely nestled in the trees with a view over the bike track which was handy to keep an eye on the kids.
2. Bike tracks were great and kept the kids entertained.
3. Cafe is a nice addiction to have on site.
4. The wee shop was great (although any time we went in there was no fresh bread which was a little disappointing only as I was looking forward to that).
5. Camp fire areas abs picnic benches.
6. Location great for going to loch earn which is a great spot for water sports.
Now the negatives:
1. I’m perplexed at all the reviews on here saying the toilets and showers were spotless as that’s certainly not the experience we had. They were a bit grim, definitely not cleaned often enough, especially not for during a time like now with corona.
2. When we arrived there was no soap or toilet roll in the toilets. Still none some time later when we went back.
3. There is only ONE drinking water tap for the whole site and we were told at 10.30 when we went to fill up that we couldn’t use it as the cafe used it when it was open…. So in 24 degree heat there is no safe drinking water on site for most of the day.
4. No choice to have electric hook up which is fine as you obviously know this before you go but the option would be nice and I think it would encourage people to stay longer.
Overall we did really enjoy our stay. It was a beautiful site and the kids loved the bike trails. We would come back but the toilets and showers really need to be cleaned abs checked more regularly. It’s the most basic thing any campsite can do to make the experience that bit better, especially at the moment I feel there is no excuses for not cleaning toilets and showers. Also hope another drinking water tap is installed as that is not acceptable to not have water because the cafe uses it too.

+1
I have driven past Comrie Croft literally hundreds of times, I even popped in once for a nosey not long after they opened, but until had never stayed there. I guess it seemed a bit to close to home being only 30 minutes away.
Wow, the site has expanded so much since that visit but despite being busy it still manages to feel very spacious.
We arrived late, very much on impulse and found the reception closed at 5. No problem, a mobile number is provided and after a quick and welcoming call we were on our way up to the High Meadow. The site doesn't allow cars onto the camping fields (which I think is great, much safer for the young ones). So you can drive up to various drop off points and use the provided wheelbarrows to transport your gear. Novel idea and really quite practical. The pitches are marked by way of very large circles painted on the grass and were very well spaced out. There were a good few tents up here but you can't even see another in the pics attached. The views from up here are fantastic and worth the wee bit of distance you are away from the main facilities. Each pitch had its own firepit and you can either bring your own logs, as we did, or buy a bag at reception (£7).
The site asks for Shhh from 11pm and I have to say it was respected impeccably, despite the site being so busy. That is definitely the first time I've experienced that on any campsite !!
We only stayed for one night and left early the next morning so didn't use the showers but I did have a look at them for future visits and they looked very good and clean. The tiger worm loos caused a bit of consternation from my daughter initially but she eventually made peace with the idea lol they again were very clean.
The cafe is a wee gem serving great breakfast rolls and a great selection of cakes and bakes. We only had bacon rolls and coffees but they were excellent.
We are already looking to return before the school holidays are over, maybe bring the bikes for a hurl in the trails. Struggling to decide which part of the site to stay on though, love the look of the Katas and the woodland tent pitches. Decisions, decisions !!

Starting with the positives, staff were very pleasant, location is ideal and there's plenty to do especially for the outdoors type. This campsite could be amazing with some very minor improvements.
Areas that could be improved-
Spent the weekend in our campervan at the campervan area, and a huge issue we found is that your van will be filthy inside after any length of stay, the pitches are muddy fine gravel which gets everywere! , spent half my stay cleaning the van out and wiping down anything we dared place on the ground. The camp fire area is on a sloped area which is a pain for sitting at also which wasn't ideal.
Another issue we had was sinage, for being unfamiliar with the layout the map provided was not very clear and signage that was there was vague and inconsistent, with one instant a sign saying vacate by 10, then another 11 and another 12...
Clearer signage to where we dispose of rubbish would have been benificial as this was not clear either.
As I say, it would be a great campsite with some minor tweaks, perhaps some fresh eyes advising, but unfortunately this one left us overall feeling a bit disappointed

My girlfriend and I booked a few weeks in advance and were looking forward to it after seeing images of the woodland campsite and hearing about the site from friends.
It did not disappoint!
We both absolutely loved it. My girlfriend isn't crazy about camping, but comrie croft provides camp site luxuries that are rare on other sites like phone charging, fridge, microwave and all on an eco camp site! The tent pitch kept me happy with out very own fire pit. We bought wood for the fire before heading up, but you can buy wood on site for the camp fires from outside the camp site shop. I'd recommend doing that as it's only a couple of pounds more than a supermarket, but you get more and helping a local business.
We had pitch 12, which was a spacious site. Although the campsite was fairly quiet when we visited, the tent pitch was far enough away from other potential tents. The only slight flaw is that pitch 12 sits on a slant. So if you're like us and had sleeping bags on sleeping mats, you'll spend your nights sliding over to one side of your tent. I'm sure had we taken more time to adjust we could have sorted that.
Toilets and showers were very clean bar a few muddy footprints, but it's a camp site, so if that bothers you, go to a hotel.
All the staff we met were very helpful and easy to get on with. The coffee, bread and cakes from the cafe situated next to the camp shop were also excellent. Next time I go I'll be trying the mountain biking trails that they have on site.
We'll both be staying here again, maybe a flatter pitch. Next time I'm not sure I'll leave.

Response from Andrew Donaldson, Owner at Comrie Croft Eco Lodge & Camping
Responded 4 Nov 2020
Your review is ace! Lovely to hear the Croft has convinced your girlfriend to come camping again. A few of woodland pitches do slope slightly just due to the location, needs a bit of tent tweaking sometimes. The campsite team are doing some ground works over the winter so hopefully they will be flatter next season. You win the award for best comment too "Toilets and showers were very clean bar a few muddy footprints, but it's a camp site, so if that bothers you, go to a hotel". Can't wait to see you both again. Stay safe, Amanda (Office Manager)

From £12 for an adult mountain bike. Kids bikes, e-bikes, trailers, etc also available.
Yes dogs welcome but i think there is a small fee and you have to advise them when booking, we took our springer spaniel and it loved it.
Yes. You can get wood locally but not from site..there are a few forests in the area, so don't buy it.
Regards.
John.
Im afraid im not sure about the price for tents, have you had a look on their website? I wouldn't hesitate to give them a call, all the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. But I would definitely recommend a 10 minute drive to the Royal Comrie Hotel for food. There's nothing much at all around, and Comrie is the closest place. Its not ideal for walking as there are no pavements most of the way. Me and my partner had one of the best meals we've had there, and its a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Hope this helps!
