Property's Favourite Review
My second visit to merlindale, but certainly not my last. House is beautiful!! Same friendly welcome from both Paul & Helen. I had the same room as last year I'm pleased to say nothing has changed, the room is large, double aspect, & has all the attributes for a great stay, big comfy bed, lovely decor with a superb large bathroom, directly opposite the room with a fabulous shower (you'll want to stand under it all day) breakfast is among the best I've had @ any guesthouse, & I've been to many believe me!! This b&b I'm my opinion is good old fashion service, in the nicest possible way & look forward to returning next year .

As other rightly comment, the hardworking owners strive to ensure perfection, this Victorian property has been very tastefully restored. Good and sensible precautions were taken because of Covid-19 and standards of cleanliness are extremely high.
We loved the Bluebell room, with clawfoot bath and generous toiletries. Breakfast is superb, a good choice and quality ingredients. The property is easy walking distance from Crieff for evening dining options, those suggested by the owners were very good. Exploring the beautiful Trossachs national park is an added bonus of this lovely location. We can highly recommend, and, as an added pleasure, the weather was absolutely wonderful.

Dear Carol, It was so lovely to meet both you and James for your recent stay with us and thank you for choosing Merlindale. We really appreciate you taking time out to write a review providing us with your thoughts and feedback, particularly important in the current climate with the precautions and measures we have taken to provide as safe an environment for our guests as we possibly can. We want guests to feel safe and comfortable at the same time and its really positive to know you felt this way. Thank you. We are delighted you had a great time exploring both Crieff in terms of eateries and the surrounding areas, we are so close to so many beautiful areas including The Trossachs, Perthshire and of course stretching in to the lower parts of the highlands. Hopefully we will be able to welcome you back for a return visit one day. All the best. Paul and Helen.

Difficult to add new praise to the perfection of the previous reviews but we could find nothing to fault with our 5 night stay. Nothing was too much trouble and Paul was continually looking for improvements that could be made. It was difficult to make any suggestions. :-) The breakfast was the full Scottish experience and didn't require you to eat until the evening (if you chose) and always cooked the way you wanted by Helen. Rooms were spotless and well equipped, showers were hot and had good pressure and the location was perfect for a walk in to the Crieff restaurants though far enough away for there to be no disturbance.

Both my wife and I spent 3 nights at The Merlindale. From the minute we arrived Paul and Helen our hosts made us feel at home and extremely welcoming. All COVID-19 precautions were in place and gave us the reassurance we needed
Our room was decorated to a very high standard, very clean and well maintained. The en-suite bathroom had both a large shower area and a roll top bath which was a welcoming site after our long walks. Small treats in the room included a wee dram, tablet, short bread and not to mention tea and coffee facilities.
Breakfast was exceptional with everything you could imagine we highly recommend the scrambled egg and smoked salmon, delicious
Well done Paul and Helen a return visit is on the cards

We needed somewhere to stay and use as a base for riding a number of motorcycle routes called the Crieff Cloverleaf and boy did we drop lucky!
The property is very well presented and the room we stayed in (Orchid) was newly renovated to very high standard with a huge comfortable bed and large en-suite. As well as being well stocked with tea, coffee and fresh water there was also an abundance of 13a and usb power outlets which is a big plus for motorcyclists and is usually overlooked by most hotels/B&B's. The 'wee dram' on arrival was very much appreciated too :).
The breakfast was like a three course meal and if taken in full you definitely won't be needing lunch! It consisted of fruit/yogurt and cereal followed by toast and marmalade/honey etc which was then followed by a full freshly cooked breakfast, all washed down with a plentiful supply of tea/coffee/juice.
Paul and Helen are the perfect hosts and were extremely friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Paul's knowledge of Scotland and the fact that he is a fellow biker helped us make the most of our tours by suggesting little hidden gems along the routes which helped make this trip a truly memorable one and the fact that there was a garage for storing our bike and a selection of tools available should we have needed them made this the perfect place for us.
In summary this is a gem of a place which is excellent value for money and in my opinion sets the bar to which all B&B's should strive to achieve.

Dear David, It has been our absolute pleasure to meet you and Angela and to host and be a base for your 5 day bike tour. We feel incredibly lucky that we live in such a central and beautiful part of the country with awesome roads on our doorstep and love the fact there are lots of guests who want to explore this part of Scotland whether it be on 2 wheels or 4. Thank you so much for taking time out to provide us with your thoughts and feelings in such a comprehensive review. We really enjoy what we do and we just want to ensure that all guests whether walking, fishing, cycling, driving, running, golfing, sightseeing or motorbiking to name but a few are all catered for and feel like they are in a home from home. Thank you for your feedback as this really does make such a difference to us as a business and really help future guests to make an informed choice to book their stay with us. We look forward to welcoming you back for further adventures. Take care and warmest regards. Paul and Helen.

Just spent ,three nights at Merlindale. From the afternoon we arrived to the morning we left, Helen and Paul made us so welcome. We were offered a wide choice of cooked breakfasts prepared expertly by Helen, to everything you could imagine from the continental range. The bedrooms were pure luxury, a very large, comfortable bed, beautiful seating and an ensuite with roll top bath, large shower and a full range of toiletries, We were greeted each morning by Paul who was a mine of information on places to visit and eat. He printed out maps and helped us make our visit full. We were very sorry to leave and hope to return soon. Thank you Helen and Paul for a wonderful trip.

What an absolute gem of a place. Helen & Paul go out of their way to make you feel at home here. Nothing is too much trouble & the attention to detail is far superior to that in many hotels.
Extra touches such as the wee dram, exceptionally good tablet, shortbread & luxury toiletries set this place apart.
The breakfast was excellent, great variety & quality food cooked to perfection.
I can't rate this gem of a find highly enough.

What a joy it is to stay at Merlindale! We have just returned from our second 4 night visit and honestly we could not have been happier. We stayed in the Orchid Super King Room (again) which is spacious, warm and comfortable and beautifully decorated with a luxurious bathroom and large walk-in shower. Everything is immaculately clean and we felt very Covid-safe. Little touches in the room like the homemade shortbread and tablet and the ‘wee dram’ of whisky are a great treat.
Helen and Paul are such warm and welcoming hosts that you feel at home from the moment you arrive and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is absolutely delicious with plenty of choice and everything is of the highest quality.
Crieff is in a great position with lots to do nearby and there is an excellent choice of very good restaurants all within walking distance.
