This is a small family run Hotel, most importantly is the fact that it was clean and warm...good nights sleep, great breakfast, owner more than happy to help, only problem, finding a place to park your car...other than that, Good value for money !

We stayed four nights. The rooms are small, clean and quiet. The breakfast is well prepared and generous. You won't find luxury here. But you will find a good place to sleep, a welcoming owner and cook, and a good location. It's a good value in an expensive place to visit.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Orca, although having read the negative comments on here I was a bit worried. I needn't have been the room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was done as I requested with plenty to eat. I will stay here again.

Had a great time at the Orca Hotel - staff friendly and obliging and very interesting to speak with. Breakfasts were grand and the room was warm and clean. Great little place to relax and gather yourself together. Highly recommend the Orca Hotel and if you enjoy youth hosteling then you will love this place - very similar ambiance -...

I stay at the Orca with my mate as we went there to move his father back to the main land after living in Orkney for 33 years. We found the hotel basic but clean, & very friendly,& after 12 hours on the road it was nice to find a nice comfortable & warm bed. The breakfast was very good...

I have read some of the negative views about this hotel, and I cannot see why people are complaining. yes the furniture is a bit dated, but the hotel is clean and tidy, It is a budget hotel so don't expect the Ritz. The landlady is very friendly and she does a really good breakfast and she is constantly asking...

Very friendly, warm welcome after a very long journey. The bedroom was comfortable and warm with an unexpected en suite shower room. Breakfast was good with a reasonable choice on offer. I booked for 1 person and was given a family room which would have been perfectly good if I had taken my husband and son.

As a group of 9 (originally 11) mostly 60+ year olds, we thoroughly enjoyed our Orkney holiday and were very pleased we chose the Orca. Doris and Marlene were most accomodating and welcoming and the breakfasts were great and varied. We were free to use the dining room during the day/evening and the spare fridge and washing machine/drier (which we...

I always think that when you get the extremes of reviews that you have here, then you are talking about an establishment which deviates from the norm and this one certainly does! It is not the Premier Inn! If you are a person who requires a toothbrush to be have been taken to every corner of the room, then this is...

Three of us stayed three nights (14-17 September 2012) in the Orca Hotel, two in a family room and the third in a single room. The furnishings were unpretentious but clean and comfortable. The owner, Doris Fischler, and her staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were very good indeed and could have been enormous, had we so wished. Our...
