We booked a table at Sands following a recommendation and were not disappointed. We both ate from the bar menu as the main menu is a little pricey (although other guests were raving about the quality!) Staff were friendly and main course and dessert delicious. We would highly recommend!

Stayed one night during a cycling trip. The staff were really helpful in getting the bikes stored an then ready for an early start the next day. The restaurant was very busy with lots of locals ( always a good sign) and our food both in the evening and at breakfast was excellent quality and really good value. Would happily...

First visit to Orkney and the Sands was a perfect place to stay. Room excellent, food (breakfast and dinner) both of the same very high standard. Good range of choices on menu with several dishes marked as gluten-free. Very helpful and attentive staff and perfect location for St Margarets Hope ferry. Will definitely be back.

Clean, nice accommodation, helpful staff and wonderful quality breakfast and comfortable beds. The location is very good for plenty of sites especially Tomb of the Eagles, Italian Chapel, Churchill Barriers and delightful St Margarets Hope. There were a few minor niggles, but nothing serious to undermine the service or hospitality. Just all very underwhelming in terms of decor, ambience and...

Astrid also offered to assist with luggage. She was wonderful throughout our stay. The room was very comfortable with a...

Stopped here for one night prior to getting the ferry back to the mainland from neighbouring village. Loads of free parking. Staff very helpful. Family room (at the top of the building - no lift but only 2 flights of stairs) could not be faulted. The decoration was lovely and very appropriate to the hotels location. Our room had fabulous...

Very comfortable room, cosy bathroom great shower especially welcoming after a dampish day driving on Orkney in Caterham 7's! It was part of our NC500 trip but we couldn't resist a wee detour to Orkney and so glad we did. Lovely dinner and a warm welcome in the bar. Breakfast set us up perfectly for our return crossing to the...
