The staff was very helpfull and friendly. The room had a big bed and it was neat, we loved the beautiful red colour scheme. Bar was open till late and staff was helpful. Breakfast gets the thumbs up. This is the second time we have stayed here and it won't be the last.

The good points were the friendly staff, especially on reception and the spacious rooms and pleasant modern bathrooms. But the interior designer must have been having a bad week .... mid brown walls and carpet along with dark brown curtains is depressing and gloomy. And no lift! But the restaurant put the tin lid on it. Seafood chowder is a...

Myself, partner and 6 yr old son stayed here on the 11/9-13/9, we walked from the train station to the hotel which took no longer than 10 minutes. After a 6 hours travelling I was happy that check in was very quick. We had a triple room which was extremely tidy and very comfortable. The ensuite was clean and tidy...

We had our wedding at The Moorings a few weeks ago. The whole experience from start to finish was all about personal service and making sure we had the wedding we wanted. We couldn't have asked for a better day. The venue was just right for the number of guests we had. The food was beautiful and the service throughout...

Stayed at the Moorings recently and enjoyed it. Convenient location close to the motorway and there is plenty of off road traffic. The road outside the hotel is fairly busy and our room did suffer a bit from the noise of the passing traffic. Nice smooth check in and room was of the normal Best Western standard, clean and with...

Spent one night here on our way further north. My heart sank somewhat when we realised a wedding was in full swing, but in fact we were not bothered at all by noise, and our evening meal was good, as was breakfast. Our rooms were comfortable, reasonably spacious and well-equipped. We left something behind by accident, which they found and...

Stayed here on business reasons and it was a refreshing change to the other chain hotel normally used when in the area. Arrived slightly later than expected and had little faith in getting a parking spot but plenty to choose from. I dined in the restaurant and the food was divine, the portion sizes were very big - I was...

Just a two night stay on a coach holiday break to see the Edinburgh Tattoo. A very friendly, extemely clean hotel with modern well appointed ensuite bedrooms and although many people who use this Best Western hotel are usually there for one or two nights it would be so easy to stay longer as it has such a comfortable and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The BEST WESTERN Moorings Hotel provides the magic near Motherwell! Built in 1891 as the private home for a member of a famous Scottish steel dynasty, our beautiful main building has held its charm and offers a unique, understated and timeless air of refinement to this day. The surroundings are undeniably chic, but the overall ambience remains humble enough to be homely. A "B" listed building within a local conservation area, BEST WESTERN Moorings Hotel has built on its 19th century roots to meet 21st century needs and provides guests with classic character. We still have some of the original stained glass windows, and our hospitality is traditional and unintrusive. ... more   less
