Mount Ceres Guest House is just fantastic, there's nothing more to it! Ruth is the perfect host, who goes above and beyond to help her guests. The room is stocked with every goodie you could think of, from nail polish remover to porridge. Now Mount Ceres is about 20 minutes from Central Edinburgh but this is really not a problem...

Arrived here a little late....no problem, we were warmly welcomed by the owner...Ruth. She showed us to a large room with en suite to die for, so much space. We had twin beds with beautiful hand made bed linen and handmade interlined curtains on both windows. Even a lovely rocking chair. Lots of toiletries in the bathroom - above and...

Mount Ceres is a quaint, cosy and homely guesthouse. The room we stayed in was huge and had a large nicely renovated toilet. The place is dog friendly and my 2 dogs stayed for free - they definitely appreciated the space in the room! The room went above and beyond most places I have every stayed at - on top...

My husband and I travelled to Edinburgh to visit my sick mum and booked 2 nights at Mount Ceres as they were dog friendly and we couldn't leave our pooch behind. The owner Ruth was a wonderfully accommodating host and has the utmost trust in her guests, so much so that we didn't even meet her until the day we...

This was reasonably priced, but there were a couple reasons why. First there is no breakfast, well cooked breakfast, there is instant porridge cups, and tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The room was huge with a view of the garden and they own several acres. The house is a rectory from the 19th century. The other reason...

Stayed one night when I was in the area for business. Nice welcome from the owner and large, clean room with en-suit. No breakfast served and no card payment available so take cash. Head to the Paper Mill in the village for a great evening meal.

This was a wonderful stay. Large rooms much better than many experienced elsewhere in Britain and value for money. Rooms were well appointed and has everything we needed. Comfortable bed, made daily, fresh towelling, bulky robes and comfortable slippers. Only request for June - better weather. A big THANKYOU

The guest house is amazing, Ruth, the host is such a lovely person and the little town is beautiful. We had everything a couple a 3 months old baby would possibly need. She even sterilised the milk bottles :) We went there for my partner's birthday, to visit Edinburgh. She also recommended 2 restaurants: Gigi's (italian) and Itihaas (indian). Needless...

Our spacious bedroom was of the highest standard, as was the very large shower room. Everything was provided if needed, bathrobes, slippers, toiletries, which we did not expect in a Guest House. We knew breakfast was not provided but this was not in the least problematic. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room, cereal bars plus porridge...

“Didn't see the other rooms, but believe they would all be of the same high quality as mine - each has a name: Mine was Crichton. At the front of the house - large bay window looking onto front garden and quiet road.”

“I had a comfortable single room downstairs, looking out onto the garden. Very quiet, as I am sure all the rooms are, as it is a quiet area of houses set in big gardens.”
