Grotty, no hot water in the morning. No drying facilities as advertised (had sailing gear to dry). Fire doors on the corridor banged all night in the wind. Would have been better to save the money and sleep in the car!

Well where do I start? From the outside I thought we were renting by the hour. Entered the building and the smell hit us....a mix of stale wee, boiled cabbage and unwashed bedding. After a trek along narrow corridors and up some stairs we found our rooms. Opened the door OMG....a leap back in time......I had arrived in a parody...

Basic accommodation but clean with friendly staff. Sadly for the price we paid we would at least expect hot water. The wifi was a bit hit and miss and not reliable. Does have good views from the hill and peaceful location for a quiet nights sleep.

Pros: generally clean, comfy bed, friendly staff, free parking but limited Cons: WiFi not available in the room, No hot water, leaking dripping tap, numerous updates repairs needed. Only stayed for one night and didn't require more than a comfy bed and hot shower. 50% achieved but for the money would expect a higher level of accommodation.

If you are looking for luxury, this is not the place for you. But if all you need is a clean, comfy bed for a night or two this place ticks those boxes. Sure, its a little tired and could do with a bit of sprucing up, but its not pretending to be anything too grand. Excellent value for money....

Stayed at the Portland Lodge over the August bank holiday weekend and found it good value for money - the place could do with a facelift but on the whole our room and everywhere else we went was clean and tidy. The staff were really friendly and helpful and the cooked breakfast was outstanding. If you are looking for a...

The room and bathroom were clean, the beds were comfortable and the shower worked great. Unfortunately the TV didn't work often which was annoying as after a long day out we wanted to kick back and watch the Olympics. The breakfast was ok...just a tip though, they don't like to cook the poached eggs properly. I had to send mine...
