I had an amazing time at Monkton Wyld Court, extremely welcoming hosts. Monkton Wyld Court was absolutely gorgeous. I was welcomed and shown around, then left to explore the grounds. Incredible building in a beautiful part of the country surrounded by stunning countryside. Perfect for day trips to Charmouth and Lyme Regis. It was a very special experience. My room...

This is an excellent place for a dance workshop but also for families with children and people who want to discover the area. It is an amazing place, very friendly and helpful staff, great food, excellent rooms and great beds. The location is very green and natural and a pleasure to be part of. I have just returned home from a long weekend with my extended family (7 children 18 adults (ages 2 to 88)) to Monkton Wyld Court. Rooms basic but clean and comfortable. Food wholesome and filling. DIY breakfasts. Grounds provide a lovely safe place for kids to explore and play. We enjoyed camp fire songs in the evening and pizzas from...

I attended a weekend course here and was very pleasantly surprised to find my bedroom - Fire - was lovely with a gorgeous view over the gardens. Although my room did not have its own bathroom, it did have a wash basin which was nice. The food was utterly delicious and all the people who live at Monkton were delightful.

We recently stayed as B&B guests at Monkton Wyld Court. If you are looking for a peaceful place to stay while in the Charmouth/Lyme Regis area and don't require the frills of a fancy hotel, then check out the old vicarage/school and what it and the resident community there have to offer. It's a bit different than what you might...

A Friday and Saturday night spent with fellow yogis, enjoying a yoga break organised by my local teacher. Partner did not partake but was able to chill out, read and listen to his music. It is fair to say that this place is unusual .... at least it is for us - it is a sustainable community and would not...

This is an unusual B&B - a beautiful 1840 stone mansion, a former rectory, complete with marble staircase, in a lovely countryside setting. It was at one time a progressive school, and is now the home of the organic farming community who run Monkton Wyld Court Sustainable Education Centre and the B&B. Just be aware that it has the feel...

An ideal venue for a reflective weekend spent practising yoga and Nia. The venue is set in wonderful countryside, the food was nutritious and they catered for all sorts of dietary requirements .. no problem. They grow a lot of their own food so it's mainly organic. Wonderful. It's not luxurious - but that's the point of it all really....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Monkton Wyld Court has a long history of offering eco-friendly organic B&B hospitality, with all proceeds going towards the upkeep of our beautiful Victorian-Gothic Grade II Listed manor house and the Trust’s charitable activities. The B&B is run by a small community of friendly volunteers; guests are welcome to enjoy the peaceful ambiance of the spacious house and grounds in privacy, but those interested in the centre can always find people willing to share their experiences of low-impact living. Breakfast is self-serve and includes milk and yoghurt from our Jersey cows, eggs from our free-range chickens, as well as home-made jams and local honey. Lunch and dinner – all vegetarian and organic, with many ingredients grown in our Victorian walled garden – need to be booked in advance. We ask that all our guests wash their own dishes after meals, and strip their beds before leaving, in line with our communitarian ethos. We don’t have any television in the house and only limited wifi, but can provide you with plenty of board games and books, and maps for walks across the lush Dorset hills and down to the Jurassic Coast. The historic market towns of Bridport and Axminster are also just a short drive away. ... more   less
