I stayed one night, with my 3 daughters; we had a lovely time. Monkton Wyld is an oasis of peace set in beautiful surroundings. It is a home from home and yet not...it's special and different. More of a hostel feel than a traditional B&B, where you cook your own breakfast and wash up your own dishes, but I loved...

Complete happenstance. Diving out of Lyme Regis. Lovely people. Idyllic setting fabulous produce and their own little pub. Open fire. BBQ. Yes it is quirky but for us, in a good way. If we get a chance we will be back.

From the moment I arrived which was late evening I was made welcome and shown where to make a cup of tea. just what I needed after a long drive from Yorkshire. my room was basic but clean and very comfortable. I've not stayed here but attend the monthly local lunches held a few times a year, the most recent being last week. There's always a very warm welcome and the food is excellent and interesting every time. The meal usually comprises a main course and a delicious pudding, all freshly home made on the premises using ingredients from the gardens...

I recently stayed at Monkton Wyld for a weekend's yoga retreat. It was very special. From the minute we arrived, we were made very welcome by our kind hosts, and given a tour of the rambling Gothic building. It was freezing weather outside, but there were stoves and open fires to ameliorate this, and all the cosy bedding you could...

I have just returned home from a long weekend with my extended family (7 children 18 adults (ages 2 to 88)) to Monkton Wyld Court. Rooms basic but clean and comfortable. Food wholesome and filling. DIY breakfasts. Grounds provide a lovely safe place for kids to explore and play. We enjoyed camp fire songs in the evening and pizzas from...

I attended a weekend course here and was very pleasantly surprised to find my bedroom - Fire - was lovely with a gorgeous view over the gardens. Although my room did not have its own bathroom, it did have a wash basin which was nice. The food was utterly delicious and all the people who live at Monkton were delightful.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Monkton Wyld Court has a long history of offering eco-friendly organic B&B hospitality, with all proceeds going towards the upkeep of our beautiful Victorian-Gothic Grade II Listed manor house and the Trust’s charitable activities. The B&B is run by a small community of friendly volunteers; guests are welcome to enjoy the peaceful ambiance of the spacious house and grounds in privacy, but those interested in the centre can always find people willing to share their experiences of low-impact living. Breakfast is self-serve and includes milk and yoghurt from our Jersey cows, eggs from our free-range chickens, as well as home-made jams and local honey. Lunch and dinner – all vegetarian and organic, with many ingredients grown in our Victorian walled garden – need to be booked in advance. We ask that all our guests wash their own dishes after meals, and strip their beds before leaving, in line with our communitarian ethos. We don’t have any television in the house and only limited wifi, but can provide you with plenty of board games and books, and maps for walks across the lush Dorset hills and down to the Jurassic Coast. The historic market towns of Bridport and Axminster are also just a short drive away. ... more   less
