Beer terrace with a delightful view. Good beer selection; Tried a light lunch, but the aussie - east euro staff combination were not out to help when asked for a small portion. No other customers at this time. My food was tasty and fine. Would stop again.

We happened upon this pub when we came up for air at the Powerstock Cider Festival (a hoot) and decided to return for a weekend. It's a lovely country pub with very friendly staff, the roomy room had a big comfy bed, and picture postcard views. The delicious breakfast hit the spot. We didn't eat there in the evening and...

Meal was adequate although although neither my wife or I felt particularly welcome. We both had the 'special' pie which was ok but the portion of vegetables was rather pathetic. Interesting special offer that claims meal + pint, although what they mean is meal + drink per individual; if you try to have a second pint because your pregnant wife...

Thank you for your reveiw. When you ordered the two pies, which included a free pint you ordered a pint of beer and pint of coke, which represented your two free drinks. You then ordered another pint of beer which we charged you for. I am sorry if you expected it for free. Being rude to my staff was no...

I see from a previous review that this pub changed hands in January 2015. This may have some bearing on my opinion of the place following a recent visit. During my last visit here in the 90s I had a lovely meal which finished with a delicious dessert of a soufflé with prunes. So, as I was in the area...

Went for lunch yesterday on our return from a few days away, had ploughmans and egg mayonnaise sandwiches with arrived with chips Ploughmans arrived on a breadboard with a good flavored cheese, 4 pieces of granary and white bread with onion pickle, meats. That was so big we could have shared it. Stayed longer than we had planned as it was...

After a long journey the pub was most welcoming The room was large and comfortable. The palmers ales were perfect. Didn't eat on the first, night but booked a table for the second. The food was well cooked, with the blue vinny cheese soufflé the best I have ever had. My wife choose the chilled pea soup with crab salad...

Stayed for one night . We arrived and Pub was closed but we were shown our rooms which are more like suites. Beautifully furnished and a wonderful view of the countryside . We were offered a drink in the bar and the owners arranged a taxi for us as we had booked a restaurant in Wedt Bay . If we...

The room was brilliant. Clean. Comfy. Spacious. Shower good. Pub food wasn't as expected, thought it would be fancy gastro pub but it was more regular pub food. So I was a bit disappointed in the menu but the food was done well so it's fine. Breakfast wasn't the usual "pick what you want from the cooked menu and how...

“Move the chesterfield round to face the TV in room one (like a suite) and it's like your own cinema, glancing across to see the countryside through the Juliet balconied window and the back to one of the selection of free DVDs on offer. Perfect room. Have no knowledge of the other rooms but assume that room 2 is equally as good!”
